So I've got an idea for a subplot that could start in, I dunno, a handful of posts or so - the rescue of a poor Mammoth Blackberry caught out in the sudden snow. Anypony interested?
Well Fox Trot's hanging out on the streets not doing much, he'd probably help if only because he'll think it'll make him look good in front of the fillies xP
Re: [FiM] My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic RP Recruitment Thread
I dunno. As prepared for anything Berry is with the stuff in her lantern (Which is quite frankly ridiculous - I couldn't tell you how she fits it all into something so small. Must be magic or something.), it's all tiny. She'll probably be shovelling that snow until 10 A.M. tomorrow EST (roughly speaking).
Hint hint.

Re: [FiM] My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic RP Recruitment Thread
In real life, the Mammoth Blackberry is pretty much what it sounds like, basically a ridiculously long blackberry. From the pictures I've seen, it is easily longer than a hand's width.
In Equestria, the Mammoth Blackberry is an elephant-shaped (and -sized) plant/animal hybrid that takes root at night and during cold weather to "sleep" and absorb nutrients, while in the day they're mobile and photosynthesize and drink water through their vine-trunk. During mating season, the trunks of female Mammoth Blackberries bloom, and after fertilization, the seeds form berries along the trunk.
Hypothetically speaking, if one were caught in a sudden blizzard in spring, they'd put down roots and try to weather it out. Should they be caught in rocky soil near a lake they were drinking from at the time, say, they could be in real trouble.
This is all hypothetical, of course.

Re: [FiM] My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic RP Recruitment Thread
That's the way I approach characters I write in funny settings. They're actors and I write the script. Then in OOC they insult the poor overworked writer.
"Overworked? Ha! You try shovellin' out a town with a shovel barely bigger'n my hoof."
That shovel is definitely bigger than that. You just want attention.
"Nuh uh!"
...
Anyways, it could be worse. There's the piece of Disgaea fanfiction I might write in the future where the main character takes the position of writer by force.
... Berry. Stop taking notes.

Re: [FiM] My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic RP Recruitment Thread
Its alright. I'll wait and see what they do, because I actually wanted to try and help with the animals and stuff. Plus, I was enjoying the character interaction between Snickers, Silvermane, and Whitefire. He's already spent awhile with most of the ponies in town.

Yeah, Tonberrian mentioned a potential plot point about a giant semi-living berry or something. Sounds interesting, but I dunno if we're still doing it or not. Perhaps it could be lurking at a different section of the lakeside we're heading to?

Re: [FiM] My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic RP Recruitment Thread
Yeah, but the thing is, Silvermane would try to cover the entire area affected by the snow. And if she succeeds, then that ruins the plot, as she'd either discover the thingy (I'm calling it a thingy now), or the thingy would have no cause to be in danger in any case (well, no snow-related danger).
EDIT: She was thinking of maybe starting it tomorrow morning, perhaps we just finish up shoveling, then everypony accompanies Silvermane et Co. to the lakeside to finish up with the animals, and discover the thingy?

Re: [FiM] My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic RP Recruitment Thread
How 'bout this...
The fire didn't melt all the snow, just the snow near the main road, right? So the melted water wouldn't be flooding the entire lakeside area, just the parts closest to the main town. There'd still be plenty of shore line, most of which would be snowy. So we might not actually be near the part of the lakeside area where the Thingy is.
OR, perhaps the lakeside area is foggy now from all the topsy-turvey weather, and once we get done with the animals and/or Berry Ann joins us, we discover the Thingy.
How 'bout them apples?
