This is the out of character thread for Fire Emblem: Sand Beneath the Waves. Please post your characters here, then get to all the out of character chatting you want. The game thread will be up shortly. I'll try to post the game rules in the Homebrew Design forum most likely, and I'll link to that when it's up.
Herpestidae, bladescape, Penguinator, LordOfTheDucks, RuneboundShade, and Rashill are in for the first map. I'll try to post the waiting list soon.

Backstory:
Spoiler
Venimoor was born on a pirate ship. Some hinted that the captain was his father, and the captain treated him like a son, but he never found out for sure. He didn't really care. He wasn't given a surname, he was only Venimoor. Under the captain's wing, he learned to become rather respectable and gentlemanly for a pirate. No one could say he lacked charisma. He grew up thieving, being with pirates. Eventually, one nation's naval forces threatened another's, and the threatened nation offered great reward to pirates who would fight for them. Venimoor took up the cause, and aided the nation against the opposing armada. After the naval forces were taken down, Venimoor was knighted for his service. With some of the gold he was given for his service, he bought a young wyvern and raised it. It is now his faithful partner, Libellule. In honor of his relationship with his mount, he took the surname Drake as his own. With the rest of the gold, he began taking lessons in the use of Anima magic. He still hasn't proven himself, but he has a better mastery of it than regular pirates.
Personality:
Spoiler
Venimoor is charismatic. He has a love of adventure and treasure, and will never give in, even when circumstances tell him that he should. He is eternally optimistic, and always kind to his allies.

Cute, Bubbly, and Kind of out of it. Most of the time. She can be seductive, manipulative, and downright sneaky when she has a mind to be. Is it a facade? A split personality? She's... not very sure herself.
Backstory:
Spoiler
She grew up as an acrobat and contortionist in a traveling circus, until a sudden illness forced her to stay behind in Freeport, where she would be picked up on the return trip. In a year. The gold they left with her was only enough for three months, however, so she had to find other ways to support herself. And she did it the only way she knew how... by putting on a show. By day, she was a cute homeless waif, performing backflips and handstands with all her might to put food on her table. By night, she used her talents in a different manner: walking the tightrope taught her how to step lightly. Working the trapeze helped her navigate the city by rooftop. And men of all kinds (especially the drunk ones) would find themselves too interested in the way her body could bend to realizing a few missing gold coins. She didn't particularly like it, even though she only stole when it was necessary, but she did what she did in order to survive. And she planned to continue with her lifestyle as long as she had to. And then the siege started...

I keep quoting your posts. But they might not mean what I think they do...
Roderick was originally enlisted as a soldier back in Norion, as was tradition in his family. But after one gruesome night, in which three of his comrades were slain in an escalated bar fight, his superiors offered him a choice: accept retraining and become an asset to his nation, or be demoted for not dealing with the situation properly. It wasn't a fair choice, but during retraining he consoled himself with the fact that he was alive.
As far as his family knew, he died of his wounds along with his friends. It was better that they didn't know him, better for the nation that is. He was given his current name and he dutifully carried out his missions without a second thought to his old life and with only a faint grasp of the future. His new-found talents were deemed more necessary in the colonial lands.
It's been three years since he arrived by sea and he has orchestrated numerous ploys and plots. Currently Roderick is in between missions and was supposed to meet a contact in Freeport. Sadly the siege ruined this plan and his future has never been so unpredictable.
Personality:
Spoiler
He prefers to never be noticed and takes his work very seriously. Getting the job done has always outweighed financial incentives and his professionalism has lead him far as a spy. He dislikes killing innocents, but will do so for the sake of his mission. His greatest ambition is to live long enough to retire, not out of desperation, but as a badge of accomplishment.
While not on a mission, he reverts to a state of mulled vigilance, constantly keeping aware of those around him. He is quiet, but not shy to share his opinion if asked. Because of one bad incident years back, he no longer drinks alcohol unless absolutely necessary.

