Brandon's belly tightened with fear as the two boars charged. Memories of tales of how badly wild boars had savaged hunters in the past coursed through his mind in an instant.
He tossed his bow backwards and to one side and drew his sword and put on his shield, ready to attack as soon as they came within range of his blade.
Nathros' axe and Stefan's sling bullet fly wide of the charging boars who bear down on the party with great force.
The first jerks at the last possible second away from Nathros' spear, and while the boar and dwarf collide, neither is harmed. The second board strikes Brandon squarely and rattles the armored man.
Spoiler
Brandon: -4 hp
The two boars are now in melee range of all characters.

Brandon stifled a curse as the boar gored him. Even through his armor, he could feel the pain.
Memories of his mother telling her old war stories came to him and he struck again savagely his blade. There was no way Natalya Bor's son was going to lie down for anyone, much less an oinker.
Nathros unslings his shield draws his short sword and makes to defend himself.
Spoiler
Attack Roll:(1d20+1)[19] Damage Roll:(1d6+1)[5]

Brandon feels his swing strike true into the back of the boar and Stefan pounds at the angry beast with his mace. The boar shakes his head and bleats angrily but remains on his feet and begins to stumble away.
Nathros jabs his short sword into the side of the boar nearest him, spilling its blood onto the grass. It whips its head around, catching Nathros with a crooked tusk.
Spoiler
Boar #1 fleeing.
Nathros -2 hp
PCs turn.

Nathros redoubles his efforts to end the boar before it ends him:

After a moment of silence, Devin responds for the woodsmen. "Bran and Lann were born with axes in their hands - second generation loggers with obvious northern heritage like the good Lord. Markos and Ivan signed on a few years ago when business picked up. All of Threshold is on the rise it seems, but Lord Bost pays well and seems a reasonable enough boss."
The woodsman nod agreeably.
"What brings you into this line of work? Seems awfully dangerous."

Nathros can't quite land his short sword past the boar's tusk, but Brandon and Stefan converge on the great boar and fell it with solid blows. It drops to the ground with a snort and a gout of blood. The other boar seems to have disappeared into the surrounding tall grass.

Nathros grimaces, "Looks like dinner has presented itself."

Brandon Bor
Brandon staggered a bit as the second boar finally went down. Perhaps due to the wound, he sounded a bit dazed as he muttered, "Yay, bacon."
He glanced at the others, frowning and wincing as Stefan tried to fix his injury. "Let's not tell anyone how close we came to being gutted by a couple of pigs, okay? We'd never live it down."
Spoiler
There's a heal skill that lets you heal actual hit points without using magic? Cool.
"I wonder what had them in such a hurry to come out into the open? Could be worse beasts abroad." Nathros thanks Stefan for his ministrations and chuckles at Brandon's jest, before retrieving his axe and stowing his gear.

Back at camp
Jeanne restrings her bow, whistling a tuneless ditty. She says to whoever listens "I'll take double watch. We elves only need half the sleep of a human."
It would probably take a couple more loops around the campsite before the edge of the forest would be reached. Nothing more threatening than the boars appears, but anything could be lurking in the various patches of tall grass or behind hills. The boar seems somewhat diminished in size now that it isn't thrashing about but it would still be a considerable effort to move it.
Back at camp:
The men nod with interest. Devin ventures, "where are you from, originally, I mean?"

"Should not be too much work to build a litter and drag the carcass back to camp, or we could just butcher it here."

"Where am I from? Everywhere and nowhere. My family were nomads. Are nomads. As a bird pushes her young from the nest, so too am I on my own until I can prove my worth. If I were to call any place "home" it would be Alfheim, of course. I do enjoy the Duchy. You have many rivers and streams like veins pumping blood through the heart of the land." Jeanne stares longingly in the distance before making her rounds at camp.
"Almost as much effort butchering it as killing it," Nathros jokes.

Stefan sits down and takes his helmet off once he's back at camp. Wiping his brow, he comments to Nathros, "Yeah, let's remember to bait the boars towards our camp so we don't have to carry them the whole way back next time."
Looking around the camp he asks, "All was quiet here?"
Looking tired and bleeding from his leg wound, Brandon asks whoever of the men knows how to prepare a killed animal for food and other uses to see to the dead boar.
He tells everyone, "We were very lucky. I've heard stories, as I'm sure you have. Boars kill even experienced hunters with all the right equipment, much less amateurs who aren't even looking for 'em."
"It was pretty cool, actually. Nathros held the one firmly with that new shield of his. His spear was pretty busy too. At the same time Brandon cut the other one so bad it went screaming back to it's dirt pile." Stefan swings his arms as if wielding Brandon's sword.
"I've taken my vows to not shed the blood of the living, but if I hadn't..." He swings his imaginary sword again and grins.
"Well, this one here," Stefan motions to the fallen boar, "wishes he had run so fast as the first, but he didn't get the chance." He chuckles. "Whoever heard of hunting with a sword? But I swear to Petra, I saw it happen."
The young priest's story amuses the woodsmen who seem to be imagining the altercation along with his descriptions. They notice the wounds the adventurers have taken, but those seem to be well-tended already. They descend on the pig to assist with the slaughter.

Nathros chuckles inwardly at the apparently sincere words of Lyceios, and tries to imagine how the young cleric expects his mace to bloodlessly crack open the skulls of his enemies.
