Why "Kneenibble"?

Why did you pick what you did for your avatar?

Is there anything about you that you think people should know that they won't get from just reading your posts?
If so, what is it?

Thanks for having me.

Reinholdt's Riveting and Rhetorical Questions:

What question would you like to be asked?
Actually sir, I'm very pleased that you have chosen to use the questions Bernard Pivot started and James Lipton popularized (but alas the board rules proscribe the juicier ones). I'm an immense fan of him and his show.
& "red or red?"

What traits do you look for in an ideal pet?
Colourful feathers, likes people, vigorous, and cuddly.

What is the square root of Pi?
I have a book called The Giza Death Star which will tell you that it's the secret code in the Great Pyramids' design and that if they weren't missing some component pieces they would be EVIL WEAPONS.

What's your favorite OOTS strip?
There was one with a gay police man that cracked me up. I forget the context though.

What's your favorite Erfworld strip?
That one where Wanda steps it up.

How does your ITP persona relate to you in real life?
The interplay between actor and Internet-character and the way they inform each other is fascinating: from the people who have a fairly vanilla masque to the people like Trog who adapt a whole other character, everybody is performing their self based on desires and self-perceptions. And the receptions and experiences the actor has, depending on how much time they spend in character, will inform the roles they play in 3D life.

I am a loud dresser, a goof, and a bon vivant in 3D, but Kneenibble is a little closer to one of these larger-than-life drag queens you can meet in a club on Thursdays. Like my gay shadow.

Sadistic choice time! You must choose to save either the life of your most loved one or the lives of a large group of strangers. Which do you choose?
NONE OF THEM! CLUB THEM ALL AND EAT THEIR BONES

What is your favorite word?
In Latin: numen
In English: It's always changing. I'm fairly fascinated by the morphology of the 10 numbers right now: thirty, forty, fifty, &c.

What is your least favorite word?
Any time a curse word is used inelegantly, I shrivel inside.

What makes you enthusiastic?
Free and joyful creativity.

What disappoints you?
Apathy.

What sound do you love?
When you water a houseplant and you can hear it trickling through the soil.

What sound do you hate?
Loud subwoofers, especially in a car outside or another house and I can't actually hear the music. Drives me bloody nuts.

What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
A soldier. I respect the training and values of the military very much.

What profession would you not like to participate in?
Besides the obvious ones like "toilet cleaner" or "dirty hooker," I would hate to be an IT person or work with programming. It strikes me as the dullest work imaginable.

Serpentine
Have you ever travelled overseas?
Oui madame, I've been to India, Sri Lanka, and very briefly to Germany.

If so, what event really drove it home that you weren't in your own country anymore?
It was the first time I walked out of the fancy ex-pat apartment building in Chennai to buy a coconut the morning after I had arrived. The sounds, the smells, and the colours were starkly un-known. It was the coconut lady herself, though, yakking in Tamil as she hacked up the coconut with a black iron machete as motorbikes and yellow tuk-tuks sped by.

What place/s do you most and least want to visit?
I dearly want to go to England because I feel very connected to my English heritage and wish to visit family I still have there and see all the places in my grandmother's stories about my grandfather who was an RAF pilot who died long before I was born.

I really don't want ever to go to the States. No offense to Americans.

What have you recently discovered or worked out about yourself?
A few months ago I moved from a job that I disliked to a job that I love beyond words to tell, and I realized that I had used my discontent as an excuse to drink, wallow and squander my abilities and pursuits with idleness. I've been pushing myself to self-improvement and an inner renaissance.

In what ways have you changed since you were half your current age?
Since 13? Mainly I'm a lot uglier and hairier.
heh. 13 was right around the time the cluster**** of gay self-realization and the awful slurry of social expectations and mendacity all began. I'm happy to say I'm mostly through all that.

In what ways have you stayed the same?
Still a skinny nerd!

Thufir
What is one great thing about living in Canada?
The low population density and the resultant vast swathes of nature and lakes to explore!

If I came over to Canada, would you show me around, take me out somewhere nice?
Oui monsieur, d'accord; in my native city (whose charms for visitors are limited I'm afraid), then to nearby lakes of unsurpassed fineness and beauty where I would struggle not to attempt to persuade you to skinny-dip; and then a tour of all the grand railway hotels across the country.