Also, @Garryl: Can I have a few 'Double-bladed swords' for Saythe for flavour? Say, make them a bit heavier, and add a little damage. If you don't feel like doing any more work like that, then I'll just play the 'reflavour' game.
Would like an answer to this.

Spoiler
Quiet and unassuming, after a few hours of contact, many would assume that Saythe is inhuman, and doesn't even feel emotions. That couldn't be farther from the truth, though.
No, he certainly feels emotions, he just doesn't show it or act as if he does. His life and past have meant that whatever he feels inside is not reflected on the outside. It also leaves him somewhat 'bitter'. The frustrated acceptance of what life has dealt him is ever present behind the guise of indifference, and it is actually possible to get a normal emotional response from him this way. To show someone else who has received a nice life, he will shy away from them instinctively...
Merely because they remind him so painfully of his past and what he wished he had been raised like. He will therefore briefen anything that would be said around one of these.
Conversely, he is much more willing to actually spend time with people who share his kind of pain. The lack of a loving parent to guide his life at a young age. The lack of comfort as he grew, the lack of anything hopeful.
History:
Spoiler
One would call Saythe a 'Child of the Desert', for truly that describes him far better than any other title or moniker you can bestow upon him.
At an age so young that he doesn't remember, he ended up in the desert, alone. He has no idea whether his parents were killed or whether they live to this day in some form. He doesn't know what they looked like, what they sounded like. He has no idea who they are.
So he was a child stranded in the desert, unknowing of where he was, or what he was even doing here. He would've died, due to exhaustion and dehydration due to the oppressive heat. He had no chance...
Except that there were other 'dwellers' of the desert. The last of a tribe, guided by the desert spirits, found the child lying almost dead amongst the clogging sands. Taking him into their hut, the mother and daughter cared for him until he was strong enough to walk again. Then he helped them survive in a world where water is scarce and food not common. Almost starving at some times, failing at others, they taught him as best they could of the tribe they once belonged to's skills. The skills of desert survival.
A little while later, the mother died, and turned into sand. The visige didn't shock him like it would most, as he had never experienced death before that, and had no expectations or knowledge of what it would be like. So there he lived with the daughter, a gem of beauty made rugged by a harsh life in the sands.
Most would expect this to turn into a romance, and for sure the at the time nineteen year old Saythe certainly was interested in the lass, but it wasn't to be from the start. As soon as he had passed the final test, proven beyond a doubt that he could survive in the desert, even if barely, and could traverse it unerringly, never getting lost, upon his return, she was no where to be found.
To this day he is sure that they were Desert Spirits, enforced even more strongly when he began guiding those lost in the desert, and ended up fighting for the first time. With the double bladed ancestral weapon of the spirit's tribe, he proved too dangerous for those accosting the people he was guiding. And when he slew the first one, the body was still there after death. It was different.
After his first battle, and the first time he had emptied his guts out of nausea, he hadn't expected the dead to smell quite like that, made worse by the mid-day sun, he searched for the answers to his past. The only time he ventured out of his homeland in the desert. He found a lot about where people like him came from, but he never could associate with the town. And it wasn't long before the guide returned to the desert, leaving not a trace of his presence behind.
Ever since he has ferried those lost in the desert to the other side, guided by the whispers of the spirits, he longs to hear the two who cared for him, but he never does....

Race: Human Sex: Male Affinity: Dark Age: 22 Height: 6'2" Weight: 193 lb. Hair Colour: Blond Eye Colour: Blue

