The Light Elves still think that the war between the Light and Dark Elves (now Drow) is still going on hot and heavy. Which is very odd since one of the very few people alive from the time of the wars (Diva) wants peace. The Dorw actually seem to be a lot less racist aganst the Light Elves than the Light Elves are against the Drow. I think that there is something very rotten with the Light Elves and it might make Chell look like a better place to be as a result (scary thought!). I think Freya is all right, but the others? Not so much. Chri and company might be needing a few visions to make it out in one piece.
I don't think it is all the drow, but Chiri is at this point. Remember she used to feel that she was unworthy and impure because of her light elf blood. This overworld trip has caused her to do a lot of growing.

Growth in her arm muscles perhaps?
What?! Chiri thinks she has modesty? Let me read drowtales again, I think I missed something.
The drowussu is not...That does not bode well for the drowussu. I think Chiri was wise to hold onto her sword there.
Even without her sword Chiri is a lot more dangerous than the light elves suspect. The light leves have more or less lost mana arts and Chiri has trained long on hard with them for combat. One little spark and WOSH! Instant firestorm.
sorry, but i don't see that.
as far as i can tell, it's all about her blade(s) and her pride.
Maybe my english fail me. I read it as relating to nudety. She wants to remain modest, as in keeping her clothes on. She did not strip down like the others.
"You will not have my modesty" -> "I will not show skin"
And the latest page reminds me of a gas chamber...

hmm, i guess you can read it that way...
but given chiri's nature and the fact that the light elf just treated her with quite some condescendence, i still think it's about pride.
("you will not have my modesty." -> "i won't be modest just because you want it.")

So any thoughts, insights that you want to share with us? Who is your favorite character? Who do you hope is the next to die horribly?
Also, todays comic was SPOOKAY! <-That's a new word I just learned.
Ummm... Artwork is spectacular, but makes guest comics seem bland compared to it, Favorite character was probably the half-dragon dude (Rik?) and i honestly feel bad for what happened for him. (though i should probably feel worse that i was rooting for him for awhile), AND Preferably no one, though that is unlikely.
and i'm probably gunna stop reading for like... a year so new comics can come up XD
the first chapter of "space age" isn't the only daydream reading sample.
also, you should at least read "the longest wait" from the side story section. it's about how liriel came to be.

Light Elf Ninja Assassins! And it looks like they suck at their jobs.

Yes, this story explains Queen Blueberry the Third and a lot of the situation in the ValSarren household. Seeing Diva's real personality is also important since she seems to be takeing the role of a teacher/mentor to Ariel at the moment.
Seems that this time there is no filler between chapter 29 and 30 and we are getting back to the main storyline (to Ariel and the underworld). Somehow I didn't find Chiri's sidequest adventure much interesting to be honest.
Judging from the cover, Diva and her relationship with the Sharen will be a focus of chapter 30.
No, chapter 29 did not make a whole lot of sense to me either. Why assassins? Are they so weak that they can't kill three elves, two of which is children and one has no training? Who or what is in charge here? Wut?

Well it was obviously an expanding of the drowtales universe. After Chiri learned that the grey drow were originally descended from light elves, she did now see some surviving light elves in action. And surprise, their mindset is not so different from the Kyrols. Kill, purge ect. all originating from a strong longing for purity and stability. Also they have a rather hierarchical society too with several (de-facto) leaders at the top.
The major difference was that the light elves are obviously not such an warlike and battle hardened society as the drow, therefore their assassins failed.
But what does that contribute to the general story? I believe we will never see these light elves again, or at least it will take a long time. Chiri failed to rescue the slaves, but does she think over the past events? No, she states at the end that she wants to burn things (again). She almost burned herself to death (againē ) and if that event does not lead to a reflection on her part, I don't know what will. I think that's the main reason that I don't like her (opposed to let's say Chrystel) Chiri has no emotions except being upset or angry (with righteous fury.... zzzz) and she has no second thoughts about anything.
EDIT: Chiri actually did had second thoughts one time, when she stated her wish to kill herself to her 'mother'. What a drama queen!
Can someone tell me why they all have a mole or wart on the middle of the nose?
Well I think they try hard to draw 'realistic' noses. In my opinion those 'warts' represent the outline of the tip of the nose. I did never see them as warts or moles. It's the current drowtales drawing style, which changes all the time. Overall the style improved a great deal if you compare this with this.
The original chapter 1-8 are now not even accessible anymore online (I still have them on my hard disk though), which I find a shame, because it does show how Kern continuously improved over time.
Speaking of which, today is drowtales 10th anniversary. I think ten years is quite a time for a webcomic, even if not all ten years can be seen today
