Default Useful Media Discussion Links

Here are some links that are useful when discussing different kinds of media:

IMDB- The internet movie database. Has cast lists, quotes, and trailers for just about every movie (and TV show) ever made. The search function is also quite compresensive. Great for searching by movie or actor(actress).

Amazon.com- Well it's Amazon. It's got books and music, and some of the books are searchable inside the book. Another good place to look for links.

Wikipedia- A freely edited encyclopedia containing entries about everything.

Yahoo Movies- Another good cast listing site. Also has a pretty good upcoming movie section.

Apple Movie Trailers- Quicktime trailers of movies both current and upcoming.

Youtube- Handy for videos, clips, trailers, etc.

RottenTomatoes- I find its fresh/rotten meter is usually pretty representative of how enjoyable (at least I find) a movie is. Also, it's fun to tell someone his or her favorite movie got a dismal 5% fresh rating.

Allmusic- A music discussion resource.

Anything else anyone can think of?

Google is a marvel for identifying movies and music. Just put in a line or a lyric in quotation marks and you can find out what basically anything is.

I had made this a thread before and it is one of the most useful sites out there. Free too, up to five downloads a day. I've used it since I learned about it a year ago and probably will use it the rest of my life.
Awesome, just awesome site.

This site has a whole bunch of movies, tv show episodes, cartoons, anime, and a comedy section. They're all free to watch online too.

JoBlo.com and Chud.com, both fairly nerdy coming-attractions sites, but they've come to terms with thier nerdiness.

Anime News Network, exactly what it sounds like (except without Wolf Blitzer or Anderson Cooper).

It's my personal preference, but I like Powells for book stuff. It's a local company, not an international chain, which is active in their local (Portland, OR) community as well as overseas, like donating old textbooks to 3rd-world countries. The site has Very Good employee recommendations, author interviews, and the like, and has things like 16th century bibles, limited edition Stephen King novels, and other fabulous stuff. Heck, their rare book room has a volume worth more than my house!

Plus, bibliophiles, if you're in the Portland area it's a new-and-used-book store over 70,000 square feet!! No I don't work there, but I've been going since before I was a teenager and I love them.

What, no TVTropes? TVTropes is God. When it comes to analyzing media, you can't beat it.

Hey everyone! So I recently was on the site kickstarter, as most of you may know it is a site used to fund projects that everyday people make up. Our own Rich Burlew used it to start the reprinting of the OOTS comics, well now I recently found people who are trying to get money for a D&D documentary. Oh sure some of you may be like, "Oh man some boring documentary." But no their really is a quite compelling story behind the making of this legendary game! So I suggest you all check it out and help to make this movie a reality...