Description
Spoiler
Gruff, pragmatic and severe. Riderch is a seasoned sellsword who's spent more nights in trenches than a bed. There is a fearless honesty about his curt manner. Riderch is nothing if not mercenary in his outlook, but his venal character and self-interest are not complete. Riderch takes pride in his patchwork full-plate, its countless nicks and insults are painted over in tar and reinforced by metal scrap. He values a sort of corsairs' democracy and takes Thrann's native populist rhetoric to heart. Riderch has a sentimentality for the adventurous spirit of Arnos and a personal history of its abuse.
A full helm masks the fearsome rearguard. And while Riderch's youth is a genuine surprise to most opponents, his boyish cheeks are sullen by an irremovable grimace and collection of dueling scars. When not dressed in his armor, Riderch wears a leather binding around his cracked ribs and core of regenerating muscle.
Backstory
Spoiler
Riderch's parents began their journey across the sea when their only son had seen his sixth harvest season. They arrived in Freeport as indentured servants to a plantation nominally allied with Eldrath. The bright-eyed pioneers set about their grueling work and died from exposure and disease almost a year before their terms of indenture were settled. Riderch survived his parents' passing and was no sooner saddled with their debts. The young teen could not satisfy the contract's terms by his farmhand wages alone and began to despair at the prospect of rotting away in debtor's prison. He assuaged his grief through gambling, drink and rakish behavior; all of which caused him to fall in with the Black Company.
The inns and taverns of Arnos which serviced Riderch's debauchery served also as wateringholes to the colonies' roving bands of sellswords and bounty hunters. Behind the scenes, tokens of Riderch's surety were traded among these mercenaries until a Black Company pressgang obtained grounds to abduct the lad. Impressed so, Riderch was never at a lack for work or purpose. The ceaseless land disputes and colonial imbroglios saw to that. Over the course of seven years, Riderch graduated from child soldier to slave-catcher. He ground out a living collecting fugitives for the bondsman and contracts for the Black Company.
The mercenary companies of Arnos spied Thrann's rise with a glittering interest. While many of the mercenaries had sympathies of native rule, it was gold that bought their loyalty. The Black Company was contracted as private security by panicked nobles in Freeport, but as the walls fell so did the civil order binding the agreement. Riderch last remembers floating out to harbor in a Company cog loaded with pillaged goods and heads for ransom.
Crow is a gambler, a gambler with an interest in black magic, but still a gambler…
He keeps his emotions buried deep in his soul, as if gambling is just his way of proving to himself that he’s actually still alive, and not some spectre, wandering the plane of existence. However, buried deep beneath his outer self is the boy who still wants to become a hero….
History:
Spoiler
Crow’s home town was destroyed by bandits while he and his parents were visiting friends in another village, it was not long after that that his mother fell ill and didn’t look to recover. Crow ran away from home, shortly after his mother recovered, but Crow only found out four years later, at which point he had already been picked up of the streets by an elderly dark magician. The man guided him through learning the art, which consequently took some 10 years, and at the end of his training told him of an ancient desert, hidden under a sea…. Now what had he got himself into……

About the Anima triangle, if it is the one from FE4, it is Thunder beats Fire that beats Wind that beats Thunder, not the opposite... The basis is Wind makes Fire stronger, and you build the triangle around it.
But maybe it changed after it.
For a first map, I find all ennemies incredibly quick! As I remember it, on the first map of all FE games I played (I mean official ones) ennemies (except myrmidons, but no one had those before some chapters) had at most a speed of 5 ><
If you look at it, the beginning of each FE game is done to advantage the lord, using a sword, by putting a lot of axe users.
Edit: Oh, and may anyone help me making a mug or battle/map sprite? I may have some mugs from a friend of mine, but I'm afraid I have no sprites...
I'm using TheSummoner's system for most everything I haven't changed, so it's Fire > Wind > Thunder > Fire, and Dark > Anima > Light > Dark.

Would refluffing the blades work? They're heavier and more damaging than normal swords, but less accurate. With a Con of 4, you should be careful with weapons regardless. Even a simple Iron Sword will slow you down.
As for why you're in Freeport, Thrann is sweeping across the entirety of the continent, and that includes whatever deserts may be on Arnos. That's probably the simplest excuse if you don't have any better ideas.

Sorry, there are nuances that I am still new to with this game. For the moment, most enemies are made with the same rules as your characters, except that they don't get talents. Please tell me if you have any comments or suggestions on what could be better, it's how I improve.
Reposting a repost. How DO you guys make those maps? Is there some sort of program for it or just zealous use of photoshop?

