I don't know any Metallica songs, so I'll write a short story.

Once upon a time there was a noble and gracious man living in the mountains. Every morning he would walk onto his porch and watch the birds fly to the top of the mountain. He always wanted to climb to the top of the mountain himself, but he could never make the journey.

He sulked for several days, before deciding to visit the witch in the village at the base of the mountains. "Please, witch" he said, "let me get to the top of the mountain like the birds." He paid his respects and the witch wished him luck. The next morning the man awoke to find that, in place of his arms, there were now wings.

He immediately jumped out his window and flew to the top of the mountain. He had reached the summit, and he cried out in joy. Unfortunately the man could no longer pick anything up, and the people in the village killed him for his freakish nature.


Moral of the story: Being different is bad! Don't be different!

For English class, my friend once wrote a story about a young wolf who challenged the cruel, hateful old wold who was the leader of the pack. The young wolf failed, and was torn apart by the older one. The moral of the story was basically "don't try". Depressing story...

Or maybe the moral should be "don't fight with wolves"? That would be pretty reasonable.

• Never proselytize to aliens.
• Don't do science.
• Don't break into the fifth dimension.
