Crissellea nods in agreement with Jacob. " Yes, that's true. Though one should always try to pick the best path and avoid unpleasantness as best as possible. "

" Well, one thing is dealing with stubborn business men that think because I'm a women I don't know how to do business. Or ones that are so stupid they won't budge even when they start to fail. But I think the worst is when I have to deal with a raided caravan. " This last one she sighs and looks down at her glass before taking a big gulp from it. Crissellea then runs her finger along the rim of the glass as she continues to explain to Jacob why she hates it. " Having to deal with the financial losses. Writing letters to inform the next of kin. Knowing there's nothing I can do but compensate for medical and finical needs of those hurt. "

Ashley tilts her head, looking curious. "Do you know how those spells work? It can give you some base components on making your own." She clearly has some experience in this sort of thing.
"Kind of I guess." Genevieve says. Of course, her player isn't exactly familiar with the mechanics of her magic. >.> "It's just words of power, really." She pulls out her wand from her sleave. "And movements with this." May or may not resemble Harry Potter magic.
Ashley gives a discerning look at the wand. "Huh. I've never seen sticks used as conduits for spells." This is coming from someone who uses sand for illusions, so that statement may have been hypocritical.
Jacob listens closely. At the end he shakes his head, then takes a long drink from his glass of whiskey.
"I know what you mean. Telling people their loved ones were killed is the hardest thing you'll ever have to do. I'll always remember the looks on their faces..."
He takes a long drag of the cigar his player forgot he had, a far away look on his face. He exhales with a long sigh.
And all the while that tendril has been sneaking out of her spine again, gradually more and more is revealed each moment. Eventually it extends back through the shelf behind her, passing through the wall as if it were illusionary.
Either the wall or the tendril. Hard to decide which, really.
Black and glassy, almost like obsidian, though with a texture more akin to the gnarled bark of an ancient tree. Electric blue sigils are carved into its surface, pulsing rhythmically with muted radiance. The further away from her it is the thicker it gets.
Zee doesn't seem to notice it. Almost as if it's as normal as the nose on her face.

" Oh, well... I've never actually had to tell someone face to face... I-I don't think I could do that. " She says somewhat sadly. " Um, what do you do Jacob? " Crissellea asks after a moment.

"Well, there's a lot of fighting." Sakura sounds a bit more subdued. She's still a bit bothered by her failure in that regard at times. "I don't fight. I can't kill things." Or won't being more accurate. "It doesn't really even matter now anyway. I can't fight, even if I wanted to. I'm actually pregnant."
"Well, I'm not very good at fighting either." Reis replies with a grin. Wait, that grin was already there. "You are? So you're married?" He asks, obviously slightly embarrassed by the sudden turn in the conversation but feeling that the Dryad would feel more cheerful if the conversation was turned away from fighting.

Jacob ponders what to say. Ultimately he's too intoxicated to do anything but tell the truth.
"I'm a mercenary now, but a long time ago I was a soldier. When I was away from the front line due to injury I was assigned to inform next of kin, that's how I ended up telling people face to face."
"It's not just a stick though. It's a magic wand. Yew, nine inches, and a hair from a sphinx's mane in the middle." Okay, I'm blatantly stealing from Harry Potter now. "I helped make it myself."
" Oh, I'm sorry. " She says and looks at her reflection in the water for a moment. " Um, sorry if this sounds rude but... isn't being a mercenary a kind of... amoral situation? "

"A sphinx? Well, no wonder that would be good for magic, then." Ashley looks a lot more curious about the wand now. "And if you helped with making it, then that's a good experience for you."
She also manages to notice Ally eavesdropping on the two. She briefly looks toward her, giving a smile and a wink.
Ally returns the illusionist's wink. She wonders if sphinx hair fetches a good price. There's probably a whole market for rare spell components and magic items...

Jacob shrugs. He doesn't seem at all offended, just apathetic.
"I've certainly heard that before. And there's some of us that will do anything for the right amount of coin. I like to think I still have some standards and morals, though."
Wonder if a bit of horn from an eldritch terrorhorror would make a good wand core...
The world may never know!
As Zee goes on cheerfully and ignorantly with her work someone finally has the bright idea of pointing out that the weird tentacle thing is showing again. Which causes Zee to freeze.
And look back.
...and poke the limb a few times.
"No... It couldn't... It's still too soon."
She takes a breath and closes her eyes.
As does every other instance of Zee in the whole Nexus.
Closes countless little eyes...
And seven open.
The earth trembles, rattling glasses and shelves in the tavern.
Zee's looking unusually pale...
"Oh no..."

"It's never bad to get help. You said you're in training, after all. I bet you'll be making wands that good on your own one day!" Ashley's trying her best to be supportive here.

If Reis were to look closer, he might note that there is s small bulge in her stomach. It's not something the average person would notice without looking for it though. And her skirt isn't exactly close fitting, but that's only because it's maternity clothing.
Sakura looks just a bit awkward at this point. She's thinking back to Cessie's little lecture on marriage and such. Of course, she knew next to nothing about marriage before coming to the Nexus. "Well, no. I'm not. The baby's, uh, my boyfriend's though. Her hands shift to settle on her stomach.

"You think so? I never really thought of myself as a wand maker." It's something he could do though.
Another minor distraction. She glances at Zee. She seems frightened. Hopefully it's not something too concerning.
At that moment, a fifteen year old, blond haired girl decides to walk into the tavern. "Hey, Zee, I need a favour." Saphire says, cheerfully, before she actually notices what's happening inside.
The writer peers at Zee for a moment. "Oh. Well. This is certainly inconvenient."
The writer turns on her heel and exits the tavern at an almost dizzying speed.
Stepping outside, she looks up at the red moon and smiles. "This'll be fun."
"You still have a while to decide what you want to do, though. The world's your oyster and all that." Ashley says this, shortly before also glancing at Zee. She wonders what was going on.

Reis nods, looking for a subject, at all, that wasn't awkward. "What's happening with the Bartender?" He asks, gesturing towards Zee, and hoping the turn of conversation catches.

" U-um... a l-l-little... " She says and looks away embarrassed. And then the ground begans to rumble. " O-oh, I think it would be best for me to retire back to my estate now. " She says and starts to get up.

Or rather somewhere between frightened and panicked.
"Oh no oh no oh no oh no," the Farmaid repeats over and over again, hands pressed to either side of her head, eyes screwed shut. The pulses of light along the tendril have picked up in speed. Presumably with her heart-beat.
"No no no, oh Deios please no. It's still too soon. It can't be time yet..."

Stirring in the deep places. Wanderers returning. Smoke from the abyss. Darkness crawls. The Nameless Legion marches. The Host unchained. The Shattered One reforged.
Stars aligning.
That Day comes.
That Day comes.
Zee flops back into her chair behind the counter, eyes vacant.

Bellan marches into the tavern at a pace far quicker than one would usually expect. He's usually plodding, gentle and seemingly lethargic. Upon spotting Zee, he approaches quickly, saying, "Zee. My brother's sent word. Something's on the move, and we--" A pause, upon seeing her state. "Zee?" Naturally, he'd assumed the Warden would be the first person to tell of such anomalies. But it seems she already knows. Predictable.
