Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Guys, I came up with an idea on how the programmer escapes the sigege of his house.
A guy dressed like the other AMEN minions, but with no helment and brown hair, grabs the programmer, and whispers "I'm not evil like them. I'll buy you time. Run. Meet me at Trog's Tavern, tomorrow at 5 PM"
The programmer proceeds to flee with the mysterious non-evil AMEN member yells he went in the OTHER way.

That is not a bad idea. I've been pretty busy lately so it will take me a couple of days to resume the drawing. While I don't get back any artist can feel free to take over this project for a while.

That is widely depending on how you would do it.
You could make an epic story about the roaches being left behind in the confusion and getting through many hardships until they finally manage to become rulers of an entire world unseen by humans, you could do a goofy story about them looking for a replacement for the crown their king had, you could make it a daily gag about the exploits of them wandering around Xykon's castle.
You could make it anything!
So it's all up to what you want to do, your imagination sets the limits

MS Paint? Really?

The Dillinite made me giggle though. Declared canon.
*gives permission to use any and all of my characters*
Of particular note would be KR. She's one of WATCHTOWER's main personalities.

Well, that and the rules. The Roaches being Rich's intellectual property, and all that. >.>
I still consider myself a feminist despite having a biological attraction to certain parts of female anatomy and the desire to now and again see plate metal curvaceously wrapping around their sensual forms in a cradle of cold, sumptuous, steel.

I had the same reaction, MS Paint? Seriously? It's much easier just to scan some doodle in and much nicer looking too.
Cool picture, Kid.
Isn't that covered under it being a fan comic? If it's not then Rich might have to be informed but I don't think he'd have anything against it
Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Does anyone want to write a dark & gritty modern fantasy comic, similar to Skulduggery Pleasant but more rebel-ish? My current idea is a girl discovers she has magical powers (which are being secretly restricted by the president/some authority figure) and gets chased somehow. It's pretty vague, so right now I'm brainstorming.
(note: by "write" I mean write out the dialogue -which I am terrible at- and help out with building a cohesive plot- which I am also terrible at. )
EDIT: Her powers would probably be communicating/ordering around ghosts, which could be a great way to kick-start... some sort of plot. Maybe she coul use the ghost's superpowers, too...

I am willing to write for that, sounds like fun and gives me an opportunity to actually co-write something
Might need to warn you that I will make 42 jokes a week about Ghostwhispering whether I get the job or not
You wake up at Seatac, SFO, LAX. You wake up at O'Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, BWI. Pacific, mountain, central. Lose an hour, gain an hour. This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time.
Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
How does this idea for a webcomic sound to you guys ? Combine Dungeons & Dragons races, classes, magic system and stuff with Dwarf Fortress's megaprojects, insanity and FUN.
So ? Opinions ?

Hey guys I have been doodling these guys in class (I'm not much of realworld artist) and I finally decided to draw them on Inkscape. This is just a random comic I made and when I get a chance I'll have character introductions, but here it is!

You can just call me Kay or Kur. Easier than finding an umlaut code on the interwebz.

Have a lot of small panels, showing guns firing, and bullets hitting flesh. Make the transition between slides as long as possible while still feeling quick, for example a hand blocking a punch, and then punching the other guy in the face.
Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
While the chaos of the situation would be quite fun, remember to always make it clear to understand what's happening. Nobody's going to understand and enjoy your story if a guard reacts to a punch in the face like he got hit in the family jewels.
But beyond that? Fight scenes should have a lot of moment-to-moment and action-to-action transitions , with a few subject-to-subject ones in there (that's when the panel transitions to another moment, to another action, and to a different character. Honestly, I'm not that great at explaining it. You should check out some of Scott McCloud's book, specifically Making Comics. It's great), add a few motion lines for kicks and stuff, and keep the composition flowing.
Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Hm, guys, if I want to do little mini-essays on various facets of webcomicery, where would I put them? Considering that I still intend them to focus largely on this subforum?

I don't know, essays usually go in Arts and Crafts, but maybe this counts as the same kind of stuff as the Comic Lab
