Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
aauuuuuugggh life is taking over my life! save me!
What you should save me from is having to read 140 pages of the Epic of Gilgamesh. By tomorrow. It's 8:20 PM over here. But don't worry. Homework isn't normally this intense. Yet...
Comic is coming, in the meantime what I am doing is making the equivalent of cover art for the fictitious Tales of Revelia game. Anyone who knows what the Japanese covers of the Tales games look like, that's what I'm making, but in OotS form. For those of you that don't know, it's just the entire party posing behind "Tales of Revelia" and the logo. It's looking pretty cool so far. And I will show it with outlines of the yet to be introduced characters. But first, the crappy art and info stuff. That will go up sooner than the comic.
Also also, Pokemon White 2. But you don't need to save me from that.

Gilgamesh befriended a beast man (reminds me of Lion El'Jonson and Luther of Dark Angels) until the beast man died. Gilgamesh searched for immortality and eaten by snake along the way. I learned it from History class and their land is what shaped the culture (Unpredictable river flows= neutral river deity).

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
That's a funny parallel, I think I'm taking the same history class! lol
The difference is I have to read the Epic of Gilgamesh, another book, and pieces of another book by November 5th.. then again we just started the quarter a week and a half ago. While I'm not a history major, the teacher is pretty darn cool :)

No no, my class is called Making of the Modern World, a special world history/writing class for the students of Eleanor Roosevelt College at UCSD. So unless you also go to UCSD, and are in ERC, no it wouldn't be the same class.

Thanks, and no I'm a Human Biology major, pre-pharmacy. Making of the Modern World is a GE class that everyone at ERC has to take. I don't mind; I like history, and I like writing.
Also, Sinbad from the manga Magi has Ben's hair. I'm slowly finding out that my characters are unintentionally not so original after all.
Seriously, first Fiona and Aria, now Sinbad and Ben.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Comic is getting there, still need to add people. In the meantime I will be uploading character profiles in the Extras section of the main post, and expect an updated superlogo soon.
Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Ok, you know what? I've staring at this page for so long now, I've just decided it's done. If I want to change something, it will only be adding more people or another crate or a wandering cat. Otherwise, it's done. It's been long done, and I don't feeling like changing anymore at this point. I just want to get on with the story that I have written but can't draw yet because I'm too slow at comic making.
Hopefully in the future I can design more unique looking towns. But first the next hurdle is my drawing. Time to stop drawing new characters and refine my main characters because my drawings are needed for Comic 29.
Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Depends, I haven't gotten that far in planning.
For example, in Tales of Vesperia, the final boss has two stages, but if you do a certain sidequest first, then he gains a third stage. So like I said, I haven't gotten that far in the planning.
Heck, I still have to come up with sidequests, let alone plan the final encounter.
Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
*Protagonists beat final boss*
Spoiler
*Bad Ending*
Protagonists: Gee, that sucked. Surely there must be something we can do...
*reload from final save point*
*go back to sidequest, stuff happens, True Final / Bonus Boss ensues*
*Good Ending*
Calling it now.

So do you plan to reconstruct some JRPG aspects that were deconstructed in Tales series.
like

How the good and evil battle turned out to be grey and gray battle? Like enslaving humans to save the world.

Like I said I haven't planned that far ahead. But I am thinking of something involving reloading saves, but I haven't figured out exactly how I'm going to do it. I HOW to do it, I just don't know under what context yet.

Actually I plan to leave that intact. It's what makes a Tales game special, and it will be part of what makes Tales of Revelia a Tales game comic.
I still need to develop my moral plot twist though. It's pretty hard to come up with a justifiable reason to destroy the world.
I will parody the other smaller stuff. To begin with, this comic is like one giant extended fan-made homage to the Tales series, so there will be stuff like cameos and other things that makes Tales special. What other game lets you dress your characters as Madoka characters?
So I guess I can sum up Revelia as a Tales homage/JRPG parody.
Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
I don't mind. This thread needs to stay alive while I get through finals and then after I can get you guys the next comic. Oh yeah update, comic is drafted, needs to be drawn in Inkscape, then I will be off preparing before the one after this one is drawn. I can write it, but I need more preparation before it can be drawn, and you'll see why when it comes out.
