Kern bows once again as they are brought before the Matriarch. "Greetings, Your Highness. We assaulted the enemy at their camp as planned, and unfortunately, three of your warriors fell in the ensuing battle. However, the Patriarch and nearly a score of his followers also lie dead. I do not know how many of your rival's clan remain, but we met none along the way, nor did any more arrive at the camp the night after the Patriarch's demise. I am not sure they yet know of his death."

Alright, Scorer. And, too bad I can't make that listen check. I didn't bother with ranks in those skills because someone else in our party at the time I made my sheet was better at Spot and Listen than I could ever be.
Luis frowns at the worg escort seeming to have a private conversation with the Matriarch. Hm. Well, my allies just told the story. So what happens now?
Well, it says 6770 XP and level 4, shouldn't you have more than that? I thought you were level 5 by now... Also, I don't see your actions points listed.
@Everyone
Spoiler
Yup, Action points are retroactive, by bad on that one
Also, as Hustler is in vacation I propose a small hiatus, what say you?
Ah, I see, you're still looking at the pifro one. Use the link in my sig.
On action points, are you sure they should be retroactive? I mean, I realize we nearly die with alarming frequency, but giving us that many seems a bit excessive. The Eberron implementation of action points, which is fairly similar, refreshes them each level rather than adding them, which I think is a good way to make sure they're used rather than hoarded, and also prevents us from ending up with silly amounts of them.
I don't mind waiting until hustler gets back.

*glug* As the party follows the awakened Worg out Milo took time to down his most potent newly acquired curative.
Time! If only us'ns had muchness time! Yet- even should wolves hereo call we no dare much longer. Bad if welcome end, two king have place to go. Maybe magic solve?
Spoiler
On further thought Milo downs the Cure Moderate too. Even if Drace gave Milo every drop of healing it would still take 2 more days of resting and healing to get him back to strength.
Plus, this seems just a might ominous...

Oof. I am going on vacation starting this Friday by the way, and I don't want to keep the group waiting for 10 days. I won't be back likely until the Sunday after next. You can NPC Luis while I am out, or he can be left in the hands of another player (providing you won't get him killed!) while I am out of action. I probably won't have internet where I am going, but if I do, well, you'll know. :P
"So, my minion here suggest to kill you now that I can... You are all injured and that would be easy task... Now anyone know of a reason why I should not?"
Kern speaks up quickly, hoping to avoid another paladin-induced diplomatic incident. "Certainly, Your Highness. For the first part, you would gain nothing from doing so. We are not your enemies, and as our arrangement has been completed, we wish naught more than to continue on to the capital. Once free of your territory on the other side, we would have no reason to trespass again, inadvertently or otherwise. Secondly... well, at the moment, we are on reasonably good terms. By attacking us, you would lose not only that, but also several of your warriors, who would no doubt be better employed in securing your newly-expanded territory against any remaining followers of your late rival. And while I have little doubt you could eventually kill us if we fought, there is also the possibility we would escape, which would leave you with a foe you would not otherwise have."

"Do you understand now? That is why I am the leader. These friends are powerful such as we are, we will benefit more from our alliance than killing ourselves... even if we don't see again.
You have my gratitude for fulfilling your end of the bargain and you are free to stay tonight in here. I will provide food and vigilance for tonight, will you stay?"
"Your hospitality is greatly appreciated, Highness. We will gladly accept."
"<Don't care what they say, I'm still keeping watch tonight... from a safe hiding spot.>" Kern doesn't bother to reply as Bor's voice drifts out of his pack, merely thankful that no one else can understand it.

The night falls and food is brought to you by a pair of worgs. Two fresh dead rabbits. After that the worg that suggested treason also arrives and seats in front of you all, 15' away and stares at you closely.
Drace eyes their food offerings with nostalgia. Wascally wabbit stew. Just like Pa used to make.
He notices their observer.
It would appear that not only have you failed in your attempt to kill us, but you lost face with your ruler. Do you think it was to continue interacting with us after that?
"Stew? Didn't you throw away our pot?" A jagged spark leaps between Kern's hands, igniting the small fire he'd built up, and he sets about skinning and cleaning the rabbits. "I think you'll have to settle for roast."

"Think they'll be worth it? I'm no archer, but they don't appear to be anything special." As Kern spears the rabbits and holds them over the fire, he makes a few arcane gestures in their direction, murmuring a word or two. "We may have no herbs, and I'm no chef, but I've enough magic to cheat my way around the first requirement. Should be able to manage pepper, at least."
"<Are you looking for it in that worg's head?>"
"Butterfly eyes, my friend. It could be interesting."
"<Butterfly...? Oh, I see. At least you show caution about some things.>"
Spoiler
Kern's using Prestidigitation to flavour the rabbits. Since his Prestidigitation is an SLA with no components, what he's actually casting there is Detect Thoughts, angling the cone to catch just the worg watching us. DC14 Will for the worg to keep his head shut.

"There is no stew, nor will there be stew. But the roast ought to be more or less done." As Kern divides the rabbits, he calls out to the watching worg, keeping an ear to the creature's thoughts while he does so.
"Your intentions are as transparent as your eyes, sir. But afore ye attempt to follow through on them, do realize that any such acts would prove quite counterproductive at this juncture. Ye would be well served to regain your honour through exercise of wisdom instead."
