I've only ever had you as a DM, at least in this game. I don't really mind how DM's Me though.. If it can be someone normally awake and motivated to post at this time, that'd be awesome though..
And I need them to be patient as I build large stockpiles of gold from having 3 jobs.
This is the time I get home from work, well about 2 hours ago at least.. So, I can normally stay up an hour or two and post.. I'd love for a DM to be on that time schedule as well.
I come at work at 09.30 CET and now its almost 14.00 CET so I would be generally around for when you come home and until you sleep. Maybe not every day I can fire post after post but we can do hopefully a good progress... so if that fits you I am up for it :D

Sounds awesome to Me.. I may post after you get home from work, and I wake up.. But this will likely be the main time I'm posting. And thanks again for taking Me on. I think Plans hated how long I took to make a decision.
I wouldn't be opposed to a fallen PC being used as a NPC in a Fight Night tournament, with its original owner as controller (or being used in an at-will Fighting Ring match, for that matter, if the person chose to fight another person instead of a monster from the menagerie). Obviously there's no material benefit to doing this as far as XP or gold, but it does give you something to do. And you can have fun dashing the hopes and dreams of the PCs who are currently in the game.
However, as far as the story goes, I'm less sure about that. There's enough living PCs rolling around Aldhaven without dead ones in the mix as well.
arena spirits? What better for a house fighter than the bound spirit of a fallen adventurer. Make it specific to the arena, and perhaps leave the spirits silent. not an immortality trick, but a dread curse.
(also a cheep way to let those of us with dead characters chance to mess around with them a little. I for one want to see what Jedidiah could do in a combat...)

um... ah the whole "your soul is now gone" part of death...
ok, now I want to make a necromancer to find out this plot point...
so the whole "no coming back" had plot reasons, not to make dining matter...
hmm... perhaps let players run old characters with new fluff as house fighters? same passed stats, new paint job? say they are fighting for a salary(= room, board, and gambling and other non game important vises.)? Riz will have approved the sheet, but it won't be the dead coming back.

I think having something fun like an arena for people to do while waiting in line would be a good addition to the game, if you guys didn't already have so much on your plate. I don't think it's realistic though.

It would definitely be great fun, but, as you noticed, it would take a lot of time and effort that the current DMs simply cannot spare. On top of that, Rizban would have to go through the sheets and approve them anyway, which sort of negates the point of the endeavor.

Charicter death is already as final as the time it takes to get back through the line. But I was suggesting not that the charicters come back, but the builds get run. Jedidiah wouldn't come back, but dave the conjuor might find employment as a ringer.

Dead PCs can be used as generic NPCs for the Arena NPCs.
That means that when "The Orange haired Youth" goes to fight in the Arena instead of fighting a pre-gen npc Hustler can choose to allow your dead character to be the opponent and you can run him.
But thats as far as it goes and even that with express warning. Because right now if I fight an NPC only the DM knows my build... if I fight you, when you make a new PC you will KNOW what "the orange haired youth" can do...
So as far as I am concerned this gets a tentative ok IF the actual PC agrees on it and if the NPC is only used as such.

the more I think about it, the less I like the idea. If we had dm's with the free time to oversee this, we should just go ahead and approve more characters.
All All entirly reasonable. I have never seen the destruction reaked by ooc knowledge, but I heard it could be massive... I tend not to build around it, but that is fair. I can't think of a good way to deal with that... perhapce a gentalman/woman's agreement to avoid using the the knowledge? Then a little DM inforcment...
Edit: Plans... the NPCs could run the fights. A lot of arenas do well with that... and then the DMs arn't stuck running every fight...

Hi, I'm new to Aldhaven and looking forward to trying to get a better grasp of the city by failing miserably at whatever wild plans my character comes up with.
Rizban told me he did not know which DM was gonna pick me up, so I figured some information that might help with that.
I live in a CET+1 timezone (which is close to UTC+1, right?), and am sporadically active throughout the day (my day is usually between 8:00 and 23:00), but I peak in the mornings because I have a lot of spare time at work behind a PC.
I intent to be active, but given how much demand there is on the time of the DMs I doubt I am the only one. I was kind of hoping that whoever my DM is that we could use our time efficiently, say by every now and then arranging to be on at a time convient to both of us and have a real back and forth for 30 minutes or so.
In the future I'd be interested in helping out Aldhaven myself, but since none of you know me yet that will have to wait.
I havent seen your sheet. Can you send me it in a link along with a brief description of your character?
I am asking cause I can take you on as it fits my times but I dont have access to mythweavers from work. So if you can also tell me background wise who your character is and also what your classes/abilities are very briefly in an email I can start you off today.

Well, I'm more or less fine with what Mono describes; using fluffless (and I mean totally fluffless, this isn't a way to get a backdoor PC in the game, sneaky devils) versions of fallen PCs as NPCs, controlled by their players and set against living PCs. And as for DM attention requirements, all Arena matches (aside from those that feature Wilstaff and Bennett as competitors) are overseen by moi. Which really isn't all that many most of the time.
However, if Plans says he doesn't like it, I'm quite willing to cede to his opinion; I put enough stock in his DM-Fu to figure if he's dead set against something, there's little reason to pursue it further.
Although as far as needing to approve more characters if there are DMs with that kind of time available, I should point out I've been asking for a third PC to run for a month now
Could we get an update of the waiting list. It has been a little while and wondering how much closer my character is to getting in.

Live like your dying because today could be your last day.
I do have access to my laptop so can be on more often until my time is up. I do plan on making the most of it without investing into any long-term pbp.
