Generations have passed since you first landed on planet Agaman, and your species shows it well. No longer are you the shapeless grey blob that barely managed to drag itself out of a crash landed canister all those years ago. Your species has evolved to sport a thick exoskeleton and a thick membrane beneath it, making your defenses a force to be reckoned with, but even worse is your weaponry. A large horn and tusks are mounted on your frontal exoskeleton. A set of large flaps opens up on the side of your exoskeleton, leading to a set of rigid tubes running down the length of your body. With these, you can propel yourself at breakneck speeds, turning your three facial weapons, into a vicious battering ram. Small tentacles, covered in tiny hairs called Cilia dangle out from your underside. Wiggling these, you can move at fast speeds with direction, allowing yourself to turn at ease. Altogether, you have turned into a lightweight siege engine, one of the best weapons evolution has to offer to this date.
The once small community burrow that you started years ago has grown to a large multi-roomed colony that has nearly quadrupled in size. This space has accommodated for the rapid growth in your species's population, as it has created more housing for a needy species. On the surface, the sandy mound that beaconed your entrance has grown by similar proportions, to the point that an entire section of the Creeper forest has been wholesomely consumed by your growing colony. This growth is not only due to your creature, as reports from the surface tell you that the blue light in the sky has grown brighter, and now even the Creepers are beginning to shrivel. And thus, your food source is dwindling on the surface, which, outside of the creeper forest, is a dangerous place for your species to venture.
The Naargal has changed drastically. As the Alpha of the species once belonged to such a species, genetic competition has forced the forest stalkers to extinction, and replaced your kind with a Naargal that reminds you of the what the Translucoids once were. A translucent shell that glows a vibrant purple when you are angered or need a source of light, accompanied by clear crystal horns that flush with a similar glow. A pair of black eyes on either side of your horn, slightly below it, show you the well developed image of the world around you, making your charging marksmanship accurate.
Danger invades from within your tunnels themselves, as new creatures have shown themselves. Very small pink creatures swarm around the roots of the Creepers. They are starfish-like in the fact that their pentagonal placement limbs and sticky glue at their base makes them fasten to surfaces. Large buds grow in the center of the creatures, until they burst at maturity, releasing hundreds of these creatures into the water. They mature quickly, and can smother entire rooms and Naargals within seconds. You are swiftly losing territory to these creatures, but the sounds of large dangerous creatures above creates a very dangerous aura around your burrow. And so, evolution tests you again, but can you survive this one?
You begin in your main chamber, waking after a long sleep to recover from a rapid splurge of mitosis. A dim purple glow radiates from the growing Naargal around you, shedding light into three passages. One leads slightly downward to your left, another slightly upward in front of you, and the third passage is the long tunnel leading up to the surface. Brown roots dangle down from the ceiling, causing your stomach to growl in hunger. A new day has risen on planet Agaman, and you are fairly hungry. You're not sure where to go from here, but perhaps eating would be a good start.
With the surface I meant the bottom of the pool/water mass. For some reason the Nargaal have started burrowing deep instead of staying on the surface making burrows under creepers.
If the starfish things don't kill the creepers, I don't see a problem, otherwise we need to find a aoe attack.
Yeah we should be able to have lungs and gills, but we haven't found any creature who uses lungs yet.

Well SwiftMongoose, I believe I can answer that question. Real life grabbed me in it's greasy palm and shoved me into it's gaping maw. Complications with differing internet connection, the first week of highschool, and long summer break trips out of the country, I'm afraid I've had little time for the playground.
But now that's over. Let us resume.
Hungrily, you feed on the roots crawling down upon your cavern. THe tasty purple liquid drips down onto you, creating a small pool of delectable juices on the stone beneath you. Once you've adapted a dark purple color as your stomach gets to work, You jet back down and land just above the pool of Creeper goo.
Smaller members of the Naargal swim up to the pool you create and also begin to eat, consuming the goo which is much more difficult for them to extract from the roots than to simply swim up to. You watch, angrily, as they slowly adapt a dark purple shade of their translucent membrane. Suddenly a faint whistling sound begins to grow in a nearby cavern, sparking your inner curious nature and beaconing you to it.
You begin to swim to it, but then you are reminded of your place among the Naargal. You release a sound of command through your gills and three small Naargal swim up to you. Swimming forward into the side cavern, the Naargal follow. As you swim into it, the whistling sound gets larger, and then you find the source. Minuscule pink echinoderms are plastered onto the wall, their inner bodies bobbing in and out, as if consuming the very rock itself. As the current caused by you and your companions reaches them. A set of five small pink hairs spring out of the center of the creatures, as if suddenly startled.

In a hasty retreat, you call out to your allies as the small pink echinoderms begin to whistle louder. You reverse your jets and launch yourself up the tunnel. Demonstrating for your comrades, you Whip around and jet straight into the sandstone wall next to you, causing a rain of small stones to dislodge themselves from the ceiling.
As the cavern begins to fill with ceiling stones, your comrades begin as well. Ramming their horn and tusks into the sides of the cavern. A barrage of stones rain down from the ceiling, and each of you flee from the collapsing cavern as swiftly as possible. A loud rumble fills the water around you, shaking the very walls themselves. Soon you find yourself beside your comrades, a wall of brown stones blocking you off to the pink creatures.
You suddenly notice the stones in the wall beginning to crumble and fall. A loud bang of millions of spores being released fill the water, creating a current that pushes on the loosely packed stone wall. You notice the cavern itself shaking, as the many rocks of the collapsed cavern begin to break apart, reducing your sandstone wall into a coating of sand on the floor of your cavern.
Seconded. Hopefully the cavern will collapse right on the enemy.

Since it seems that these two are all I'm going to get, here it is.
As the great stone wall begins to crumble under the pressure of hundreds of tiny spores fluttering around in the water behind it, you are struck with fear. Despite your show of great strength, collapsing the cavern where they advanced, it seems that sheer numbers are overcoming your effort that would stop most creatures from moving on.
In a state of panic, you release a high pitched sound through the water, attempting to tell your comrades to flee the oncoming wave of creatures. Seimultaniously reversing your jets and whipping around with your Cilia, you and oyour comrades rocket out of the small cavern, the high pitched shreik growing larger.
You find yourself in your large home, surrounded by the younglings of your species. Releasing a command to them as well, those who are capable of swimming follow you upwards, out of the cavern that your species called home for many years. The light of the glowing creeper root is slowly replaced by a blinding blue light, as you ascend toward the surface. All the while, the small echinoderms rapidly replicate themselves, filling your home with their spores.
You finally breach the surface. A cloud of brown dust fills the red water around you, Behind you follows two fully grown Naargall, as well as one youngling, with jets barely capable of supporting his weight. Shock grips your inner nucleus as you realize that the many Naargal that followed you did not survive.
Suddenly, a cloud of brown dust forms in the enterance, as a small young Naargal makes it's way out of the cavern. Behind it, the shriek grows loud, and following the young Naargall is a cloud of pink spores. In fear, you and the few remaining Naargal flee from the spewing cavern, but the young Naargal is too slow, and several pink spores take root in it's backside. Immediately, they grow, clogging the waterways and the jets, and draining it of the cytoplasm within. Without a chance to save your cavern, where will you go now?
Jet to safe distance from the cavern, inspect the other Nargall to make sure none of them have parasites rooted on them (drive them off if this is the case,) and then lead the whole group upslope from the old den, foraging as we go.
We know the creeper forest is dangerous. We know the caverns are a deathtrap. Only place left to go is up.