I can't recall if I've ever known, why is your standard avatar a budgie?
My first avatar was the fellow in the suit with a large budgie on his arm made by the delicious Dr. Bath, and then the sexbot-currently-known-as-Lyesmith made a remark about a nightmare involving a giant budgie in drag. So I made it. Budgies also happen to be my favourite kind of creature on this earth.

gw's Questions of Questionable Intent
1. Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? If so, who?
As a child I had a crush on the Ninja Turtles. As an adult I have a crush on Dorian Gray.

2. What is one thing about yourself you're the most proud of?
My scholarly achievements. I loved University and what it did to me.

3. Roses or orchids?
Orchids? Nasty things! Their flesh is too much like the flesh of men, and their perfume has the rotten sweetness of corruption.

4. What sustains you, keeps you going every day?
The karma cycle of work and pleasure.

5. How did you get to be so awesome?
BY EATING AWESOME PEOPLE!

6. Where were you ten years ago, and what do you know now that you wish you knew back then?
Ten years ago I was finishing grade 11. I wish I'd known how important it is to try and to care, and not to pretend.

7. If the human race vanished tomorrow, leaving only you and one other person to keep you company, who would you want that person to be?
Justin Bieber.
Whoops... I mean Daniel Radcliffe.
Whoops... I mean...

8. Who is one person who died before you were born that you'd most like to speak with?
My grandfather.
That or Oscar Wilde.

9. When your life comes to an end, how do you want to be remembered/what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope to die wealthy and classy, having spent my life enriching the arts with generous donations and patronage.

10. Ga! These questions have taken a turn for the depressing! Quick, what is your favorite lolcat!? (Bonus cookies for posting a pic.)
Spoiler

11. What super-power would you want to use to stop Godzilla if he was attacking where you live?
Unique Sex Combat

12. Beards or babies?
That's a tough one... both make good eating... hmm.

13. Have you ever made up a word? If so, what is that word and what is its definition?
I occasionally import Latin words into English according to the established precedents, but I can't think of an example just at the moment as I'm still shrugging off a red wine hangover.

14. Define the following word: whiloplenulent?
You do your own dirty work, mister. I can smell where that word's been.

15. What's an old-fashioned song or short schmaltzy bit of poetry that's stuck in your head?
I am frequently haunted by Herman Hupfeld's As Time Goes By, Vera Lynn's We'll Meet Again, and Marlene Dietrich's Falling in Love Again. One will get in my head for days only to be replaced by another.

16. Favorite mythological monster?
Rakshasas!

17. Enough of this! I am your arch-nemesis! Where will we fight our final, climactic battle?
In a big hotel bed.

18. In #17, above, did you defeat me? If so, how?
I would hope we'd both win.

19. Do you prefer the silly questions or the serious ones?
Both are necessary! I like the open-ended questions that force me to think.

20. Why did you decide to submit yourself to these torturous, probing questions?
FOR GLORY!!!

Savannah
Why "Kneenibble"?
Because they are delicious and get so little erogenous attention.

Why did you pick what you did for your avatar?
I saw someone else with an avatar by Sampi; it was cool. Then I found this in the adoption centre and thought it was cute.

Is there anything about you that you think people should know that they won't get from just reading your posts? If so, what is it?
Yeah, that I'm a sweet caring guy in spite of my bitchtastic posts.

So what sort of music do you listen to, anyhow? Gimme details, bro!

Last night I started at a piano concert of a gentleman who played Bach, Beethoven, Albinoni, Liszt, Chopin, and his own work: then I went to a pub to see a rock-funk band play. If it were possible I would have wound up at a goa trance party, but those don't happen around here. That delineates my musical tastes pretty well.

To be honest, though, I don't listen to recorded music at home very much.

(edit: was that enough details? you are a particularly musical individual)

Favorite philosopher?
I find Žižek fascinating.
Osho is a wild ride.

Favorite philosophy?
The philosophies of the Hindu scriptures have shaped a lot of who I am. But for more contemporary philosophies I dig semiotics and posstructuralism.

