Let's Play: Touhoumon: Another World

Touhou, it's like some black hole that sucks everything into it and which there is no escape. Fans of the series have seen fit to combine it with practically every franchise on the planet, for instance:

Regardless, we are here for Pokémon, or apparently Bonéka　(...Fifth root of beauty?). Touhoumon: Another World; I have never played it, and will not be looking up anything, nor do I have any idea on whether it's actually any good. My favorite Let's Play's have all been of bad games though, so hopefully it'll at least be entertaining to anyone along for the ride.

But enough of Jjeinn's Slightly focused rambling. Let's get on with it, beginning with the time honored tradition of Pokémon roms, trying to be as similar to the original's startup as possible.

I think I'd rather play that L4D mod with those characters. Marisa would be my favorite and I would play L4D over and over and over.

Ah, but if you were Marisa, nobody else would be able to get guns or pills. You're in trouble in a zombie apocalypse if you can't chug an entire bottle of Ibuprofen every 30 minutes or so.

Hmm, FrnchGRL... is that too long? how many spaces do we have?... 7, darn too long.

You raise a good point about the bread though, hopefully she is trained in bread-fu, she might need it.

Also, that poster? That poster would mean that Patchouli is Francis. This is so absurdly wrong (and amusing, for me) that I don't even know where to start.

Ok, we are a young girl named Francais then, traveling the world capturing little girls, stuffing them into balls and forcing them to fight other little girls captured by other people.

...Or not, the "s" goes off page, anyone got another suggestion? I'll go with Francy if no-one thinks of anything.

Also, I tried downloading this myself a few days ago, but for some reason it just doesn't seem to want to work with VisualBoyAdvance. I'm not sure why.

Also, which starter did you pick? That's kind of the style of information that would be nice to have.

It actually didn't let me, I haven't had control directly on any part that I've shown and didn't even find out till later.

Huh. It must be random, since I got Luna Child as opposed to Sunny Milk. Kinda wish I hadn't picked Marisa now since I have two Electric-types.

Now that I'm playing this hack, I feel the need to look for as many bugs and oddities as possible, and so far, I've definitely found quite a few. That isn't going to stop me from enjoying the hack, though. It is still quite impressive, bugs aside.

Chapter Two: Rising

Just a little heads up, I accidentally closed it while I was recording, which caused a crash of the recording... There are some weird graphical glitches from that, they weren't like that when I played. Of course, FRANCE is cognizant of it.

OK, choice time, We get to chose a starter, and nickname both her and Sunny Milk. No, I have no idea what types any of them are besides Marisa, which FantasyFoxMan has informed us to be an Electric type. What say you?

...Also I think I'll do this the original Nuzlocke way:
1. Catch the first Pokemon you encounter in each route/cave/whatever and nothing else. If you fail to catch it, too bad, continue onwards.
2. If you Pokemon faints, consider it dead and release it.

Took a little bit of thought, but I've never done a run like that, and might as well do it while I'm flying blind. I've heard that the type matchups are slightly different here, that'll be interesting.

Welp, since YAPE (short for Yet Another Pokemon Editor) can't open Touhoumon: Another World, I can't go in there and find out the types of Boneka. But I just checked through replaying twice, and Sanae is Grass/Water, and Reimu is Normal/Flying.

I say pick Sanae 'cause she's a good girl. :V

...OK, lesson learned, never exit out of the program before turning recording off. My recording function is broken. Or rather, I cannot open the videos.

Luckily this was early in, game got pretty glitchy there, I'm going to go back and catch up to this (I'll make sure to get Sunny Milk again too).

Goes to fast for me, plus the captures Visual Boy takes are .png's which take up a lot more space than .jpg's, I don't think you guys are really going to look up close enough where you can see the difference, are you?

But wouldn't taking a video of you playing and (as I think you're doing?) taking screens from that take up more space?

I mean, if you just used the built-in screenshotter you could avoid all the issues you apparently have with the recording software. Or maybe not? I dunno, just hoping to help.
