Hello everyone,
As a new member to this site I thought I'd introduce myself a bit.
I'm new to the whole web-comic thing and up until I started doing Bionic Eyed Snail I hadn't drawn anything since I left school 10 years ago.
A discussion about a year ago at work about 'B' movies prompted a couple of doodles and then over a few weeks a rough biro drawn comic. The blokes at work seemed to like it and I liked the idea of a 'B' comic, stupid story, one liners and ridiculous charaters. As I started exploring the net (finding sites like this) I decided I'd have a go at my own site. I'm finding it quite a learning curve and feel myself developing as I go but I'm really getting into the comic world.
Anyway, enough rambling I'm off to read some more of the great comics listed on this site.
I'll admit that there is an element of 'plugging' about my post but surely anyone who on here with a banner or web site in their sig is doing the same. I joined the site because doing my own comic got me into web comics in general. Believe me this isn't advert its just me saying hi and please take a look at my comic. Plus I'm using wordpress for my site so can't make any money from it.
Anyway back to eating lettuce!
Don't get me wrong, i'm ok with you doing a plug. That's perfectly fine around here. But you kinda worded it in a way that makes it look like you're trying to hide the plug via sig-linking and the post content being lorem ipsum. Odd stuff.
First off, a few words from someone who in part makes a living from guerilla marketing and social networking. You've had an account since april, and made 5 posts total , 2 of them here. That... doesn't look good. Be part of the community, make posts, ask questions, answer them, give opinions, comment on the main comic, ect. THEN post an ad.
Whether or not you're making money is beside the point. A lot of people do the webcomics thing for accolades and exposure (see the project below, anti-heroes. I get paid nada for writing it) In addition, just because it's wordpress.com doesn't mean you can't make money!
Thirdly, the comic is a bit TOO disjointed in my opinion. The jump from situation to situation is a bit jarring.
I think I've got off on the wrong foot a bit here. My original post was genuinly meant as a 'hello, this is me and this is why I'm here' but maybe I should have worded it better.
I'll start again,
Hello my name is Greg and I'm new to the world of web comics and came across this site so thought I'd check in to try and build up a better understanding of the world of making web comics.
Hi Greg! Awesome. Anything in particular you were looking at? The great thing about webcomics is there is really not much of a wrong way to do it, just different things that work for different people./
There isn't really anything in particular I'm looking at it just generally enjoying reading other peoples' stories and looking at their art. I'm fairly happy with the way my own artwork is progressing as its something I used to do a lot years ago and its a bit like riding a bike. However I do read other comics and try to pay attention to how they get the story across as that is something I have no experience in what so ever.

For that I recommend Pen and paper RPG games. Try asking a few of the GMs how they tell their stories.