How’s life at the moment?
Super, thanks for asking!
Everything is proceeding as it ought to.
How are you?

Favorite color?
Oh, how can I choose? They're all fabulous.

Favorite fruit?
Pomegranates are the greatest.

Favorite ice cream?
A light, refreshing lemon gelato.
Regular ice cream is too cloying and heavy for me.

What is your theme song?
Killer Queen!

What is your alignment?
Not horizontal nearly as often as I'd like.

What is your Magic: The Gathering color?
When I played -- which was some twelve, thirteen years ago; I stopped after Alliances came out -- I played black most frequently.
If I were a card, I'd be a red/green combo.

What is the meaning of life?
To get closer to the divine.

What are your thoughts on:

Love?
Friendship?
Freedom?

These are the symptoms of a well-developed humanity in a person.

What is the color of your aura?
What do you think, sir? I'm not sure this is the kind of thing that should be self-determined.

What does your essence taste like?
Depends on how much pineapple I ate the day before.

What’s your elemental affinity?
Bismuth really speaks to me.
Spoiler

Isn't it awesome?

Who would you ask to the next Playground Prom, if we had one?
Ah, I'm too old for proms. I'd tend bar and seduce some dude in need of a little life experience once he got tipsy.

Are you part of any other online communities?
I used to be really involved at deviantart, but it stopped being useful to me.
I used to make Youtube videos, but they're all gone now.
I'm involved with some communities through work, but I'd rather not get into that.

What fictional character do you most identify with?
Dorian Gray resonates with me very much. He's also my fictional crush. Stupid reality barriers.

Socks: Yes or no?
Merino wool, clashing with the outfit, while lounging about in loafers or juttis? Absolutely yes.

While prancing through dewy grass some morning in July, or running across fine white Grand Beach sand naked after midnight? Absolutely not.

What’s your pony name?
I don't have a pony.

Do you know any Playgrounders in real life?
Alas no.

What is the highest compliment you have ever received?
Someone recently called me an anachronism.

What is the highest compliment you can imagine receiving?
Her voice was ever soft,
Gentle and low, an excellent thing in woman.

What do you think of me?
I like you; you have a good heart; my thoughts of you are expressed in the avatar I made you.
I doubt we'd get along so well in person: you seem uptight. But that does not preclude my liking you.

Is there anything that you would like to say to me personally?
No, sweety, you just keep doing your thing.

wxdruid
What color(s) do you prefer to wear?
ALL OF THEM!!!

What do you like to collect?
Teapots and teacups and jewels.

How many avatars do you have?
Six! Three from the divine Dr. Bath; this one from Sampi; and two I made myself.

Are you coming to GenCon11?
That's not really my scene.

What type of chocolate do you prefer?
Dark chocolate with fleur-de-sel crystals is really nice. Or flavoured with chilies.

What type and how many pets do you have?
My pets are thirteen plants. My schedule is too erratic to look after a creature properly: I would get a cuddly lovebird or a budgie otherwise.

Do you enjoy watching the Weather Channel?
They still have that?

Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you be?
I would have a mountainside estate in Kashmir far from anyone, accessible only by helicopter.

Ok, now REALISTICALLY, where would you be?
Heh.
It's tough because I don't want to move far away from my family, but I'm not a huge fan of this city either. I'd really like to live in Montreal some day.

Does the room you're sitting in have a window? If so, describe the window in detail.
Yes sir; it is a French door leading to an enclosed patio; it is currently occluded by maroon curtains embroidered with vines and flowers, but the porch overlooks my very measly front yard with its rose bush and its cedar and the shabby street beyond.

Thufir
I thought you liked male flesh and corruption?
Touché, mon ami.

Moff Chumley

I dig post-rock pretty heavily, fella. My problem is that I always rely upon others to play music for me, rather than listening to it at home: I have trouble branching out and I don't have the energy it takes to smelt the ore of options and separate the gold from the slag. I also don't own an mp3 player or iPod to really store and listen to music efficiently. Can you recommend stuff along the lines of Godspeed for me? Only the best. & yeah that song you posted was fabulous.