An ex-soldier who, having been given enough time to ponder it over, realises he absolutely, truly and well, hates war. Most of all, he hates the idiots who like waging war, each and every single one of them some fool vaingloriously chasing after their deaths.
He sells his sword to the highest bidder, and aims to be dependable, both in dealing with the task set on him and not betraying his employer until they're either dead, stark-raving mad or satisfied.
Spoiler
Backstory-
A soldier who joined the war due to a wish to protect home and hearth... and because he doesn't know any other way to make money than swing a sword. His father, being a typically miserable man, only passed the art of sword fighting on to his son, then went and got himself killed in a tavern brawl.
With some luck, he earned an honourable discharge from military service, but knowing nothing but the art of the sword, fell back into a life of fighting.

This. Nobody on our team can double anybody. And the enemies have a crapload of def and res. For faceless mooks, I'd recommend dropping their base points to 40 or even less.

Faceless mooks should never have as many growth and stat points as PCs. Bosses are a different story. I'd drop them to approximately 40 base and 300 growths. You do want to give us a chance of survival.
And never give them too much speed or res. Mages are supposed to wreak havoc on the first few maps, and if there aren't any PCs that can double, something's off.

I keep filesheets in a huge MS Paint document. I start with a huge blank canvas of empty white space. I usually start with a block of sprites (say, a throne room) and go from there with sprites from the same map. Generally, I know what the map should look like in advanced, and try to make it look like I'm visualizing.
So no program, for me. Not even photoshop.

Also, most enemy mooks tend to have zero Luck. It's understandable if you want bosses to have luck at decent levels to prevent rampant criticals but traditionally the faceless NPCs don't need more than 0-2 Luck.

Aria is a very soft spoken girl. She is extremely polite and well mannered. She finds humans to be interesting and likes their differently personalities. She hates the fact that some people treat dead like dirt and wishes they would give them more respect.
Backstory
Spoiler
Aria grew up on the 'clouds' where she learned both holy magic and healing magic.
In her spare time Aria would sneak down from her home to the mortal world. She always found humans intresting. How they interacted with one another, though she never got why they would fight and kill eachother.
Eventually she was caught sneaking out and was punished. She was sentenced to the mortal world and not to return unless her sentence was finished and or removed.
This though did not really bother Aria much since she was intrested with them in the first place. The only thing that bothered her was the fact she wouldn't be able to see her family again.
Stripted of her long life span she left her home on the clouds at the human age of 21 and went to the mortal world, hinding her wingers under her robes afraid of what the mortals would say and do if they found out she was really an angle.
She traveled the mortal world from small town to small town doing all she could for the sick and dying.

History:
Spoiler
Not much is known about Arc as he refuses to tell anybody anything about his past. In fact he himself has forgotten much about his past life. All he remembers is that he is the last remaining member of his family. He cannot remember why they were killed or why he survived but he does remember that they deserved it. The only other noteworthy thing he remembers is his name, a name that he knows cannot be revealed to anyone. It was his name that caused his families death and it was his name that saved him from their fate.
Arc now wanders around the globe making his living off of small jobs and hunting. Arc is known in certain parts of Eldarth as a hero, due to the fact that he liberated a couple of small towns from bandits. In these towns he has garnered the title mist soldier. He is known as this because of the fact that on the day he defeated the bandits the town was covered by a veil of mist and when Arc left the city the mist left with him.
During one of Arc's wanderings into uncharted territory, he ran into a group of spirits wandering around a deserted mountain pass. Intrigued Arc observed them for a few days and surprisingly they didn't attack him. Perhaps the spirits were blind, perhaps they saw him as a kindred spirit someone wandering the world without a purpose or perhaps the spirits were simply not interested in him. Due to this experience Arc has became interested in the tales of spirits and in the supernatural.
Arc's wanderings have now lead him to the deserted sea. Where a new chapter in his story will begin.
Hidden Past
Spoiler
Arc was born as Edward Darren the youngest son of a wealthy noble in Menthyl Vare . His parents were excellent mages and scholars who trained their 3 sons rigorously in the arcane arts. At the young age of 2 training began and Edward was the only one of his siblings who showed no promise in becoming a mage. Despite that however the training continued and each failure was met with severe punishment. After 10 years of failures and punishments Edward grew to despise his father and his entire family.
A couple of months after his 13th birthday the unthinkable happened A large regiment of guards and soldiers stormed through his families home. As it turns out his father was part of a group who was planning to usurp the throne . The soldiers burned the house to the ground and left no survivors, no servants, no slaves, nothing. Edward survived purely by chance, a lone guard took pity on the child and saved him from the burning building. The guard managed to hide Edward from the others and took him to the border. The guard gave Edward a few hundred pieces of gold and told him to run. The entirety of his family and anyone else associated with the coup were wanted men and if the guards found him he would be killed. The guard advised Edward to choose a new name and to run. And to not stop running for soon the entire country would be after him.
However after 4 years the king died and the bounty on his head was removed. But Edward did not even acknowledge the fact. He remembered his old life as nothing more than a story of someone else's life. He was no longer Edward, he was nameless, he had no past, no goal, no story of his own. And in fact he preferred it this way his 3 years of running were more real to him than his years of studying. With no goal in mind the boy started just wandering, travelling the world just by himself and a bow he picked up for self-preservation and like this he spent the next 12 years.

