Anyone who goes to the erworld page should know they've been having these mini stories? Are they considered cannon? As in when it picks up again will all that stuff have happened?

Yes, they are canon. Unless I have been grossly misinformed by many many sources.

Yes, the summer updates are canon. Right now we're going through the ones that were going to make up "exclusive" epilogues in the book. We decided that was going to be too hard on people following the story only online.

After the epilogues, the narrative pace will accelerate and we'll cover a broader span of time, with just a skim. Book 2 starts in the fall.