When the revolution comes, who's first against the wall?
When I am King, you will be first against the wall
With your opinion which is of no consequence

Give me a paragraph on the topic of dubstep.
Dubstep subverts classical rhythmic structure with asymmetry, syncopation, and very Beethoven-esque layers of triplets/quintuplets laid upon your doublets and quartets. Its complexity relies upon computerized loops and automation, but the soundscapes it synthesizes are like the shadowy underground moon-realm described in the Vedas where pious atheists are reborn as serpents with glowing jewels in their foreheads. I haven't been exposed to a great deal of dubstep, but what I have heard is marvelous and strikes me as something I'd like to hear at a Fremen sietch orgy where consciousness expands and bodily barriers dissolve in pleasure and thrashing communion.

Best concert you've been to?
I saw a show in an old cathedral with the pipe organ accompanied by a grand piano. It shook me to my very soul.

La Roux or Gaga?
I'm by no means a Gaga-hater, but all the same, La Roux -- without a gossamer shred of a doubt.

mangosta
Do you, in fact, have any cheese here at all?
What a senseless waste of human life.

Will you go quietly when they come for you?
There is no sound. I hear nothing. Why does he not cry out, this man? Ah! if any man sought to kill me, I would cry out, I would struggle, I would not suffer . . . . Strike, strike, Naaman, strike, I tell you. . . . No, I hear nothing. There is a silence, a terrible silence. Ah! something has fallen upon the ground. I heard something fall. It was the sword of the executioner. He is afraid, this slave. He has dropped his sword. He dares not kill him. He is a coward, this slave! Let soldiers be sent.

What is your anti-zombie weapon of choice?
Plot.

Are you running to something, or from something?
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

What's the magic word?
Now.

gw's Questions of Duplicitous Intent
1. Do you hold grudges? If so, for how long?
It takes a -lot- to make me hold a grudge: I can think of only a couple or three. But they last forever until my enemy is destroyed.

2. What's your favorite band/musician?
Well that's always changing... except my fixed soul-deep affinity for Bach. Soli Deo Gloria.

3. Do you like juice? If so, what is your favorite kind of juice. If not, what would you rather drink?
Sure I love juice! But it has to be rotten grape juice.

4. Which do you prefer, wool or cotton?
For coats, for trousers, what but finest wool?
For socks or sweaters, either fibre works.
Chemise? caleçon? sans coton, you're a fool.
But more than any other, give me silks.

5. Have you ever owned a slinky?
My parents only ever bought me Log, alas.

6. If you could take on the mantle of an established comic-book character, which one would you choose? That is, if you could become Batman, Superman, Mysterio, Magneto, Nite Owl, etc., which would you want to become?
You know what would be perfect? If you turned me into Archie so I could invite Reggie, Jughead, and Dilton over after school for anatomy homework.

7. Which is your favorite meal of the day?
Is wine a meal?

8. Do you eat a lot of snacks?
Is tea a snack?

9. What is your favorite restaurant?
It's a place just outside the city called Rembrandt's. It's owned by a Dutch man who also imports European antiques. Very posh, and I've had lots of good memories there.

10. Who was the most recent person you talked to in person?
My cigar; I feel so cheap if we don't talk a little before getting down to business.

11. What was the last thing you said to that person?
"Goodnight Karen!"

12. Which of the following two words do you think makes a sentence creepier when added to the end: 'ladies' or 'hard'?
Hahahaha. Go Demetri Martin.

13. What do you think of when you read the word 'fishmember?'
How glad I am to be gay.

14. Do you like haiku?
Haiku in English is a horribly misappropriated poetic form. People write 5/7/5 and "it's a haiku lol!" They'd write a Petrarchan sonnet in Japanese and only care that it rhymes correctly.

15. If you had a choice between zombies or aliens destroying humanity, which would you choose?
ZOMBIE ALIENS!!!

16. Sufficiently advanced aliens visit earth and say they'll change just one thing about you. It can be anything at all. What would you choose?
To be frank, I wouldn't trust aliens who offer something like that. It smacks of Faust. I would ask them all to have no-gravitons-attached frenzied xenophiliac relations with me and then take off.

17. Do you think aliens from another planet ever actually visit Earth?
That depends, are you writing these questions from your spaceship?

