I'm gonna be against the flow here and say outlined.
What? Everyone else are against the flow too, okay?

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
At last we're getting our first proof that this is JRPG-style beyond the opening page. Pulse Knight, Surge Knight and Wave Knight are exactly the sort of thing I came here to see. And Aria's armour looks really cool and JRPG-y, too.
Cool stuff, can't wait for more.

I must compliment your art style. It's as if Giant himself had drawn this! Beyond that, the story's pretty nice as well. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Keep it up!

oOoo, props for starting a webcomic. It looks very nice art-wise. I hope you can keep it up. The art is much better than the webcomic i started way back ago. Haha.
Question: Is it meant to fit in a comedy genre or a more action driven genre?

I meant it to be a parody of JRPGs, similar to how OotS parodies Dnd, so that kind of comedy, lots of lampshading. But at the same time I wanted it to feel like a video game, so action sequences, fights, video game mechanics, characters talking out of panel a lot as if they had voice actors...other than that pretty much like OotS.
Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
The reason why I asked was because the comic is off to a slow start in terms of comedy. But the realm of JRPG's has a lot of material to work off from. I hope for great things in the future, you've already got a solid foundations.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
I took Pulse, Surge and Wave all to be basically just synonymous with Badass. As said, they're titles and as such I took them to be more of an abstract thing.
And hey, they do sound hella badass. So there's that.

Me neither. And the Japanese don't know what fancy English words mean so seeing an actual connection between the form of a word and its meaning is going to be a slim chance at best. Okay, that isn't quite as true as some would think but it is still a possibility, right?
And, to top it all off, pulse can just as well lead us to the heart, which means that that particular knight fights with the power of love.
Wave is, well a wave. So an unstoppable fighting force. Or a surfer dude.
And surge... Actually, I'm drawing a blank on what connection to make there. A sudden rise in power at a time of crisis? Maybe.
Real men don't need no fancy elemental powers. The figurative burning splendor of their courageous souls is more than enough.

Surge and pulse could both refer to lightning or just plain light, for the record

For sure, but I still maintain that the surging and pulsing of the heart and the human soul is a more awesome and relevant force than lightning or light or anything else the universe can throw at you.
And I do reckon that the majority of fighting boy anime and games agree with me, even if all of them don't have the confidence to present their power of love, friendship and determination without a coat of special effects and light shows on top

Aside from captain planet, i don't know any characters that actually had it as part of their name/title, though

The King of Hearts, Domon Kasshu comes to mind. From G Gundam, which should be a familiar example of youthful fighting spirit that actually made itself known outside of Japan. There should be other examples, but I'm drawing a blank atm. Plenty of names with burning or blaze or some such indication of hot blood without literal fire in anime and JRPGs, though, which falls into the same category as what we've been discussing.
Not a huge deal, in any case. I just think the Japanese tendency to take words like Pulse and slap it on anything even remotely compatible because it sounds cool is a wondrous tradition. Who needs semantics when you have big, exotic words to use.

Lucky for you then I know English, location California, and am not going to just slap on whatever names I think sound cool unless I have a good reason to to.
And to add to the conversation, I will say that elements were not taken into account in choosing their titles. This is supposed to be a parody. Part of the parody is realizing what the Japanese did to their games.