Arc is a very cold and aloof man. He does not talk much and he is very wary of anyone he meets. Although he may seem uncaring on the inside Arc cares deeply for the men and women who he meets in his travels and he would do anything in his power to protect anybody who has earned his trust.
Arc believes that Name's hold power over their owners, so he changes his own every few years so as to disassociate him from ever having one. However he has not tried to disassociate himself from his title of Mist Soldier why he hasn't is anyones guess.
Arc is very interested in spirits and in many things supernatural. He has seen things spoken of in myths during his travels and because of this not very many things can still surprise him.
Appearance:
Spoiler
Arc is tall and somewhat thin. He has long blonde hair and emotionless dull green eyes. His face is pale but the rest of his body is at least a little tanned. He wears a Grey-white cloak with blue markings which, when combined whith his pale face has caused some to remark that he look like a spirit from beyond.
It would be much appreciated if someone could make my characters sprites. I have no skill at all in anything artsy.

Prior to the decent to this mystical desert, Jiguro lived peacefully with his fellow villagers in a lush tropical valley. They had ample food, ample water, good health, peace and happiness. They didn’t desire anything else in the world, though they did practise ‘spear dancing’, an elegant form of martial art whose primary weapon is the lance.
All that of course changed when the invading army burnt his village to the ground. Jiguro survived along with a few other villagers. But his wife and five year old son was not amongst them. Grief stricken, he wondered the lands leaving the survivors behind. Eventually found a sheltered cove in which he decided to settle
Personality
Spoiler
Though his losses have made him rather detached from the outside world, Jiguro is a good man and will help those in need. His training as a martial artist means that his strict in hid discipline and sometimes this translates in him being a bit too strict with his failures. If there’s something he desires more than anything it’s justice against those who took his loved ones away, though one wouldn’t be entirely incorrect to call it vengeance as well...
Description
Spoiler
Jiguro is tall, skinny and lithe with remarkable agility and flexibility. Even though his robes (similar in colour and form to Budhist monk robes) are old and worn he always keeps them clean and well maintained. As is characteristic of his village near everyone gets their body tattooed in an elemental motif his being wind (black) and fire (red).
Once upon a time he would shave his scalp, but as his monastic days are long behind him he has allowed his hair to grow back: a short, serious sooty black affair that has started to go white on his widow peak his stubble and where his hair joins his facial hair.
The rest of his face is tanned orange and covered by plenty of worry lines making him appear older than he actually is. It also makes his eyes, auburn and bloodshot, hard to discern.
For spriters: I guess a good start would be to take Oswyn’s mug and make it have Hawkeye’s skin tone. Perhaps turn it more orangish, age it a bit, add blackish stubble, turn the hair short and blackish, add tattoos as described above (if possible going on the scalp as well). Clothe wise he wears no armour, just Buddhist style robes (primary colour orange, secondary: dark yellow, with red details), perhaps have half his chest be bear if you can/can be bothered.
Thanks again for your efforts!
Rashill has showed via a PM a mug he has made for Jiguro, it lacks tatoos, but I am very happy with it. Still need battle and map sprites, but he seems to have done a vanishing act. Not surprising considering the time of year...
Oh and have a Happy New Year everyone.