18. Do you prefer to control a project from beginning to end, always repair the same flaw in someone else's project, choose to leave well enough alone, or some other mode of creation I haven't figured out here?
I greatly prefer to control a project in its entirety, excluding the editing process at its end. It's important to be edited, but my process is my own.

19. You could build your dream house within five miles of your current home. What goes into it?
I shall not build, sir. Give me instead one of these gorgeous old turn-of-the-(20th)-century brick mansions with architectural features laid on like icing on a cake, with parquade floors and massive staircases and marble and panelling and plaster and moulding and chandeliers and stained glass.

It's been beautifully kept up, all the original woodwork, the electricity and plumbing added in as non-invasively as possible; the foundation is sound, the roof is sound. It is landscaped and overlooks the river. Inside are reams of Oriental rugs; the furniture is a crazy mix of antiques; there are way too many books; there is a lush tropical greenhouse; there are several guest rooms; there are lovebirds and budgies; there is a caramel-coloured houseboy from the 3rd world.

20. I give you a seed; you water it with your favorite bit of poetry. What sprouts from it?
a tree where the doves go to die

golentan
Gag, of course this happens when I'm out of contact.

Short ones then.
That's, uh... I really don't... it's not my custom.

Why? (at least 2 full sentences. No why not?)
Is this how you'll be on our date? You set the terms, lie back, and make me do all the work? Maybe I should change my answer below.

Celebrity crush?
I want to be the filling in a sandwich of Jon Snow and Viserys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. I don't know their real names. IT DOESN'T MATTER.

Will you go on a date with me?
Yes.
What shall we do, where shall we go?

Favorite food you haven't eaten in at least 2 weeks?
I haven't had moong dal with chapatis in far, far, far too long. Gah! I'm going to get the makings tomorrow, thank you!

C-Lam
How did you find GiantITP?
In India, actually. I spent large parts of my Sundays off from teaching in a little Internet cafe overlooked by Ganesha. It was a result of random browsing, but I actually joined the forums after lurking in the LGBT thread for a few months.

Do you have any words of wisdom that you can share with the rest of us?
"Too much is not enough"

Favorite movie of all time?
Hmm, it's so hard to narrow down a single favourite, don't you agree? It would probably come down to a tie between a Coen brothers film and a Humphrey Bogart detective film. Maltese Falcon vs. Fargo or something like that. Coen brothers are my favourite directors.

The Rose Dragon
If I promise you my heart (the organ, that is, rather than any abstract emotion), what would you give me in turn?
I never pay for damaged goods.

Do you feel pretty? Oh so pretty? Do you feel pretty and witty and gay? And do you pity any girl who is not you today?
THAT IS OUR WORD.

If you had to choose between perfect happiness and perfect pleasure, both lacking the other, what would you choose?
Perfect happiness is perfect pleasure, poofypants.

Why is the crossbow named Bianca?
A very brief chat with Google has informed me: because Mirabelle was taken. Well well well. I've broken your little code. How do you feel? Is your heart pounding? Are you... upset? Well now you know how it feels when you eat my lipstick.

Excellent. Attention: my people's only food. Not full yet!

Blue Ghost
What's your favorite greeting?
I like to sing people's names enthusiastically when I greet them. Like ♪Blueghoooost!♪ The effect it has on their mood is visible and immediate.

Your favorite way to say goodbye?
I usually say "good day to you" or "good evening to you" possibly with a madame/monsieur/good lady/good sir at the end.

but let's not talk of love or chains and things we can't untie,
your eyes are soft with sorrow,
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye.

Is my list of questions too long?
No, I enjoyed your questions: and I enjoyed subverting a couple.

Savannah
Why'd you get called an anachronism recently?
My boss did it: we were talking about fashion, and she said my wardrobe is timeless; and we got on to how I talk and how I eat cloves and stuff. Then she said that she had recently described me to someone as an anachronism. I was flattered.

Reinholdt
Do you like writing long posts or do you prefer short?
See it's funny, I write three or five sentences in an SMBG and somebody will post after me LOLOL CUTE BUT VERBOSE

And I'm like thanks for playing kid. You find that fun, do you?

