And what a quick switch to politics here with Kiel going meta or really punching holes in the 4th wall (or both!). One little thing I don't think the forum posters on the DT forums picked up on was that Kiel is doing the much the same thing Diva was (getting as much power as she can and keeping a lid on things) and for basically the same reasons.

Not only does Kiel kick down the fourth wall, Kharla sees throught it.
And she is an old time Dr Who fan.
I have been rather sure Kharla could see through the 4th wall for some time now actually. (Earth seems to be one of the other dimenstions she can see)If you look back most of her "dolls" are dressed in costumes that come from Earth. The one idiot that threatened Kiel before thre time skip got turned into Charlie McCarthy and Kharla's personal servents where dressed as maids.
Also I noticed that the shadows (the forum members) vanished after Kiel decked Maki (though they did seem to help Kiel hit her). Running away does seem to be a good idea with Kharla.
I think she invented heavy metal. All we need is someone who will be Judas Priest.

Looks like Kiel has a new minion. I guess this is how she is trying to reform the Clan. Save those that have a chance and try to off the others. And the Forum Shadows can speak.
Naal is still in there and it looks like the original parts of her are still aging. Funny that the forum shadow retreated behind the 4th wall for a bit. And it looks like a fight. Khaless vs Kiel (and the Forum Shadow). Don't think Kiel can win this one. But Naal might. She eats mana was well as flesh. Could she eat Khaless? And maybe gain some of her abilities?

Aparently there is no such thing as a "safe taint". Either you merge with a demon on some level and kinda become a demon. Or the demon eats your soul for lunch. Khalass is a Class A %&$! and very good at manipulating people.
At this point I have a real question about who is really in charge with her and Snads. It really sounds like that Khallas is setting up for a demon invasion and takeover of the world and Snads is its patsy. While Snads getting shafted isn't bad they whole world getting shafted certainly is.
Fortunatly Kiel is rather good at manipulating things herself. She gave someone ELSES opinion, not her own on how to be a "hero" (A Forum Shadow spoke for her on this?). The Forum Shadows certainly a demonstarting a will of their own and can express their own opinions, though only Kiel can hear them speak. Seems that they cannot give Kiel info about the Drowtales world she does not already know. But at least they can tell her about where they are from. I wonder how the Forum Shadows will react if/when they meet some of the other main characters?
Do you think Kiel is Drow Tale's equivalent of Deadpool (Snarky, 4th wall breaking and humorous) and Pinkie Pie (Humorous, 4th wall breaking)?
I wonder what three of them have in common.

I think in part not a lot of people here follow DT. (Which is sad) and sometimes there is not really a lot to talk about.
I first read DT back before/when there was some...uh..."controversy" with regards to the main character. In general I thought the story had great potential but was very confusing. After the some of the rewrites and repostings, I tried again, but really the larger the archive gets, the more confused I am when I try to read it. I constantly feel like DT is either a sequel or companion piece, and I'm missing a whole lot of extraneous information that would help tie things together.
Is there anywhere I could go to maybe get a cliff-notes version, or a chapter-by-chapter summary that I can read along with the archive to help me understand things?

The wiki's good for characters, not so much for plot recaps.
For the more recent updates, Kern usually posts a summary of what happened on the page on the forums, and I seem to recall the rewritten chapters having summaries in the archive proper.
TvTropes has a recap page, but I don't know how useful that is.
For anything else I guess you could always just ask here or on the Drowtales forums.

This civil war is just as worse as War of Five Kings. I don't know who to root for? So is Drow Tales becoming like Game of Thrones (backstabbing, civil war, and redneck royalty).

Sarcastic. Most of the leaders are at best ruthless and out for their own goals. Several of them are utter monsters. We just lost one of the few truely decent ones. (No wonder Diva ruled with an iron hand. It was the only way to keep everyone from killing each other. The Baron from Girl Genius and Diva would understand each other very quickly) The only people to really root for are the "kids" who are at least trying to do the right thing.

Well, it looks like Chiri is NOT on the side of starting a war. I wonder if she is the one that will figure out who really killed her mother? She alread knows inside it was not Kiel, but she needs REAL good proof.

You mean a civil war within one of the fractions involved in the civil war? Chel is starting to look like Beirut. The Kyorl had it comming, if you ask me. They are damn creepy and think they know it all.
So first the Kyorls have to "sort out" their internal differences, then they have to sort out the Duvs and then on to the Shargress clan. Yeah, good luck with that. Quain will land on all of them like a ton of bricks.
