Din frowns, and approaches the half drow... "hello...um sorry to ask...but...who are you? and who are your parents?"
The little girl glances up from mixing brownie batter, a little spot of fudge on her cheek. She passes the bowl over to Mychasi so he can finish with the mixing. "I'll set the oven, okay?"
Which she then does, humming a happy song to herself the whole time.
Once that task is done she'll turn her attention to Din.
Din smells kind of strange...
Is that a hint of divine?
But Mother said that there weren't many gods left in the Nexus.
Hmmm...
"Raril and K'rax-Naggath," the little girl wrinkles her nose a bit. "You feel really sad. How come?"

If the latter then the chimera is supposed to take Mychasi through the mirror and to the shadow plane. Place might be creepy, but there won't be any terrorhorrors there.
"Mother says there's a mean ghost in the kitchen that sets her on fire and throws things," the girl explains as she measures out the dry ingredients and passes them over toe Mychasi.
"Here! Mix this stuff up."
They don't look much like brownies yet...
"I wouldn't care about the fire," Mychasi says, with a grin, "but the throwing stuff sounds pretty bad."
Airborne saucepans are always a recipe for disaster.
The bowl is taken from the half-drow girl. The boy places both hands on the spoon's handle and begins to mix.
His technique is a vigorous one, and the bowl rocks back and forth upon the counter. The tip of his tongue peeks out between his teeth as he concentrates on keeping the bowl on the table, and not on the floor.
An older woman steps into Trog's. She is wearing a black, porcelain mask in the shape of a ferret's head, and a long, black robe decorated by electric blue lining. Her hands, worn and wrinkled from age, are clasped together in front of her at the waist, her hair, brown but shot with silver, is pulled up into a thoroughly sensible bun.
She pauses in the door, surveying the tavern. As rather strange barrels past her, the woman takes a half step back, her hands raising in shock. "Please!" She protests, reaching out to place a gentle hand on it's shoulder but probably missing. "This is a holy place, and not a place of slaughter and chaos!"

Din sighs, and smiles sadly "I feel sad, because bad things happen to me, and I don't know how to deal with them...but I know your father. he's a good man, if a little weak at times. but you can be proud of him"
The little girl smiles up at Din, beaming when her father is complimented. "You don't have to be sad just because bad things happen," the little girl says, rocking back and forth on her feet. The little girl smiles up at Din, beaming when her father is complimented. "You don't have to be sad just because bad things happen," the little girl says, rocking back and forth on her feet. "You can be joyful no matter how bad things get. It's okay to be sad sometimes. Sometimes people need to be sad. But being sad all the time will make you sick."
And with that she skips off behind the counter again, fetches a large glass tray, and sets it in front of Mychasi.

"Oh goodness." The old woman mutters to herself as the dwarf barrels on after the pig. She was going to really have to do something about that.
She starts by picking up a chair and righting it next to it's table!
There. That made her feel better.
"Do you think," the old woman asks Baby, hurrying after her and trying to fix all the furniture as she does so, "that you could maybe do that outside somewhere?"
Darst, A solid deep dwarf with grey skin, a black beard, and blue glowing eyes, steps into the tavern and immediately orders meat and and ale and bread and a bit more meat for good measure!
Being healed back from multiple third-degree burns will make a guy hungry!
There is the inevitable spillage of brownie batter over the side of the tray, but Mychasi isn't making too bad a job of it. Well... at least when you consider he's having to kneel on one of the bar stools to reach over the top.
"Is that really all there is to it?" he asks. He'd expected a far longer and more arduous process to create such godly baked treats.
"If you're already sick then you need to get better!" the little girl replies with a firm nod of the head. "Mother taught me that hugs make people feel better when they're sad. Maybe you need one of those?"
Oh!
Her eyes go wide as she suddenly remembers something! "We still need the secret ingredient!"
She needs to get the special secret ingredient for the brownies! That's the last thing you put in. But Zee keeps the jar of it up on the top shelf! Good thing the little girl is specially equipped to handle such a thing!
Her form twists and warps and pops and cracks as she shifts into her chimeric shape! Half white antelope and half gecko and half snowy owl and half arctic fox. Her body is stark white with a few decorative black spots. Spots that flash every now and again with electric blue sigils.
Her black fox nose really sticks out.
With her silly gecko toe pads she scales the wall, along the ceiling, then wraps her tail around the secret ingredient jar! Yay!

"I can give you a hug right now?" she offers, her voice sounding just as kind and innocent as it did when she was a little girl instead of a sanity eating monster.

Mother had said something about this before...
The chimera looks over her shoulder and calls, "Kitchen! A piggy got away!"
Din sighs "the best thing you can do for me, is tell me when and if any of your fathers family come to town...especially your aunt, or her cousins..."
In the form of a clattering cutlery golem shambling out of the double doors and seizing the poor piggie right as it goes running past. The terrified animal squeals and bleeds and struggles and gets hauled back into the kitchen.
It will no doubt be bamhacon again soon.

The little chimera quirks her head off to the side a bit. "...Father's relatives?" then a shake. "I don't know any of Father's relatives. Mother didn't teach me about them."
Probably because Zee isn't too familiar about them.
"I know some of Mother's relatives though. A lot of them are really scary."
Some would probably assert that the little girl/chimera is scary herself. But that would never occur to her. She's just a little girl!

The old lady was quite relieved to not have to chase around a dwarf with a butcher's knife anymore. It was surprisingly stressful.
Observing the Dwarven-strewn wreck, the old lady shakes her head at the chaos. Such a mess. And in a place of worship, no less! For sha...
Hello, what's this.
While observing the mess, the robed lady's eyes are drawn to the white chimera sitting by the counter. There is an audible gasp, followed by a flurry of motion as the masked woman makes her way over.
"You must be a Child of the Warden." She says, and there's a certain way she says the word 'child' that makes the capital C almost audible. "This is most clearly a sign." The old lady kneels before the starspawn, bowing her head. "The Watchers of the Warden have arrived to Watch Her church as she Watches Over Us. I am Mother Tarid."
"Umm..." the chimera blinks at the weird lady saying weird stuff. She glances at a nearby patron at the bar, as if for some advice about what she should say.
The middle aged human just shrugs his shoulders. This is just as much of a mystery to him!
"I... Don't think I understand what you mean," the female chimera replies slowly. "Mother just works here to meet new people to the Nexus. I don't... I'm pretty sure this isn't a church."
Why is the woman kneeling?
Oh!
There must be something on the floor!
She hopes down and sticks her nose near the base of the counter, trying to figure out what Tarid is looking at.
Cosmo brings the dwarf some nice fresh bamhacon!

Oh, how humble and gracious is this Starchild, that she lowers herself to Tarid's level! Tarid is most certainly blessed for this. The robed woman looks up at the chimera, and she should be able to see her crow-footed brown eyes through the eye-slits in her mask. "The Warden is busy Protecting Us All. The Watchers of the Warden meerly wish to return the favour." She says, in a gentle and matronly voice.
As she speaks, the door of Trog's opens again, and three more masked men and woman walk into Trog's. They lower their heads reverently.
"Starchild, we have arrived to see that the operation of this holy place continues while the Warden Protects Us All.
Cosmo does not seem the least bit happy that the dwarf is eating his fill. Stupid sour old gnome!
Meanwhile!
The little girl (who happens to be a little far chimera as well) is becoming increasingly confused at the woman's behavior. "I... Just thought you were looking at something on the floor," she admits sheepishly.
It's obvious that this child is unversed in the finer parts of their great religion!
They're going to have to educate her.
"Umm..." she glances back at Nina, her eyes pleading for help. Nina just shrugs and continues working!