Gadora
What's your favorite genre of your favorite form of media?
My skull just exploded from the sudden pressure difference of pondering the wide-open possibilities in this question.

To answer this I thought to myself, what sense is most important to me for receiving beauty? - Hearing. Okay, music. & then definitely baroque music, of all possible genres of all possible media.

Closely followed by that might be the novel. Or is that a medium by now not a genre?

What do you think of abstract art?
Can we call it non-representational art instead?

I'm very fond of non-representational art. The language of creative gestures that open up without bondage to representation is both freeing and limiting, and I love to see how artists navigate that territory.

I mean sure, sometimes it's bunk, but I think the pretentiousness associated with it comes from a confrontation of expectations and experience on the part of the audience: not the artist's gestures themselves. Non-representational art is meant to be a pure sensual experience untied from meaning-making, and then when the agitatable viewer can't make meaning of it they blame the artist and call him a fraud. Poo.

What was the last book you read? Was it any good?
I thought I'd give the post-Frank Dune prequels a chance, since I'm an immense Frank Herbert fan and love his universe. I went with the Butlerian Jihad. I'm afraid to say that... no... no it wasn't...

I've been reading every answer posted.
With most people, me too. It's interesting eh?

Archonic Energy

No offense, sweetheart -- far be it from me, a lowly marine, to stand up to a Dark Archon -- but some of your questions I have no idea what they mean and some of them are tedious so I'm skipping a bunch. Don't be maaad, & I'll help you reclaim Aiur?

Mac or PC?
I've always used PCs but I recently got a Mac to use at work and I LOVE IT. OMG. I haven't had a chance to use it for games so I don't know how it measures up in that department, but the layout is superior for work and multi-tasking. Does this answer please you?

what OS do you use on your primary "computer"
Windows Vista, and I don't understand the flak it takes. Can someone explain why so many complain about it? It has treated me consistently well.

favorite season?
The end of summer just as autumn starts in. The warm days with the cool nights, all the plants and trees at their peak of growth before settling down, vegetables coming in, the days just starting to shorten and that very unique quality of light that comes in the evenings and an overwhelming sense of peace and calm... It is the most beautiful time of year.

What can change the nature of a man?
Short version: anything can, given sufficient intensity or duration.
This is the long version.

Death or Cake?
You know, I've never flown Church of England...

if you had super powers would you be a hero or villain?
That would depend on who you ask: one man's hero is another's villain.

what super power would you like?
Crazy bendy blinding martial arts powers! Can go flippity-floppity and kick a cigarette out of a man's mouth with my baby toe from twenty paces!

what would your super alias be called?
The same as my drag name: Fairy Fagdalene.

Life has given you lemons, what is your reaction?
As I am often quite bitter, a violent neutralization.
Ba-dum, Ch.
That old phrase is silly because as if lemons are a bad thing? I celebrate! Free lemons!

or ?
Can't it be both, making out and groping feverishly?

Dallas-Dakota
Why haven't you answered my PM yet?
It's been a busy week, sweetheart ( - and these answers take a while!). Sorry. I'll answer when I'm done this post, and how can I make it up to you?

Or am I expecting too much lurking of you, here?
I only lurk in clubs, that dude smoking a cigarette in the corner with a hat and a shadow across his face. But you can feel his eyes.

The Rose Dragon
How is gay your word, considering it existed before you were even born? Or were you not using the royal we there?
The bow is bent and drawn; make from the shaft.

Chain
Do you believe in love at first sight?
I believe in overwhelming lust at first sight, but I think that true love has to develop over time. Love is not only an idea or a feeling: it is a practice, an act, as well.

Do you believe in soul mates?
I used to...

Do you believe in true love?
Yes I do, both within and without a romantic context.

Have you experienced any of the above?
Hey listen lady, if the history of my love life were a garden, it would be all rank fumiter and furrow-weeds, with burdocks, hemlock, nettles, cuckoo-flowers, darnel, and all the idle weeds that grow in our sustaining corn. Not empty: just ugly and without fruit.

What does the song hope for?

Clovis or Reginald?

What is your favorite fragrance (to wear yourself, or to smell on another person's skin)?

Who is your favorite Charles Dickens character?

Did you ever find a yixing teapot?