Kostrun was born and raised in one of the Iberian temples just at the edge of the mountain range in Eldrath. From an early age he was taught the necessity of conflict, being constantly encourage to compete against everybody. This constant conflict created a seed of hatred within him even though he managed to hide it, so that at the age of twelve he began the initiation within the demon sect of the temple where he was forced to survive in the mountains for two months.
During the middle of the first month a wicked storm descended upon the mountains as the very spirits of the lightning it self infused the lightning as it smote the mountain. Kostrun was struck by one of these bolts, burning him, but as the power ravaged his body, Kostrun unleashed his magic potential and trapped the spirit within his body. After an intense mental battle that almost drained the life out of him Kostrun managed to force the spirit Thurion to serve him, but unknown to Kostrun, Thurion was actually a thunder demon that had been seeking out a host. With the magical help of Thurion Kostrun recovered, but during the final month he managed to discover a wyvern egg that had been abandoned by its parents. As Kostrun reached down and touched the egg Thurion sent a spark of his dark energy into the unborn baby, corrupting its form and bounding its will to serve the boy and the spirit. Kostrun kept the egg, and by the day that he was finally allowed to return the egg had hatched, with the wyvern baby viewing Kostrun as both its family and master.
The monks were surprised to see just what had happened to the young boy, but decided to encourage his growth and see what would come of it. Over the next six years both the boy and the wyvern grew exponentially, as Kostrun's magical power, and the wyvern's strength was fuelled by Thurion's power. On the eve of his eighteenth birthday one of his fellow initiates of the angel order tried to poison Kostrun's wyvern, but thanks to the corruption within it the wyvern survived. Infuriated by the action Kostrun unleashed his anger upon the temple, which was fuelled by the hatred he had of the place. Due to the members who actually could have stopped him not being their Kostrun left the place a burning wreck, and so with his wyvern and demon spirit companion he fled to the city of Freeport.
Personality:
Spoiler
Kostrun is a very cold and serious individual due to the training at the temple, and encouraged by the spirit Thurion within him. However, he is deeply loyal to those he considers his friends.
Description:
Spoiler
Kostrun has red hair and a tanned face. He wears heavy armour that shows various burns that come from the lightning that he harness. His Wyvern is almost completely black, with a single horn on the centre of his head.

Reposting a repost. How DO you guys make those maps? Is there some sort of program for it or just zealous use of photoshop?
Another way is to use a map editor like Tiled or Mappy, this is much easier than Paint or Photoshop since the basic unit is a tile rather than a pixel. You'll need the map tiles as well of course, this is all that I've found: link
Just checked the first chapter of FE 6: when all character (except Marcus...) have between 41-42 base points, the mooks have between 25 and 30 base points.
About luck, I think the right idea will be something like building them with luck, and taking it off as they are mooks.
Lol.... You know, for my intent, I actually think the low Con ruins Saythe's whole 'Deadly Fast' theme. Merely because weapons.
Garryl: Can I change my stats slightly to increase my Con? And I'll just pretend all the swords Saythe ends up with are double bladed.
Penguinator:
I think it's funny to see the Dancer being more of a defensive person than my Lord. Though later on Saythe will become so fast that he should make up for his pathetic defense.

