A hive mind might be better, that way exploding won't kill us outright.

Simply put if we go protomind we will have to evolve a form of protection to prevent explosions after one hit. the exoskeleton already helps, and only if the bladder gets ruptured will the aforementioned explosion happen. So a sturdy bladder-sack might be best. something that doesn't just rupture when hit. A way to lose the flammable H in an effective way is also needed: hence spitting out slime filled H as a weapon.
If we go hivemind the imperative to have this sturdy H-bladder isn't there so much. and we can use swarm tactics a lot more effectively. and the added bonus of numbers so losing part of the Borganism doesn't hurt that much.
I think at this time it is more a personal taste than a one is clearly better than the other.
I would vote for hivemind simply because it is something that hasn't been done yet and is it just me or are we creating offspring of cuthulu? we just need to lose the tusks XD

Just as you prepare to venture forward and explore the distant beach, you feel a sudden wave of change as your evolutionary juices make another. After a brief wave of nausea, you feel that you have gained the ability to suddenly contract your Hydrogen filled lungs and mix them with slime, allowing you to spit highly volatile liquids onto your enemies from afar. Although you don't usually evolve when awake, you feel well enough to proceed across the Crept fronds and toward the brown beach on the horizon.
Using your tentacles and Jets, you find that you can traverse large distances such as this not by flying, as you don't have wings, but by a kind of jumping. Using your jets the Naargal can propel themselves off the ground, then slowly descend utilizing your hydrogen bladders. With barely any energy, you feel the large brown grains of sand beneath your tentacles, and notice that they are sticky and tend to grip onto your tentacles, like a kind of suck-mud.
Beyond the small grove of Crepts, and past a long slope of sticky brown mud, you have found yourself in a kind of forest like the Creeper forest you landed in. The crepts clawed themselves on to the land and become wider and more sturdy, forming a loose green canopy above. Below the crepts is a brown mud that has been sapped of nutrients, leaving behind thick brown mud in some places, and shallow pools of stinking red water in others. Beyond the underwater crept forest in which you live is an above water swamp, ideal for amphibious creatures to live in.
A member of your pack releases a quick, high pitched shriek as they notice a creature emerge from a nearby pool , surrounded by small, underdeveloped Crepts. You catch a small glimpse of it, and it appears to be a kind of amorphous black goo, before the startled creature suddenly launches into the canopy above and flees, grasping frond after frond and moving away. Something in your racial memory is triggered reminding you of dark, slightly bioluminescent creatures known as the Grinx that were encountered in the Creeper forest long before you ever found the Solarian.
Without venturing too far into the swamp, you have already found what could be the descendant of a creature that left the water before you did, in a world above your watery home.
It is time to hunt! Lets test that volatile slime!
I just had a nice idea if we go to a partial or complete hive mind we could become something akin to a worm that walks. forming one giant monster... ok why does that feel like an overused power ranger strategy?
Hivemind has become interesting, but I still like independent thinkers more...You've made me slightly curious as to if we can have both simultaneously. Also worm doesn't seem like a bad idea, but I'd think since we're kind of combustible currently we should use standard flanking or surrounding tactics. That way we don't kill off ourselves with a chain reaction.
It has come to my attention that there was a new creature mentioned. I'm think they swing kind of like and ape or monkey and they are descended from Grinx. Name them the Grinkey, or maybe the Grape...I kind of like Grape now.
Agreed. And we should probably find a way of expanding the hive mind so we don't have to be within chain reaction distance. Is there any way we can do that?

The presence of the new air breathing creature that you've decided to call a Grape tricks your primal hunting instinct. With a short command to your small pack of Naargal you bound off into the swampland, giving chase to the Grape. It's movement is quick and agile, but as you begin to catch up to the creature, you begin to blast your Jets, powering yourself toward the Grape at incredible speeds. Between grasps of fronds and branches, your horn and tusks dig into the soft black body of the Grape, which is quickly killed when you land on the soft sticky mud once again.
The creature, although slightly amorphous in shape, is clearly a close relative of the Grinx you encountered in the Creeper forest. It begins to leak a familiar black goo onto the mud, and quickly you and your pack hungrily consume the creature. Then, a sudden rustling in the branches above tells you of the presence of another Grape.
Almost instinctually, thick hydrogen infused goo launches out of your mouth and into the branches. Several seconds pass, then with a squish a small Grape lands in the mud beneath the now slightly spit covered crept. The Grape's body releases a strange scent of burning flesh, and begins to release wisps of smoke into the air, then suddenly, as your pack sits and watches, the Grape bursts into bright orange flame. The Grape screams in pain as it's membrane boils away under the flame.
Your victory over the Grape is short lived, however, as you soon realize that the combustible spit of yours has ignited the upper branches of the Crept the Grape was seen in. Flames begin to spread from Crept to Crept, and you hear the shrieking sounds of fleeing Grapes as the air around you fills with heavy smoke. A strong sense of fear tells you to flee the flames into the water, and two Naargal turn around immediately and leap towards your nest.
HAHAHAHHAHA awesome!
And on a second note... we need better minds to facilitate this power better XD.
Dive and escape the flames when it is safe resurface to search for food, if that takes 2 long hunt some more underwater and get more DNA points
Douhugal seconded
Seems a proper plan to escape the fire. We should try not to burn down our surroundings...unless of course we're surrounded by enemies in which case burn everything.

This is the thief who likes to hoard,
That loves the bard with the puppet Lord

That has the gender unexplored

That slew a mountain of the goblin horde,
That follows the cleric,
That serves the lich,

To Troodon: We are currently playing a game in which we have a voting on what action a creature were controlling to evolve, fight, move, and flee stuff.
You have to Bold your votes so the GM can tell what you want.
And right now were above ground on the shores of our birth place the ocean. And are fleeing a chemical fire we caused. I'd recommend reading the earlier posts while waiting for the Game Master to update the next part.

As orange flames consume the forest around you, the shrill shrieks of creatures echo over the loud crackle of the flames. This phenomenon is new to you, as beneath the red seas of Agaman, an ignition source would never create such damage. As each and every one of your Naargal flee into the waves, one thing runs through your primitive mind.
Run
You can feel the immense heat of the flames reacting with your hydrogen infused system just as you plunge beneath the waves, drastically jetting toward the underground nest your species calls home. The Solarian glows with shades of red and orange, and all your kind can do is cower in your watery home, feeling the heat of the flame slowly boil the seas around you. How could you have caused all this?
Within your nest you notice a state of fear running through the Naargal. All creatures that would be normally working to expand and dig in the nest are now cowering in it's outlying passages, fearing the unnatural phenomenon occurring in the strange world above. Far into the night, the light of the flames filter through your hole to the surface, until you fall asleep, accompanied by a pair of small cowering Aquapede.
You wake to find an unnatural darkness cloaking the blue light of day. While the Naargal have resumed to work, an unnatural state of fear still runs through your nest. Your loyal pack give off tones of nervousness and fear, as if hoping they will not have to follow you to the surface again. Overnight the water has gotten surprisingly hot in exposure to the flames, so much so that your natural wall coating slimes begin to melt, uncoating several passages and leaving them unprotected. It's proven, the world above is dangerous and filled with many unexpected phenomenon, but if you wish to bring yourselves beyond the simple brains under unbelievable stress due to your rapid evolution, then you will need to explore the surface, as only there will creatures intelligent enough to possess the evolution you seek will be found.
