The heretics, though I thought it was obvious enough, will be explained in the next issue.
As of right now, I plan to get these comics out every three to five days, depending on the difficulty and the time I get to work on them. Plus, I am making this up as I go along, so sometimes it will be delayed because I need to think of how to best present the next comic as well was comics further down the line.

The end of Phase 1 states that a century has passed, though the pictures after the statue of the two are from the present time. So Aria as of yet, remember what Tsofu restated below, has no connection to the daughter that founded the Knights.

What? Everyone else are against the flow too, okay?

Interesting, a split in the knights on what their purpose entails? Intriguing.
I Am pretty sure Most JRPGs and likewise Transition similarly to that, Heck, Even Pokemon does it.
Ridiculous Interceptions in video games aside, Don't feel bad about Doing other stuff, you have a Life too! Even impatient fans don't have any Right to chain you down and stop you from that.
Not for lack of trying, though.
As for my resemblance to a Batman villain, well you have to think Capitalistic to find the answer to that. :P

The tales series specifically makes your screen crack while the fight loads, then shatters when it starts

My apologies, but is that unusual? While there is no discernible loading time to my memory, Eternal Sonata have the screen crack and shatter with white cracks as well. Thus I assumed it common. I apologise if I merely found the one other game that does this.

Most JRPGs i played do a flash and some kind of swirl or blur effect The example you gave (Pokemon) does that one instead of screen cracking (least, last i checked)

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
I'm tempted to respond to the questions about the Church and the Knights with the excuse of JRPG's are meant to be so complicated with too many terms and factions at the beginning of the game. I haven't even gotten into the required Magitech that a Tales world needs, because the action hasn't gone out of the "small farming village".
More will be explained in time, pretty soon I hope. Heck, I still need to make up the Magitech. This doesn't seem very professional does it?
Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Sorry if I fooled you.
New banner only, not new comic yet. But know that you will get before the weekend is up. Then I will have to speed ahead to keep up with my personal schedule.
As for the status page update, I can't decide on a pose for Aria. Suggestions? With reference pics if you can? Not saying I'm going to use it but they are suggestions that could influence my final art. I am confident enough now that I can produce at least a sketch-line filled drawing that is definitely not in proportion.

I have a plan for these. But for now, just assume that the random battles will look like the Tales games, so... they will look like OotS for the most part. The problem I had was finding a balance between the action and the game elements, like an HP bar, etc.
You'll see... tonight. Well my tonight, it is 6PM in California right now.
Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Well that sucks, since I moved from California two time-zones to the east.
In any case, I do imagine it possible to sort of have the HP bars and whatever user interface in like the very beginning, or sort of have dialogue boxes with the specific attacks spread throughout during the battles. But after a while, it might get a little old, so it could get in the way of the comic.
But it's your comic. I'll stop talking about mechanics.

Well, they don't need to be ever-present, any more than we need to see all of the OotS's damage and attack rolls.

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Well now it's night so... New comic!
First battle. White opaque cross-star is the death animation, which is hard to animate in a panel-based 2-D comic. The next comic will be a continuation of this battle, so this isn't the end, if you think this battle is missing something.
See Saturn? this is trying to balance mechanics placement.

I thought it made it obvious that he was bluffing about them not being recruits in the previous comic. I mean, he was surprised in the last panel of the previous comic, right after he said that they wouldn't be taken down easily.

Ok, i didn't pay close enough attention to that, but even recruits would be told something that basic, right?
I mean, that's right up there with 'pointy end towards bad guy'
