Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[Training Room -> The Operative's Office - Fade]
The Operative leads Fade to his office again. The spectre gives him a small slip of paper.
"Now that you're a member, you have a room in the Barracks. That paper has your room's location, as well as the code to the keypad on the door. Dispose of it as soon as you memorize both."
[The Operative's Office - Kal]
Once Kal enters, he sees the masked spectre. Immediately, the Operative tries to use his psychic abilities to get Kal's real name.
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Operative's Office • Kal]
Reading a Devil's mind is always a risky business, even with a tiefling like Kal.
Forays into Kal's mind yield only vivid... and X-rated () fantasy involving... oh... let's see... John and Jane Doe, Warsh, Moff, DC, Hench(wo)man Pink, three ladles, a significant amount of rope, and a rotary engine.
If Kal notices the Operative's intrusion however, he doesn't show it. Rather, he does simply as he's told, taking a seat where indicated.

Luckily for the Operative's sanity, he normally can't receive anything beyond a name. He's weird like that. The spectre does seem to notice not getting anything worthwile, though.
"First thing's first. Why don't you tell me your name? An easy start, I think."
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Operative's Office - Fade]
"I will let you know when a contract becomes available. And if you leave the premises, you'll be able to come back with no trouble." With that, the Operative lets Fade go, waiting in his office. One plotclone reunited.

"Kal'selthezaar. Or Kal for short." Replies Kal.

Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Front - Ground level]
Spontaneously, a woman wanders in. She has black hair and icy blue eyes, as well as a fur coat that looks rather out of place in a typical bar. Still, she merely sits down with a drink. Watching.
A man walks in about 30 seconds later, walks up to the bar, and says discreetly:
"So, I've heard somethin' 'bout a new guild here. For Black Ops and stuff."
The man appears fairly plain, armed with a dagger strapped to his side and a shiny belt buckle. Seriously, someone must have put him up to this. He does not look nearly competent enough for an assassin's guild.

"Honestly? Because I'm bored. The whole point of Hell's eventual storming and victory over Heaven and dominion over all of the Planes is that it happens Later rather than Sooner, and in the mean time, there's only so much time I can spend tempting mortals and corrupting them towards Evil. So, I decided to get myself a hobby, and hey, killing and murdering are two of my favorite things."
Actually, I think killing and murdering are the same thing. "So, y'know, here I am."

Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Front]
John looks at the man. "Haven't heard about anything like that."
[The Operative's Office - Kal]
"Straightforward. I like that. Although your origins raise a question, more out of curiosity than anything. If you're from Hell, how much time can you devote to this organization?"
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Front]
Well, the bartender certainly didn't expect that, so the man cuts his own throat. Various patrons scream and run. John just sighs. Some people were so stupid. He tries to grab the corpse to get it out of there.
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Front]
As John tries to grab the corpse, it begins to stand back up. Not in the 'undead' sort of way, though. In fact, it looks more like a Marionette. The spilt blood also begins to lift off of the various surfaces it landed on, coalescing into a rectangular prism. Which then freezes solid, with an inscription etched into it. The puppet will then attempt to hand the object to John.
It reads: "This has been a demonstration of assassination, this time performed upon a lewd fool who could not keep his hands to himself. I am quite aware of the burgeoning organization here, and am interested in joining. Don't try to deny it. I have word from some very reliable sources. If you are accepting new members, please leave this tablet on the bar. If not, please hand it back to my puppet."
If he attempts to show it to or hand it off to anyone else, the words will spontaneously change to a random bit of poetry.
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Front]
John sighs again. Why couldn't this person just head in the normal way, like everyone else? He leaves the tablet on the bar, and briefly considers calling the Operative up. Nah, some people had to be ignorant of these things.
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Front]
The puppet wanders outside, and begins digging himself a shallow grave and then raking the dirt back over himself. That's... ...actually kinda morbid.
In any case, the Woman from earlier heads up to the bar, and the tablet floats outside to be buried with the man.
She nods to John, and very discreetly says: "I'm sorry about the spectacle, but it's usually best to send in a decoy. You never know who's watching. Where should I go next?"
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Front -> Main Room]
After just a few seconds, the elevator goes down to the main room. Jane Doe, the secretary, points the woman to the Operative's office. Seems they communicated her desire to join.
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Operative's Office]
The spectre's lenses look directly into the woman's eyes. "Before you say another word, I want to let you know that you shouldn't kill patrons in our front. We do need to keep a public face."
He gestures to the seat in front of the desk. "Have a seat, and tell me your name." He's already trying to read the woman's mind to get a name, but it's always good to know if someone is honest or not.
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Operative's Office]
She will indeed take a seat.
"Yes, sorry about that debacle. I was going to kill him for trying to touch me like that anyway, but I suppose it could have been done a bit less publicly. At any rate, he technically killed himself, so you don't have to worry about it being traced.
My name is Sarah Bloodchanter. Sometimes known as 'the Blood Witch.' In case you hadn't guessed by now, I like to play with blood."
She's telling the truth, although that isn't her real last name. Strangely enough, the memory spot where her last name is stored appears to be completely empty, as if it was erased using some foul magic. If he can get a glimpse of her motive, he might note that she's mainly telling the truth because there is absolutely no good reason to lie. She's a pragmatist.
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Operative's Office - Sarah]
"Yes, so I gathered." The Operative notes the lack of a real last name. "Well, then, Sarah, why don't you start by telling me why you wish to join MURDER?"
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Operative's Office - Sarah]
"I wish to join because I need a job, and NO wouldn't be able to use my skills, AMEN doesn't appreciate subtlety, and pretty much everything else is boring."
She smiles.
"After all, there is little more satisfying than watching your foes slaughter each other without having to be seen at all, and no other Organization seems to fully respect that."
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Operative's Office - Sarah]
She thinks a moment.
"Well, I had to learn some bloodless magic, since actual Blood Magic is outlawed where I come from. I opted for healing, since it comes in handy when you start using your own blood for power. So I can put someone back together if things go south.
Also, I can manipulate living subjects to do almost anything that they could normally do. I can't read minds, but I can make them say whatever I desire them to say."
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Operative's Office - Sarah]
The Operative continues his cold stare into Sarah's eyes. "Seems like you have some versatility in the field. Now, normally, I would now take you down to our training room to test your skill, but I think you've already made quite the spectacle of that skill." At this point, Sarah may find a blank membership form and a pen in front of her. Wait, how did those get on the desk?
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Operative's Office - Sarah]
She doesn't bother picking up the pen. The letters and words just flow in. In red ink. Oh, who am I kidding? That's not ink.
Spoiler
Name: Sarah Bloodchanter Age: 23 Gender: Female Species: Human Specialization: Blood Mage Power Level: (This is a bit OOC, but it's C+.) Power Source: Blood. Obviously. Though I can power some spells on Lyrium. Other Important Information: I prefer to manipulate a situation rather than directly involving myself. Convenient NPC's are always handy to have nearby. Can perform public assassinations without a trace of the true assassin. Good at making things look accidental.
Re: [Nexus] MURDER I: Causing Fear Since About Five Minutes Ago.
[The Operative's Office - Sarah]
The Operative takes a look at the form. "I believe we are nearly set." A small piece of paper is floating near Sarah's hand, for her to take. "That has the location of your room, as well as the code to the lock on your door. I will contact you when a contract becomes available."
