Is it too late to change some parts of my build? I'm finding it increasingly difficult to reconcile the whole "grizzled combat veteran" thing with 8 wisdom.
Plus, I'm really, really not happy with his current weapon group. I really want him to be using either a spear or a whip (a one-handed spear with range would be ideal, but they just don't exist in 4e, and while whips are an awesome concept, the damage is so pathetic).
Edit: The reason I bring it up now is because this character hasn't yet entered any combat, so his abilities and such aren't established yet. But once he does, the waveform collapses, and then it gets hairy. Plus, there were some kind of stupid decisions I made early on I'd like to fix now if possible (turns out you can add your int mod to light armor, so I would actually be better off with hide; oops). But I think I know what I want now, so I could have it done before the fight starts. And I promise not to make a habit of this.
I do understand what you're planning on here, just playing up Bugbear's likely thought process at the time.
At this point, Bugbear has no idea that Viola is capable of taking care of herself. He only knows what he sees; a small, fair, noblewoman who seems uncomfortable in these dangerous woods, and it's up to the "big strong fighter" to protect her. I'm planning to ham it up pretty good when he finally sees her in action.
If Viola doesn't get noticed, I'll do exactly as Wolfen said. Just trying to come up with a fun entrance.

I'm a big fan of the Whip for a Warlord, since I find reach to be so valuable for someone who needs to operate on the front line but not become a major target himself. And remember, often you're not really wielding a whip; you're wielding a Vampire, or a Fighter, or a Warden...
That said, you can also use (or switch to later) a Glaive or Halberd (or Greatspear with prof.) and take the feat Hafted Defense. Equivalent to a Light Shield, but you get reach and some other goodies that come with the dual-class weapons (i.e., Polearm/Heavy Blade, Polearm/Axe).
Consider it "fair" in the sense of "beautiful" and "gentle", as opposed to "light-coloured".
Haha, that makes sense. I make bad jokes sometimes, but I constantly find myself imagining Viola as a pale elfin girl because she's a vampire, then have to remind myself that she is a Drow. Also, I picture her with a parasol (to provide shade) but maybe that's anachronistic so I don't think she actually has one.

Well, I did have it on my starting equipment, but I failed to describe her with it when I introduced her. Maybe she left it in town with her non adventuring gear?
What do you think L?

Well, look it by the nice side. Now we know who NOT to choose for diplomacy.
If I do the ghost sound, will I still be able to prepare the illusion on time?

Encounter Arcane, Illusion, Implement
Standard Action Area burst 1 within 10 squares
Target: Intelligence vs. Will
Hit: The target is immovilized and takes a -4 penalty to attack rolls until the end of your next turn.
Miss: The target is slowed until the end of your next turn.
I thought it affected all the enemies in the area where it was cast, but if it doesn´t, then it´s the lizardman, of course.
