Understood. From now on, the horn is the primary tool of the trade.
You decide to leave the crater behind and wiggle your Cilia until you are well over the edge of the cliff. The large fanned creatures, which you have decided to name Creepers, sit in your way, motionless on the edge of your crater. You hunch your newly thickened body down into a defensive position, and point your crystalline horn at the nearest Creeper. After yet some more motionlessness, you conclude that the Creepers won't hurt you, and move in to investigate.
You've eaten the corpse of a Creeper before, it was quite tasty, and they had the same purple goo that the Aquapede had in it's stomach, which was also edible. When you swim up to a particularly tall Creeper, you notice that the top of the fans, while the undersides are a deep black, are striped with bright red and yellow markings. The fans get smaller as the plant gets higher, although they have no specific places to put the fans. You notice that the highest fan on the creeper sports a bouquet of strings with long spheres on the ends that stickup over the rest of the creature. The center of each fan sports a long spike that appears to be quite sharp.
It wouldn't be much of a challenge to kill a Creeper, it seems. You saw the Aquapede eat one quite quickly before you killed it. But, as they say, there's strength in numbers, and numbers there are.
Your canister appears to have landed on a large, flat sandstone plate. From years of the red liquid beating on it, the Creepers seem to have been able to root themselves to the ground and spread to cover most of the plate. The only things that the Creepers can't seem to climb and root themselves on are large mesa-like structures that rise out of the lower field. Currently, you are on a particularly high elevation caused by your impact.
Some Creepers are quite tall, and cast long shadows over their smaller brethren. The taller ones tend to be at lower elevations, to the point that most of the blue sunlight would be blocked out when you descend into the lower valley. In your immediate vicinity, there is your crater, many Creepers, some small decomposers that are still, persistently stalking you, and in the near distance is a mesa-like interruption. You will have to descend down into the Creeper forest in order to reach it, though, and who knows what could be down there.
I want to call the decomposers Street Sweepers. Oh, and thirding.

Poke one on the stem then retreat and see if it moves. it could be luring us into a false sense of security

I suggest we go down into the creeper forest to reach the Mesa interruption.

ACTION COMBO!
Oh, and if the creepers move AT ALL, back away. There's more of them, and they are much bigger than us. No sense picking a fight if we agitate them. Just give them space and let them assume we meant no harm.

Before you descend into the lower depths of the forest of Creepers, you decide to examine one of the Creepers in the greatest way of examining objects since the dawn of time, poking it and seeing what happens. Keeping a low profile, you sneak up to the same Creeper that you saw before, and prod it with your horn. The Creeper is reactionless, to your prodding, so this time you try again, harder.
Your horn penetrates it's outer fleshy membrane, and a familiar purple goo seeps out of the hole you made, dripping down your horn and down the rest of your "face". Although you've clearly hurt it and it's started leaking bodily fluids into the red liquid around it, the creeper still remains motionless. This Creeper, at the very least, seems to be extremely docile and it either does not care about it's own body and the harm others do to it, or it is unable to do anything significant about it.
You feel ready to start off toward the nearest mesa-like protrusion when a thought crosses your nucleus. You did manage to eat the corpse of a Creeper, and the purple liquid is edible, maybe the Creeper wouldn't mind if you had a little snack before you left...
You weren't very hungry, but eating a Creeper was a proof of concept for your species. You use your horn to create a larger hole in the Creeper, which also begins to drain purple goo. You lap the goo up, and then begin to eat the root base, which was coursing with purple goo. It was very tasty and nutritious, and by the time you reach the fans, you're almost full to bursting. Still this was an educating experience for you. The Creepers' root-like bodies are edible, and the Creeper didn't do anything to fight back when you ate it alive.
With that knowledge in hand, you decide to move on and descend into the forest of Creepers, heading towards a large mesa-like structure nearby. At first, the surrounding Creepers remain at a very small size, but soon they begin to get taller as you descend. Halfway down the slope, and well into the forest, you feel some strange rhythmic vibrations coming from behind a tall Creeper nearby.
Huh...so Creepers are a type of plant, or possibly just really dumb animals that don't move much.
Oh, and there are vibrations coming from not far off.
Well...first of all, I second calling those decomposer guys who were following us Scrubbers, regardless of whether or not they kept following us.
Second, we've got 8 DNA, so let's evolve something. I say, since we're at the point where we have it as an option, let's take Improve Enzymes and reap the rewards of faster DNA gain.
Third, let's dig a little burrow out with our horn and rest. (Not a 'tunnel' burrow like an Irgris. Just a little hole in the dirt for us to rest inside of. We're at 4/10 endurance, and we need to recover some of that.
Then we'll see if those vibrations are anything to worry about.
Hi all. spore=awsome any way I second sleep time. also is it possible to divide?

Thirding the name, seconding improved enzymes, and thirding resting in a burrow.
@flare X2: yes, we can divide. You usually go through mitosis during sleep or before sleep, as it is the process that scrambles your DNA and allows you to evolve.
@V: It's customary to put your vote in Bold so it's easy to count the votes.

You decide that the nearby vibrations are a threat that can wait a while, as you decide that you are quite tired from climbing out of the crater. Using your horn as more than just a weapon, you dig yourself a small trench in the soft sandstone ground and quickly fall into a deep sleep. You have the slightest feeling that the vibrations are getting larger, but you are too far asleep to deal with it.
While you sleep your body gets straight to work converting this excess Arsenic-rich DNA into an advanced improvement for your species. The DNA is channeled into improving your Stomach, which soon begins to produce strong acidic enzymes that course throughout your body. Luckily, thanks to your thicker membrane, the enzymes stay safely within your body.
When you wake up you feel refreshed, but slightly hungry. The vibrations from before have gotten much stronger and closer, and as you rise out of your sleeping trench, you believe you spot a rustling creature in the Creepers ahead of you. The decomposers that have been following you, you have decided to name Sweepers, based on their scavenging nature.
