Have you guys heard of Merely Canadian? They're the coolest thing since absolute zero. Their hit single "Hot Chocolate or the Time" is just... well, you have to hear it to believe it.

Oh, you haven't heard of them? It's ok, they're pretty obscure.

Do you guys agree with that?

C'mon, Raist. College Droupout got an 8.2. And College Dropout was miles better than MBDTF, easily. In fact, there are loads of better rap albums that they give mid 9s, which as everyone knows, are the scores pitchfork hands out to albums they really like, but don't think their fans'd let 'em get away with 10s for.
Hear hear. MBDTF was possibly the greatest album of the past ten years. Some say it might be too soon to make that call... They may be right. I only know what I think now.
Chris Rock going on for two and a half vulgar minutes about how awesome Kanye made some girl at sex doesn't to me make a PERFECT album. Or, the best album of the last ten years. Or, the best album last year. It was a good album, but it didn't even make my top ten last year.

I most certainly do. It is of the same sentiment as my favorite music quote is:
"Words have to find a man's mind before they can touch his heart, and some men's minds are woeful small targets. Music touches their hearts directly no matter how small or stubborn the mind of the man who listens."
-Patrick Rothfuss
Effective music has a way of penetrating with ease to depths that other mediums need far more effort from the subject to reach.

I've never found vulgarity to diminish the quality of a work. I thought that rant was hilarious, I wouldn't have the album any other way.
What was your favourite album of last year? And please don't say The Suburbs.
It's one of my favorite things. It's like if twee music likes you, but also wants you to die.
Did you not like The Suburbs? It was probably the second most acclaimed album of last year from my recollection. It didn't make my top ten either.
I really did not like The Suburbs. And it's not me being a "hater", I mean I loved Neon Bible and Funeral. The 'Burbs on the other hand? Naahhh... If I had to choose a favourite of '10 aside from Kanye it'd be the new Big Boi. Or the new Deerhunter. Those were pretty rad and a heck of a lot more fun to listen to than The 'Burbs.
I've been on a binge...
Of listening to !!! and DFA 1979, non-stop, sprinkled, oddly enough, with Because I Got High, by Afroman.
Any other recommendations?

I saw Death From Above 1979 this year and it was the most show I've ever been to.
Sleigh Bells, Tweak Bird's new st album, Test Icicles, Blood Red Shoes, and The Mae Shi - Hlllyh are what I tend to associate with that kind of mood.
Hmm. Top 10 albums of last year in my opinion, in no order
MBDTW-Kanye West
The Suburbs-Arcade Fire
Fences-Fences
Crystal Castles II-Crystal Castles
Plastic Beach-Gorillaz
High Violet-The National
This Is Happening-LCD Soundsystem
Crazy For You-Best Coast
Body Talk-Robyn
Teen Dream-Beach House

!!! is god tier.
Check out Out Hud, LCD Soundsystem's debut, GANG OF FOOOOUUUURRRRR, and possibly Maserati. Also Afroman's hoopy.
Best albums of 2010 was Transference, by Spoon. I loved Plastic Beach and I loved This is Happening, but Transference was pretty goddam singular.
Other things I liked... Le Noise was enjoyable, but then I'm a Neil Young fanboy. Grinderman's always fun; hell, anything Nick Cave does is pretty up there. I love Janelle Monae unconditionally; I wouldn't say Archandroid's even in the running for "best of 2010", but just the fact that it exists tickles me pink...
For my part, I find Arcade Fire, Deerhunter, Beach House, the whole Wavves/Best Coast/Girls crowd, somewhere on the spectrum from "unremarkable" to "obnoxious".
I'd have to go listen to it again to get specifics, but I'm too busy listening to the best album of 2010, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, to do that right now. U mad, bro?
I love lists. Here's one such list. 2010 albums that made me feel happy on the inside. In order from most happy to least happy.

2. Halcyon Digest (Deerhunter)
3. Sir Lucious Leftfoot (Big Boi)
4. Have One On Me (Joanna Newsom)
5. The ArchAndroid (Janelle Monae)
6. Cosmogramma (Flying Lotus)
7. This Is Happening (LCD Soundsystem)
8. Kvelertak (Kvelertak)
9. Your Future, Our Clutter (The Fall)
10. Contra (Vampire Weekend)
