So, I've run into a little problem. Two days ago I managed to switch my laptop for a slightly newer one (finally). Side effect of that was that I've moved from using Windows XP to using Windows 7. And after moving my stuff from one machine to the other I've learned that Touhou games from number 10 upwards won't run because they need d3dx9_40.dll - this looks like a DirectX 9 judging by the name, but since Win7 comes pre-packed with DirectX 11... In other words did someone meet with this problem andd knows how to get around it?

I don't actually own Windows 7, but.. Right click, properties, look for a compatibility mode check boxes. If you don't see any, make a shortcut and look for them.
There are definitely people here who actually use Windows 7 though, so..

I use Windows 7.
Solution is very simple really. Just install DirectX 9. Grab it off the Microsoft webpage.

I use Windows 7 on my netbook as well, but I'll be damned if I remember what, if anything, I did. In any case, whatever it was, all the games now run smoothly.

I've been playing the touhou fighting games for a bit and I want to start online play but I have no idea how to set up the Ip stuff. Is there a guide anywhere where I can see how to do all that jazz?

Yes. Add me on Steam or, failing that, PM me for my IM. I'll help you through it.
Only, y'know, not. You played amazingly well. I kinda got steamrolled, especially in the first game
Nope. When a game gets to last round of the last set with health that low on both competitors then it is not a steam roll. Ever. Except the first match that was kind of a rolling yes .

Hello, I'm a newbie here wanting to join the Hisouten party and I wondering how to go about playing someone else on Tunngle.
Simply go into a lobby like earlier and then either host a game or connect to someone else's game using the "VS Network" option in Soku's menu. If you're going to connect to another person's game, right click their name in the user list on the right side of Tunngle and select "Copy IP," paste the IP address somewhere and add "10800" to the end of it, re-copy the entire address, and then select "Connect to IP from Clipboard" from Soku's VS Network. Alternatively, just enter in the address and port manually using the second option from VS Network.
I would've played you earlier, except I was doing homework at the time and didn't know who you were.

Wait, that means I might have to face Cog again in the loser's half. AUGH SUIKA AGAIN WHYYYYY
Speaking of which, is there an updated bracket yet?
Well, I'll use Suika in the obligatory first game, then switch to Yukari or Patchouli or, well, something that bugs you less. Assuming I even get that far. Better?

Aha, that was just me joking around. Don't actually switch, because that would feel like cheating. If anything, I might as well switch, since I was too stubborn to use someone else that time.

Oh, sorry. Bit hard to tell.
In any case, I'd rather not annoy you or anyone else, so
You get two lurkers today! (Well, I'm sure you have more than two, but you get two of us to post. Details.)
So. Yeah. Lurker posting. Mostly because I wanted to be able to join the Soku party too, and also to be able to say that you got two lurkers in one day, and since another lurker posting is a rare occurrence, I figured I might as well post now. (This paragraph is pointless and so is reading it.)
I don't have Tunngle (yet, but it's a free download and I'm looking at the page now), but I would like to learn to play competently. I mean, more competently. I'm decent enough to beat the AI on Hard most times with Meiling, but I'm not sure if that's because I'm good or if the AI doesn't know how to fight melee-spam in the corner. Probably the latter.

I don't really have anything to put here.
Please try finish your match within day or two.
Please schedule a match ahead of time. After about two days, you will be required to work out a scheduled time or you may be disqualified.
When registering for the tournament please register what character you will use in the first round; you must always use this character in the first round. At the end of a set who ever lost is allowed to change characters for the next set. This is to prevent unfair counter picking first round, and to make character selection simpler in general.
Sanctioned matches must have at least one other registered player watching as a referee, make sure to save replays in case of contested matches. If you feel the ref was biased or otherwise a case of an unfair ref send a PM and the replays.
Games will be held using Tunngle, in Tunngle's 12.3 lobby.
If possible, please try to coordinate with at least a ref, but hopefully a streamer and commentators via the chat room of the GitP Hisoutensoku Steam Group. Also, please post the coordinated time for your match for the convenience of the refs, streamers and commentators.
If you are interested in streaming or commentating, show up and be available in the group chat room, watch for match times, and/maybe send a PM or a Steam message to KBF.

This. Oh so much this. I regret massacring the computer now just because it's gotten me into the habit of rushing and mashing out combos like a berserk idiot. You can get away with straight-up offense against the computer because it's so terrible with defense and stops guarding in the middle of blocks to let you hit it, but doing that against people will usually only net you a punch/kick/weapon/bullet/spell/other to the face.
