Here is were you can post your sheets, roll dice, discuss game matters OOC, or just talk to one another if that's what you want. Please post your character sheet's link in your very first post in this thread though so I can easily find it. I also encourage you to think about inter-twining backgrounds if you want to, in order to bring a better party dynamic/cohesiveness to the table.
A young noblewoman of Sasserine and a junior member of the Dawn Council, Lavinia Vanderboren grew up as many minor noble children did, playing with her brother Vanthus and being is partner in crime for his pranks and jokes. This ended when Vanthus and herself poured love potions into a water tower, resulting in Lavinia being sent to the Thenelar Academy for Young Women.
Upon her return, she's had to shoulder the responsibility of her parent's estates and debts following their death in a ship fire not too long ago. Recents events have improved her fortune, but the knowledge that Vanthus had been stealing from her has hit the noblewoman hard.
The Crimson Fleet:
Spoiler
A loosely organized band of pirates known to operate in the oceans surrounding the Amedio Jungle. These scoundrels perform all manner of high-seas brigandage, slavery, and smuggling, operating from a foul harbor far to the south. Crimson Fleet captains are renowned for their ruthlessness and cruelty, but still hold to a perverse code of honor, such as it is. While stories of the Fleet razing and pillaging abound, the pirates give Amedio settlements and Sasserine a wide berth.
Islaran Family
Spoiler
The Islaran family has handed down the position of Harbormaster in Sasserine for generations, from one patriarch to the next. It's said that the, now deceased, current patriarch Keltar Islaran had been looking to give the position to his oldest son Aaron. However the young man disappeared, as well as Kelter's oldest daughter, some time ago leaving the aging man with three daughters looking to marry into wealthier families and a son who's desperately afraid of water as his choice of successors.

So we've got a rogue, a bard, a paladin of freedom, a transmuter, and a binder. An interesting party, to be sure. We seem to be lacking in the front ranks a bit, so Animesh will likely wind up fulfilling a melee role more often than not. Also, he might wind up as our party's primary healer, but that won't kick in for a while. As for my planned progression, I'm thinking of sticking with Binder for the whole thing; straight up Binder 20.
I'm a veteran of the Savage Tide campaign, and we face a long and difficult road. I won't let slip any spoilers, but the sooner we can afford a wand of Cure Light Wounds, the better.
I'd like to claim teal as the color of in-character speech.
As for intertwining backgrounds... well, Animesh is something of a loner. He keeps the source of his power a secret whenever possible; if any of you have worked with him before, or seen him fight at the arena or something, you probably think he is some manner of fighter or rogue.
I've got some questions for Callos concerning Pact Magic in general, but I'll save those for a PM later.
Anyway, I'm pumped!

Yeah, the scarcity of the front ranks was one of the factors that had me wavering on who to put into the group, believe me. Hopefully it won't be too much of a problem.
That said, just because you got to where you did (and you told me how far you got) doesn't make you a veteran. There was still a ways to go after that and I'll be changing up little things here and there so even you'll be surprised at the proper times.
That said, that said, I want to see how you all feel about this idea. That idea being that, rather then each character have their own color of text, that each language have it's own text color. The game that I played in the longest did such a thing because oftentimes the party would be talking amongst each other, oftentimes in different languages that others didn't but didn't point out they were speaking in a different tongue. It lead to some confusion and retcons of people mysteriously knowing stuff that was spoken in a tongue they couldn't understand when it was discovered later that they couldn't. Just throwing it out there to see your guy's opinion on the matter.

Dammit!
*reads Callos' post*
Sweet! Yeah, I actually like your idea about every different language having a different color. Can we agree on speaking in plain black color when we speak Common and we color our other languages? In that case, I'll chose DarkOrchid for Elven, Red for Abyssal and Green for Slyvan. If that's not what you had in mind or if anybody wants to do it differently, by all means, I'm open to suggestions.
Here is Adrie's character sheet. For connections with other characters... she's a bard. You're bound to see her perform in one inn or another. She probably doesn't know anybody of you personally, unless you've actually stepped to her and introduced yourself. If you did, lemme know and I'm sure we can work something out
Now lets get this show on the road and I'm glad to be a part of the team!

This place is not a place of honor…no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here… nothing valued is here.

Book of shadows, book of night, wake the beast and banish light.
Bardic Knowledge proved unhelpful, but mind re-rolling the Nobility/Royalty before I give out the info?

Well, to further explain my example, the colors we used was something like..
Blue was for when people were speaking in common.
Red was for the rare person who spoke draconic.
Orange was for halfling. (Dang sneaky halfling kept talking smack on everyone, but no one spoke halfling!)
Yellow was for Celestial
etc.
And so on. It helped in a fashion because people knew which color their languages were so if they saw one that they didn't recognize then they knew it right away.
So if you all are interested in it, we can work out a color code real fast that should serve us well in the long run...now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go look up the game that I played in the longest and reminisce about an old and angry necromancer with a bone hand and a penchant for foreign languages.

Hello everyone. Haven't played Savage Tide before, but I've heard it's a good campaign and we look to have an awesome DM, so I'm excited (so is Davina, but she doesn't let on).
Long story. And hey! You're using the soundtrack from Dragon! I can't tell you how much ass that kicks!
Not...entirely using it, mostly because I can't find all of it. Plus I'll be throwing in other songs that I also find appropriate when I can. I tend to use music and pictures a fair bit in my games to help people picture people, places, and events.

Here you go and lets hope it works better this time around.
Knowledge (nobility & royalty): [roll0]
Adrie
Spoiler
Recognizes the Vanderboren family name and knows that Lavinia is the eldest daughter of the family. She also recalls news of the tragic deaths of Verik and Larissa Vanderboren. The Vanderborens were survived by their two children, Lavinia and Vanthus. There has also been some rumors that the family has fallen on hard financial times.

Knowledge local if someone wants to identify the four figures, but more importantly, a notice!
I encourage you and your characters to build attachments and relationships to the NPCs. I'm not the sort who's going to go out of their way to make you regret having friends, living relatives, or love interests and so on. It helps to fill out the story with more then just 'doom and fighting' if you know what I mean.

A knowledge local check would be more appropriate, but I suppose bardic knowledge would work too. I'll check for what information you might glean in a moment or two.

I'll make a... oh, wait, binders only get 2 skill points a level.
On a side note, I'm so used to righting 'teal' in the color box-thing that I'm probably not going to be able to stick to the language-as-color thing very well.
I usually use spoilers for other languages, but I know they can get kind of ugly or bulky...

Would bardic knowledge work on recognizing the four individuals? If yes, here are the rolls.
Bardic knowledge for half elf: [roll0]
Bardic knowledge for dwarf: [roll1]
Bardic knowledge for woman: [roll2]
Bardic knowledge for handsome man: [roll3]
If the application of knowledge isn't possible in this case, simply disregard this
The half-elf is unrecognizable to Adrie but she recognizes the other three. The dwarf is Kaskus Kiel, the woman is Liamae Teslikaria, and the handsome man is Tolin Kientai. All of the three are members of a mercenary group known as the Jade Ravens that have been in the employ of the Vanderboren family for some time.

That she doesn't know (not a high enough roll/s), just their company and the names of 3/4th's of them.
