The ghost's lenses stare straight into the man's eyes as he keeps trying to get through the resistance. He's fairly skilled, but he hasn't encountered people who are particularly resitant, and this is also practice to him.

"First of all, would you tell me your name, and why you wish to join this organization?"

Sarah returns eventually, quite empty-handed.

She'll leave a note for the Operative with Jane Doe, and wander the base for anyone to run into.

The note says:

No luck with contracts. There appears to have been some kind of Cataclysm with something called "Great Old Ones," and a lot of people are dead. This probably means that our contractual situation will not be alleviated until all deaths are confirmed, since no one wants to pay for the death of someone who may already be dead.

If she wanders here, Sarah might spot Teq Vraal rolling a cigarette on the edge of the pool table. He seems to be wandering around, for the moment, and studying the Base's interior.

Upon seeing someone else in here, though, she'll wave instead of just ignoring him though. If she's working with people, after all, she can't alienate everyone!

He continues shielding, not entirely sure who's trying to get in.

"My name is Rael Kairos. As for why I want to join, I heard about your group, and felt that it would provide interesting opportunities."

Teq looks at her blankly for all of a second, cigarette hanging out of his mouth, before waving back shortly. He looks her up and down, studying her appearance extensively, but says nothing.

Awful quiet.

"Interesting opportunities," the Operative repeats, while tapping a finger on the desk. "Well, tell me what you can contribute. What are your skills?"

"I'm able to read minds, and influence them fairly well. I can also heal people, as well as physically enhance them. As a vampire, I'm stronger and faster than most people. My most valuable talent, however, is in creating new species, or altering existing ones."

She shrinks a little under his gaze. Staring is one of those things she finds extremely uncomfortable.

He'll likely notice that her hair is disheveled, a dark but not quite pure black, and about shoulder length. She's tall, but not very. Her outfit is lined with natural fur, and is a muddy red in color. There are bloodstains on it. Her ears are unpierced, as is the rest of her visible body. However, there are slicing scars, clearly self-inflicted, horizontally across her radial arteries.

I'm not going to describe every last detail, but she looks like a fairly average human.

She eventually manages to smile a tiny bit and stammer out a greeting.

"H...Hello?"

She probably doesn't look like an assassin at all, except for the bloodstains.

The Operative is actually somewhat interested in Rael's ability to alter species. Maybe he could get a body this way. But, now was not the time for that. "And are you willing to follow orders?" After all, he didn't think vampires were well known for their obedience.

"Yes. Unless you order me to go after one of my friends."

The Operative considers this. Well, he couldn't expect everyone to be as emotionless as him. "Perfectly excusable, I think. Would you mind showing me some of your magic?"

If not stopped, he will draw a knife, and slice across his left wrist. The blood will pool in the air. When it has reached a considerable size, the wound on his wrist will seal itself, and the blood will turn to a vaguely canine creature, covered in dark red quills, with a stinger on the end of its tail, and a human mouth on each of its shoulders.

Rael will look rather drained after this (Yes, it's a pun, but he really will look drained, since this is the second time in a few hours he's used his blood magic, and he hasn't fed since the first one).

[Training Room - What Was Once A Civilian Range...]

Well, as the header of this post implies, Warsh has been rather busy as of late...

He has (attempted to) torn down the range stalls, added reinforced durasteel plates to the walls (to allow for explosives training and...wait for it...ricochet shot practice), setup various barricades for shooters and shootees to take cover behind, implemented a mechanical system that allows for flat (paper or metal) targets to appear from quite literally any area downrange and allows them to return fire with teeny guns that expel plastic pellets, and installed a computer system that monitors the number of times the shooter has fired, has been hit, and has hit his/her target.

Hard work!

The sweaty Warsh now sets about testing the new system!

"Nothing too complicated." The Operative stands from his desk. "Is it safe to assume that you carry your own weapons?"

The Operative does not stop Rael from using his blood magic. He thinks that he should introduce the vampire to Sarah. Now, though, the spectre tries to lift the canine into the air to examine it further.

"Is creating creatures all you can do with blood?"

The canine will allow itself to be lifted, but say "What are you doing?".

Rael will say ""No. That's also how I read minds. In addition, I can use it for various other effects."

The ghost ignores the canine. It wasn't of much interest to him, after all. After about a minute, he lets it down. "And what other effects are these?"

The canine walks over to Rael.

"Various. Greatly quickened healing, enhanced strength, speed, and reflexes, numerous harmful ones."

The Operative leans forward a little. "One last thing: How are you with weapons?"

"That depends. What weapons?"

"Any weapon that can be used by an assassin. Knives, firearms, wire, and the like." The spectre starts tapping the desk again, though no noise actually occurs.

[C'nor]

Rael looks thoughtful for a moment.

"I'm okay with knives. I haven't used guns in a while. Have to get used to recoil again. I wasn't bad with them."

He pauses, and reaches inside his cloak to rub a circular scar on his throat, as though remembering how he got it.

"Where I'm from, cutting off the blood flow to the brain is one of the few ways to kill a vampire, so I got good with wires early on, and stayed that way. It's been about two years since I had to use one, but I'd probably pick it up again. My main preference, however, is higher tech - lasers, EM weapons, things like that."

"I believe that everything is in order, then. I would recommend that you get used to lower tech weapons, though. They're more difficult to disable." Two pieces of paper have floated down to the desk. The first is a blank membership form. "If you'll fill that out."

The second piece of paper has the location of Rael's room in the barracks, as well as the code for the lock on his door. "That will be all, Rael. I will let you know when a contract is available."

Rael will walk out of the office, and wander the base for a bit.

In short order, he walks into the rec room. If Sarah and Teq are still there, he'll say "Hello.".

A smile - and a remarkably friendly one - forms on his mandibles. They can mimic human facial muscles pretty well.
