Re: Well That Was Unexpected Thread II: Now with 230% more lasers!
I think my largest complaint with these recent strips is that they're too busy. Between the backgrounds and all the detail in some of the character designs, it's getting a bit hard to tell what's going on at points.
It's kinda like the 21C Transformers designs, they've got tons of components in them and at times (like when they're transforming) it's a little hard to tell what's actually happening. The 20C Transformers were substantially more simplistic and the graphics were subpar by today's standards but at least you could tell what was going on.
Right now, you've got planes flying through the air and row upon row of faceless soldier in the background, plus a few fairly decent character designs, plus a big dragoness and a large detailed metal dragon robot-thing. That adds up to quite a lot of clutter in frames that aren't quite large enough to hold them all.
Re: Well That Was Unexpected Thread II: Now with 230% more lasers!
It's hard enough making the Battle for Eternus panels, those closeup shots and overlapping panels are insanely hard. the endless expanse of faceless soldiers all doing the same exact thing is awkward enough. Generally, in terms of a real battle, people in the background makes it more realistic. However, the text bubbles are a new one.

Besides, it's not as popular as you might've been lead to believe, check the date on the first post of the first thread.
We're encroaching on our 2nd year anniversary. I suppose that makes this the longest running OotS fancomic.
Anyways, if you like what you see, I highly encourage that you spread the word of this comic's existence to everyone ya know on GitP.
Comic 285 is up. Hopefully, be able to get something done for Christmas.

ABR, Remember, C2H5OH and Endless all have you beat in terms of time, but you have a larger archive than most of those. (ABR has you beat by over 1.5K comics. )

So why did he change into the fuzzy circle after going out the door and the machine god-dude go "Glad you followed my advice"? What advice was he given?

No, I got the joke. It was just SO completely out of place in that comic! It's like seeing a Micheal Jackson joke in a book of Shakespeare! Sort of.
It just really threw me off that comic.
Nice Christmas comic, by the way. I don't get why Torn forgets that it's Christmas Eve while she's holding a Christmas tree, though. Very random joke. Not in a good way. But the whole "Christmas Elf" logic fail thing was hilarious.
Re: Well That Was Unexpected Thread II: Now with 230% more lasers!
Well for the Anniversary Special I was thinking of doing my first Q&A for this comic. Basically, just ask questions about the characters themselves or a general question you'd like to see any of the characters answer.
And tomorrow, hopefully, i'll be able to post my guest comic to [CENSORED BY THE INQUISITION] and post our guest comic from [CENSORED BY THE INQUISITION].
Re: Well That Was Unexpected Thread II: Now with 230% more lasers!
Reasonably good plot I think, but I am too out of it to be sure.
I am up to 117 as I write this. Your layout and grammar often have mistakes. At one point you repeated an entire panel for no decernable reason, and then there was something where you had the "unsound effect" for a guy's head getting disintegrated/blown up/otherwise destroyed in the panel AFTER the energy weapon fired. In 117 there is a grammar mistake in panel 5.
Re: Well That Was Unexpected Thread II: Now with 230% more lasers!
117? That's friggin' old. Nevertheless, typos and lapses in grammar and issues with text-bubble creation, or duplicate panels are quite difficult to fix if I don't know they exist. If you find one or several, let me know where they are and i'll see what I can do.
That, and Xeno's line in panel 5 in 117 is god-awful.
