I can't seem to receive an email answer from ookoodook. I know the chances of getting one here are thin, but that's what I'm left with now.
What e-mail have you been sending these to? The one you *should* be using according to the news article is ship.manager@ookoodook.com. If you're using anything else, try that one!
I can't seem to receive an email answer from ookoodook. I know the chances of getting one here are thin, but that's what I'm left with now.
And it's not just a "is my book sent yet" kind of answer: I changed my address, got no response, then after a month got an email saying they were shipping the book to me at the wrong answer and to tell them if there were any problems. I replied right away and told them "Yes, there are problems. I sent you an email about me moving one month ago". That also went unanswered.
To top it all off, I haven't just left from college; I've moved permanently to a different country and will not just get the book a couple of months later when I go back to school.
So... what should I do?
If you send an email to ship.manager@ookoodook.com, you should get a response promptly. If you've tried that and received nothing, then email me here in the forum privately with your email address.
Finally got the book here this morning! Got the shipping mail right on the 1st of August, but it apparently got stuck at the Italian side of customs since the 13th, where they also added about 7€ of tools...but, hey, the important thing is that it arrived :)
Oh, and clearly, the USPS tracking system still reports it as "Electronic Shipping Info Received, August 05, 2011", so really, don't give it much thought ;)

I received a copy 8/15 that had been badly mangled by the post office (4 major creases on the spine and several other dents on the cover). In fact it appears the postman folded it in half against the spine at least once. It can barely be opened.
I sent an e-mail to customer service 8/16, received a shipping e-mail for a replacement book 8/18, and received my replacement book today (in excellent condition. So I’m very pleased with the way they handled the matter and am only waiting clarification on what they want done with the damaged copy.
I am adding in my e-mail feedback to them that they might want to stamp their envelopes “Do not fold”, since apparently the postman won’t respect it otherwise(for the record it was the only thing in the box which will easily hold it without any need for folding).

I received my books today in Switzerland! Of course, I had to pay the swiss idiotic *not made here* import tax on my books (27.05 CHF or 34.25 USD at the current rate), but I have them, my precious!

I hope that everyone who has books en route gets them cleared as fast as me. Thanks again to Ookoodook and the Giant for everything.
Has anyone else in New Zealand received their book yet? I was told mine had been shipped on the 10th of August (although the USPS webpage has never been updated to show that), and it's now 15 days later with no sign of it. Getting worried and wondering if any other kiwi's got theirs yet?
For any Canadians waiting for their book and wondering about transit times, I thought I'd mention that it took 14 days for my book to go from Houston to the Greater Toronto Area.
I'd like to say that I've finally had a chance to read my book after getting back from vacation, and it was awesome. No dents or scratches either, it arrived in perfect condition. Good job everyone!

Per our email exchange, we'll get a new book out in the mail. Also, we don't have the game in our warehouse yet. We actually expect the shipment tomorrow, and then we'll get busy shipping them out.
I know the damage wasnt your fault, its just the compounding of circumstances (again, most beyond your control) that led to the whole thing that frustrates me. I was really excited to get it in the mail, but then pretty taken aback when I opened it. Right now my wife has the digital camera, but ill send you a pic when she gets back.
in the future, you might want to ship them in boxes, and charge higher shipping? id have paid for it, others might not tho...

I feel your pain man, I got an order from Amazon earlier this week and it didn't have Skyward Sword either... it really irks me when things that haven't been released yet aren't included in my shipments.
Sucks that the postal service ate your book though, hopefully you live closish and will have a replacement before long!

I'm confused, but hopeful. Does this mean those of us who ordered, say, the book and the expansion can look forward to a good week?

Yeah, it's a real balancing act. I mean, a look back at some of the earlier threads will show a LOT of people angry about what Ook already needs to charge in shipping. It's a fine line between keeping most people happy with the cost and having to replace some books, and angering some people about the cost but not replacing any. The catch is, if the people are angry enough about the shipping cost, they won't order at all. I think therefore we probably need to err on the side of keeping costs down and then replacing the handful of books that do get damaged.
That said, I think a "DO NOT FOLD" stamp would be a fantastic (and relatively cheap) investment.
I'm glad to see that they were able to get everything squared away quickly for you, though.

Aye, this. I ordered the Deluxe game...should I be expecting an e-mail soon? Cause that'd make my day.

What qualifies for a replacement book? I posted pics in my last post showing the gashes, but I'm waiting for the shipping situation to cool down a bit before getting involved in the customer service.
Thanks

Yes, I really quoted myself and put it in my signature. You can't honestly say you never thought something you said was so awesome you wanted to make it into a quote and put it in your signature, can you?

Okay, maybe you can.
Why did I buy Teleporking.com? I have no idea. Am I rich yet?
Well, I received my books this weekend, too, and in good shape.
However, with these long delivery times, I think I'm unlikely to order anything from Ookoodook in the future.
Delivery is actually quite quick, in the past when I've ordered books I've gotten them within the week. It was the delays in the preorder that caused the books to take so long.

Today, I've finally received the long-awaited letter from the customs office (29 days after the package was posted). Unfortunately, the opening hours of the office mean that I won't get the book earlier than next Monday. Oh well, I've waited this long, another week won't matter that much.
By the way, the umlauts in my name are not just missing in the notification mail, they are also missing in the actual address on the package. But I'm still glad I didn't mail Ookoodook to correct it, as that would have taken several weeks longer apparently.
I got my shipping confirmation email today, which includes the Shortening, so the rest are going out.
