Default The Next Bestselling Teenage Supernatural Romance Novel

The easiest genre to write!
The goal is simple: One sentence at a time, we write the next great book in the genre of Teenage Supernatural Romance. We make it as corny as possible. Remember that staples of the genre are:
- Female protagonist; boys aren't the target audience
- Conflict between the teenage protagonists and their families
- Distress and angst about being in love with a monster
- Characterization doesn't matter; handsome descriptions of characters does matter
- Love triangle optional
- Keep it PG and leave the dirty stuff for the fanfiction boards!

As we go along, we shall together decide which monsters we use, our setting, our conflict etc, but if we can we should keep it consistent. I'll compile them every time I post. Comments on story direction will be italicized. If we make it to 50 pages and are forced to start a new one, we can make it a trilogy. Trilogies mean movies, movies mean money! Let's do this thing!

Cora's long hair whipped behind her as she rode bareback across the mountainside, leaving the town far behind her.

Underneath her, her palomino mare, Amanda, was galloping as fast as she could, in fear of being caught and tied up again.
Sorry, couldn't come up with anything better.

If the echo of hooves on rocks was any indication, Cora thought grimly, then the Mounties were getting close--too close.

Apparently she's in Canada, eh?

Cora gently stroked Amanda's silky mane and whispered "keep going, it's almost nightfall."

But it was a lie, and she knew it, for nightfall was never going to come again unless she succeeded.

Was it just her imagination, or was she getting close to the forest?
Where, you know, she'll be safe.

Regardless Clara knew she wasn't spoiled for choice, any chance of safety was better than what she had now.

I feel we're a little off topic.

All because of that stuck-up, prissy witch!

Let's add a villain, and maybe a love-triangle....

She had always been jealous of Cora's intelligence and strangely ethereal beauty, even though none of their other classmates had noticed her.

Naturally, Cora is an under-appreciated Mary Sue. I also thought I'd break out our first use of "ethereal".

She also envied Cora's comparative favor with Drusilla, the dark, brooding beauty from down the road with the distracting curves; silky, sulking lips, and waving, curling, tempestuous ebony locks who in no form, shape, or way was secretly some kind of creature.

Because we needed a love interest. I couldn't think of what kind of monster, but I decided it was a female love interest. What a twist~

Leaving up what kind of creature it is up to the next person or whoever eventually decides.

And yay me for the run-on sentence, a staple of the genre.

Unknown to most however, Drussila was indeed a creature, for you see Drussila is actually the penguin goddess "mrs. flappybottoms" but in human form.

because why not

But none of that mattered now. All that mattered was that she was safe, now that she left the town and entered the forest.

As silence fell around her, she thought she saw movement in the distance.

Enemy? Secondary love interest? Pointless animal? You make the call.

"Who's that" Cora called out in her beautiful voice, her father had told her that her mother had the same voice, that of an angel. That was before Cora's mother had died and been replaced by that Drusilla, he new stepmother.

Yes, I played the stepmother card.

The silence that answered was almost suffocating, Cora could feel her heart flutter in her chest like a panicked dove.

Maybe she should see a doctor about that...?

For a moment she thought she could see Chad Studley, the captain of the high school's ice hockey team, but something about him seemed strange. Very strange.

We're still in Canada, eh! Do hockey teams even have captains? Hell if I know. He's also probably a monster of some sort. A sexy monster.

Indeed it was Chad Studley stood there in the middle of the forest, his body glistening with sweat for some reason, a sort of writhing...movement along his well muscled bared chest as he stood still, oblivious to our heroine.
