Join Duty. Help us protect the innocents from the ZONE.
Deadly anomalies, dangerous mutants, anarchists, and bandits.
None of them will stop Duty on it's triumphant march towards
saving the planet!
My Dearest,
Today, we finally put together an expedition to the center of the Zone. They say there are artifacts granting wishes there; but even if those are only better versions of those that we can find here, it will be good. Governments will pay a ton for them.
Who is in the expedition, you ask? Funny thing, we were send moving by them soldiers. Yes, the guys who like to exchange pieces of lead with us, usually. Not today. Their leader is some sort of spec-ops, and hired our unit to guide him deeper. Already lost some men, he said. Money is strange (never saw so much gold rubles), but good. Much more durable than paper.
Well, that's half of the team. The other? Good Stalkers, just like me. We have parity with them military grunts, and besides, starting a fight deep in the zone is suicide, so we'll be safe.
I miss you, I hope we'll be together soon. Strange, the Anomaly-warning sirens won't shut up today, thought it looks like nothing happens. Are they defective? Anyway, I hope it's a good sign.
Yours sincerely,
Mеченый

Roles:
Monolith:
Spoiler
Strelok [Stalker] – Once, one of the most experienced Stalkers. Now, however, he is under Monolith's influence, and is actively working against those who try to disturb its sleep. Nothing shall stand in his way in this mission, though he is under weaker influence than the Monolithians. He can assume any one role on the beginning on the game. For the rest of the game, this role will replace 'Monolith' in the scry results.
Monolithians [Team Wolf] - Unlike Zone "zombies", ex-Stalkers with minds fried by the anomalies of the center of the Zone, Monolithians are still capable of rational thoughts and human behavior. Still, they're as lost as the zombies - the anomaly they walked into brainwashed them into fanatical followers of the strange powers lurking in the center of the Zone.
Expedition:
Spoiler
Duty [Team Seer] – You are experienced Stalkers, capable of spotting the dangers of the Zone, and recognizing Zone's influence. Most of you can, that is. And, the recent Anomaly that clouded your minds didn't helped matters any. If only you could remember what it was...
Guide [seer] - You weathered the Anomaly better than the others. Standard accurate scry, results show Faction only.
Doctor [optimist] - Generally, a nice guy. But, does he have what it takes to survive? Your scries are always true - except for Monolith. As you won't consciously suspect others, these are assigned random role.
Ghost [pessimist] - You're always assuming the worst... Sadly, you're often wrong. Your scry returns the result other than the target's real role.
Fang [fool] - You drank too much anti-radiation fluid today, even before you ate breakfast. 50% chance of being right, 50% of random scry result.
Military [Team Baner] - The hard men and women of the army. You act as Major's Iwan retinue, shielding him from harm. Or, at least, you try. Even veterans of Specnaz are no match for the Zone.
Plut. Porfirij [baner] - You can accurately cover your allies with fire from your trusted Ak-107. Standard baner.
Kpr. Semen [lunatic] - Your aim is wild and your enthusiasm huge. Streams of lead you pour into countryside help, though, suppressing both enemies and allies. Baner, who also keeps his target voided.
Szer. Jakub [gunny] - Does not like NCOs. Madman you find talking about napalm and beaches in movies. Likely to shoot you in the back. Your target counts as having one "bane" on him less. Yes, this can make baned target actually killable.
Chor. Jurij [hero] - Calm, precise, his support is more focused on making you safe from any possible angle. Everyone who targets his target is voided.
Commander - Major Iwan Iwanowicz Iwanow. You are in charge of the whole shebang. Everyone scries you as Commander, even Fool. You can order your people to hold their fire once per game (counts as careless daybane) or redouble their efforts (your day vote counts as two, cooldown two days).
Rules:
Spoiler
Standard victory conditions.
Everyone is told he is in one of the teams. Only Commander and Strelok are told precise role. Everyone else, guesses.
Auto-lynches will take place after 3 missed days. Total, not consecutive. The Zone does not forgive.
Days last 48 hours, Nights last 24 hours.
If there is a tie for lynch, the player who reached the number first will be lynched shot.
Everyone who will try any shenanigans or rule exploits without notifying narrators first, will be shot as well.
Helgraf's scry interference rule is not in effect :P
"Well, the Great and Powerful Trixie can't actually transport you to Equestria... But!
The Great and Powerful Trixie can beat you over the head until you think that's what happened!"
What if the Strelok chooses to disguise him/herself as the commander? Will s/he always be scried as commander, or what?
Well... Possibly. But what would be the point? To die gloriously one day later?
Keep in mind that while this might be an effective tactic, it's also pretty dangerous one, so I feel player choosing it shouldn't be further penalized.

Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.
I suppose I'll join, though I'll need clarification on what counts as a 'shenanigan'.

I'm going to need something a little more specific than a book definition.

Turns out these rusty buckets were not exactly wrong. They didn't signaled close anomalies; they signalized an Emission. What's that, you ask? It's some sort of detonation from withing the Zone that shifts all the anomalies around and which does strange things to people caught too close in the open.
Hell, I remember boys saying all these zombies around the Research Institute are ex-Stalkers caught by something emission-like that dwells out there. Meh, probably yet another legend born out of anti-radiation stuff overuse.
So, good thing is - Emission means lots of new artifacts. Bad? A lot of anomalies changed place. So, I don't think we'll make it into the and out as fast as I though. But we'll manage, after all, we always did.
Huh, I feel my head tingling. Like someone freed a swarm of bees. Funny that, never felt like this. Still, I'm okay. More okay than the others, though, I caught them suddenly stopping a few times at random intervals. I wonder if they're sick?
Best of luck, and take good care of the kids.
Yours sincerely,

So, Day 1 has officially started. Everyone should got a role, I think. I even kept one as backup in case someone wanted to join after all. Though, I don't think that's likely. Everything should be good now.

In case anyone wonders: all 4 role PMs sent today. They also included images from the first post, but I didn't wanted them to load twice.
Spoiler
Monolith. The hardest and the most thankless job in the Zone falls to you. Go, stop this blasphemous incursion to the Zone from ever happening!
Duty. Bravest and best Stalkers out there. From now on, this includes you as well. Go, show the Monolith how you laugh at their threats!
To: Mjr. Iwan Iwanowicz Iwanow: Confidential. Dispose of the copy before starting operation. Target: Center of area designated "Zone". Mission: [Top Secret/Censored].
To: Special Platoon 451st: Confidential. Dispose of the copy before starting operation. Target: Center of area designated "Zone". Mission: ensuring mission's commander's arrival to designated point.
Dismissed.
A bit unconventional, but I tried to put the climate first and roles should be clear to everyone.
