Julian comes back. Looking at Mortley, he lets go of the question he was holding back all the time
"I believe we might have no need for chains of any kind. You are bound to obey Espadri's order to not leave the city until either you our we are dead. Can you swear allegiance to a new master?"

Mortly
"You are correct that I cannot leave here. I can swear aligiance to whomever I want, just as a human can. Naturally I'd still be compelled to follow Espadri's orders, but I don't think it will be much of an issue since he'll assume I'm dead if he sees any of you again."
Gideon "Though it may not be my place to say, I don't see why you need to carry around a pet vampire in the first place." Gideon glances absently about the town before continuing. "And, considering his involvement here, I don't imagine that the villagers would take kindly to seeing him leave unharmed."
Mortly
"What!? You can't kill me! I never wanted to be part of this war! I'm a slave in this, another victem, you here!? The one term of my surrender was that my life be spared! I told you everything you asked. You bastards! You're no better than Espadri!"
Shinobu: "...You aren't able to offer surrender. If Espadri orders you to attack again you will, and then whatever agreement will be broken. You give a false promise only.
I don't know why you are not dead, but you didn't surrender to me. I wasn't here when that happened, and I never would have agreed."
She steps towards him and holds her blade.
"You see, I'm a tool, just as you are a slave, and both of us live in shadows. But people like me exist only because of your evil. And so I will give you true death."
She stopped in front of him.
"I was worried the arm that commands me would have given me a different order. And then I'd have to make a difficult choice between my organization and my lord.
Fortunately, Lord Sheron has allowed me to kill you.
I'll give you merciful death then, as is my order's gift to you."
ooc: So Shinobu would kill him. Unless the DM wants to do something different~
Mortly
"There is no mercy in this act. You still have full control of your mind and body, you're a fool to give that away. I curse you with my dieing breath. May you see many more years of suffering and bondage."
Mortly dies.
Spoiler
There's no problem killing Mortly. If there were, I wouldn't have put him at your mercy.
Gideon
Gideon quietly watches Shinobu as the execution is performed. That is... an odd girl. I suppose that the entire group is a bit odd, to be fair. Afterwards, he clears his throat.
"A grim task, but it was all that he deserved. The body should be burnt along with the rest. Sheron," Gideon continues, "... it was Sheron, yes? Or Lord Sheron, if you so prefer. I'd like to discuss something with you."
The archer approaches Sheron's side. "I don't know what you and yours have gotten yourselves into, but you've obviously made some sinister enemies. I was wondering if you'd be willing to hire me. I've shown myself to be a capable fighter, I think, and it seems that you're the sort who could always use more of those."

It's just Sheron, you need to have a king to be a lord don't you. He says bitterly. We always need more fighters, if you're willing to sort out the payment issue at a later date I'd be happy to hire you.
"And here we are. Its time to see how the peasants we've recruited fare in combat with their new powers," Espadri surveys the assembled vampires, a frown forming on his face, "Although by the looks of them, I don't think they'll last long. Don't you agree?"
"Yes, master."
The shaman stares straight ahead, not bothering to turn and face Espadri as he speaks. The hulking warrior ignores her indifference and continues talking.
"Have you ever gotten the feeling that we're wasting our time? Look at these wretches - they didn't put up much of a fight when we found them, why should they be any more useful as vampires? Have you ever felt the same way?"
"Yes, master."
Suddenly, Espadri spies the party approaching on the east road.
"It appears Mortley has failed me again, and for the last time. So be it. I trust you will serve better than that coward did, won't you?"
"Yes, master."
"Good, then I leave them to you."
Espadri drops to the ground on all fours and transforms into a large black wolf, then bounds off into the forest. Once he is out of sight, the shaman turns to her troops.
"The enemy closes. Defend your leader. Buy some time. Don't let them interfere."
She runs into the middle of the group heading towards the northern half of town, putting distance between herself and the oncoming heroes.
Chapter 5: In The Nick of Time
Objective: Defeat all enemies
Secondary Objective: Save as many villagers as possible
Defeat Conditions: Sheron or Somolt defeated
Turn 1 Begin:
"Well," Drake looks around himself. "We are, uh, surrounded. That simplifies things."
Quickly moving up close to the biggest, burliest hulk he could find, ready to protect those behind himself, the shaman quietly starts forming his spell underneath his breath. It takes a moment for him to realize that maybe he's running a little too close for his own liking, and that ax looks very big and sharp this close up. He backs away quickly.
"Flux!" The shaman yells, trying to dodge and talk and cast at the same time. "Fluxfluxfluxflux!"
Move one left and two up, attack Fighter 12.