Dimitri is intelligent and charismatic but due to his upbringing, he tends to expect things to be handed to him on a silver platter. The young Ivanov is capable of great feats leadership but his impatience and condescending nature make it difficult for him to keep a team in line. However, beneath all the arrogance and posturing there is someone who somewhat resembles a decent human being.
Backstory:
Spoiler
Dimitri was born to a family of minor nobles charged with governing a small port on the coast of the colony alongside one of the more prominent nobles of Eldrath. Though the charter technically gave both households an equal share of power, the higher ups clearly favored one family over the other. When the Thrann Empire began their push, Dimitri's family quickly back stabbed the other ruling party and turned coat. By allowing the Thrann empire quick and easy access to the port city, the Ivanov family earned a spot of favor underneath the Thrann banner. As a show of goodwill the family's second son (the expendable one), Dimitri was gifted to the empire and received a position as an officer.
During the battle (sacking?) of Freeport Dimitri led a small squad of archers into the city to set things alight. However, his attack squadron quickly fell apart after their first encounter with Freeport guardsmen as his poorly trained men quickly broke rank and fled. With that it soon became every man for himself and the young 'noble' took what he could plunder and killed anybody who stood in his way, Thrann soldiers included.

So, a character excessively squishy, quick, and theoretically able to handle most opponents, by either healing allies or inflicting alterations to opponents (correction, he won't with this resistance...).
Backstory:
Spoiler
Young member of a rich family of Freeport, he manages to flee in ne of the last ship, having order from his father. Even if he grew with a silver spoon in mouth, he studied enough to be able to handle his responsabilities as higher born. Fencing was needing for him to defend the honor of his family, and healing people is part of a second himself for him.
Personality:
Spoiler
He is open-minded, but don't show it, as he knows that the less-lucky may need a autoritarian façade to obey. He left this coverture when he is alone with a patient, or if the lower-born seems to don't need authority, situation in which he will revert to his original personality.
Final version, I think, corrected (can't believe I made so many mistakes while spending growth points...)
I have a question: if I'm going with the noble lord, I receive a silver weapon. But am I proficient with A weapon due to it? And may I take a A staff instead? Okay, the Fortify staff isn't THAT usefull, wrong question... except for level grinding (they give something like 70 xp per use in all GBA games). I was planning to ask for a silver sword anyway.
"Oh ho ho ho ho ho!"
"This desert... these bones... this world... is MINE! Get squashed underneath my feet like the maggots you are!"
Background:
Spoiler
Remora used to be an ordinary, albeit highly intelligent girl. One fateful day, while aboard a passenger ship, Remora was washed away in a storm over the Deserted Sea, and when she came to, found herself inexplicably in dry desert. She came across an ancient ruin seeking refuge from the harsh desert; the ruin contained strange artifacts of mysterious power and the fungi growing in abundance provided a source of nutrition. Without anything to do and with no way to escape from the desert, Remora examined the artifacts. It turned out they were the ruins of a giant mechanical man. The girl was quick to note that this could be the key to her salvation, and so she performed many experiments to rediscover the properties of the components to rebuild it, and was succesfsul, but without the ability to fly it was not much use.
Whether it was the fungi, or exposure to unknown materials, or isolation, or despair, or all of them, Remora's sanity was gradually eroded, becoming yet another lost soul wandering the desert. She believes the ruins she lives in and the surrounding area to be her domain, and has also set up a laboratory where she spends all her time researching the ruins and making upgrades to Gigant, that is all her entire world is. She definitely won't take kindly to intruders into her world, even though that is her only hope of being saved.
Personality:
Spoiler
Wants to take over the world in the name of SCIENCE, in a nutshell. Her perception of world and science are too far removed already though to really mean anything though. She would probably just appear to be totally crazy, since she has been separated from society for an indefinite period of time. Is rehabilitation possible? Who knows?

Pretty much completely defensive-oriented, although can deal massive damage to flyers and take advantage of the opponent's weaker defensive stat. Mainly justs sits there and takes hits, and counterattacks both melee and ranged. By the time crossbows become outclassed I'll just take Mind over Body. Gun sprite courtesy of some Super Robot Wars game.
I also wanted to take Wanderer's Gait but there was no way I could justify it unless it comes with a jetpack (promotion upgrade maybe?), so I took Mountaineer instead.