Mercury laughed loudly, breaking her extended silence. "Excellent! Another chance to bust some heads is exactly what I needed... well, that and a full body beer..." The bandit drew her sword and charged into the melee, capitalizing on Drake's attack and cutting into the large ax wielder.
Anything to keep my mind busy with other things. "C'mere, fang-y, I'll give you blood!"
Action:
Move left 2 and up 2. Attack Fighter 2 after Drake.

Looking at Mercury charging and holding Aurum's reins to prevent him from doing the same and beging to blindly rampage in the battlefielend Julian thinks that these people had no strategic thinking...
He could forgive the wyvern. Something in the last battle where he actively participated apparently made him lust for more. But that was not a good idea. He remenbered the thiefs from the first battle. They had caused several problems. He saw one by the walls and decided to exploit his own advantage of not having to worry much about it. Attacking the thief, he quickly takes cover behind the walls and waits there
Move 3 spaces up, 2 left. Attack Thief. Canto one step right

Gideon swiftly moves behind Karvek, his bow armed. "Um, there are quite of them... It seems like we've stumbled upon a popular place. " Grinning, he trains his bow on the closest enemy.
Action:
Move two spaces left and two spaces forward.
Hector surveyed the area, breathing a sigh at the lone swordsman in the way of the vampires. "Fools, thinking they could handle the onslaught by themselves." He stopped and brushed his hair out of his face, not that it mattered. He could see the auras, black. All black. Deadly, deathly black. They were all marked with imminent death. The swordsman, the vampires, all in his range were dead. But... wait. Was that? Yes. Beyond the houses, he could sense an aura. A healthy green. There were more here than he could tell immediately. But who were they? Friends? Foes? Either way, it was his duty to rid the world of the horrid vampires.
Hector glanced down at his own aura. A bright crimson. The future was untold for him. He headed towards the darkness, summoning up a ball of light to defend himself. "Swordsman, fall back. They'll eat you alive." His voice gave no hint of urgency, nearly monotone but with just enough melody to indicate that Hector could care less.
Hector moves up four and right one.
(In looking at my stats: That 70% Hp growth sure didn't help anything. And gaining luck each level with 30%. Interesting.)
(Also, in the stats, Imach is still alive and at full health)

Fire Emblem Spritesman Inna Playground - Let me know if you set up a game!
[Killing the thieves is probably our best course of action for now- without them, they have no means with which to get to the important NPC. With that done, we can pick off the rest (and the inevitable reinforcements) at our relative leisure. My suggestion:
Julian moves three squares left, Attacks Thief 4, and Canto three squares left and one down.
Shinobu moves up one square, Attacks Thief 5.
Mannfred moves down three squares, left two, and heals Shinobu.
Drake moves up five, attacks Myrmidon 9.
Mercury moves up four, left one, waits.
Karvek moves left four and up one, waits.
Gideon moves left four and up one, waits.
Sheron moves left four, waits.
This eliminates most of the upper enemy group (and all their thieves), and puts Julian, Karvek, Gideon, and Sheron on the path to striking against the left group. Mannfred will be close enough to heal anyone but Mercury and Drake with his own move, and can heal those two if they retreat back (in case of emergency).]
