Hmmm... I've been thinking a lot about this crafting process, and I'm wondering if we're really going about it right...
Crafting rules state that you need crafting progress equal to the gp value of the item for it to be completed...
Full-Plate costs 1500gp, and the Mythril aspect for heavy armor is +9000gp, thus I said you require 10,500gp of progress...
The more I think on it, though, it also states that the cost of an item represents the value of materials used, the process of acquiring them, the craftsmanship to make the item, and the work required to complete it.
So my question to you all is:
Since you already went to great lengths and costs to acquire the Mythril, and you possess the expertise to craft the Item, should you then only be required to spend the time to craft the base item (1500gp), or do you still need to spend the full time (10,500gp)?
Once the transmutation is complete, I'd argue that it's best represented by the rules for making normal full plate (or heavy plate, or Mechanus Plate, if Fredric would happen to know of such armaments). I don't recall any indication that Mithril is particularly hard to work with.

In that case, we've got 1,998gp of progress on the Full-Plate, so it shall be finished. As for Heavy or Mechanus Plate, I need stats for them, cuz they aren't on the SRD. You gave me AC bonuses already, but for making them, we need their cost and weight.
If either weigh more than 50lbs, we're gonna need more Mythril, and thereby, more exp.
There's no problem with adding-onto the armor later, so you can take it and go, and then work on it more later if you want.
Heavy Plate is from Races of Stone, page 158. It weighs 100 pounds, which would require less than 50 pounds of mithril, given that mithril armor is half the weight, and you're presumably still wearing some sort of secondary armor under the plates. ACP is -8, max Dex +0, weight of a default set is 100 lb.
Mechanus Gear is 1750 gp, and weighs 75 lb by default, with an ACP of -10 and max Dex of +0. It comes from the Planar Handbook, page 69. It also has the penalty of making you move even slower than other armors, such that Kulkav's barbarian speed would be reduced to 20 feet, while the other armors would reduce it only to 25.

I want to give a huge appology for my absence over the last week. I got hit with a boatload of work stress, and have spent the last several days trying to sort it out with only limited success.
I'm heading home in a bit, and will have posts for both parties later this evening.
Once again, I am very very sorry, especially to my new players, who barely got a foot off the ground before I disapeared.
Don't worry on my end; take all the time that you need to in order to be in a suitable mental state for playing. This game is fun, but not important enough to endanger your sanity over.

I'm traveling to Japan tomorrow morning, and will be there for the next three weeks.
As such, my hands are full with packing and preparation, and so I probably won't get a real post up for another couple of days.
Once I'm there, I should have good Internet access for the first 10 days, and hopefully I won't be too brain dead to get us moving again. After that, though, I'll be traveling into the country, and my access will be sporadic, if at all.
Sooo.... While I'm not around, and since both parties are in sort of exploration phases, I'd like to encourage you all to engage in a little In-Character chatter. Perhaps discuss what you plan to do with the riches you hope to find, or have found, or the meanings of the relics and carvings you've witnessed, or whatever.
Particularly the main group, I think there's alot of conclusions you might come to from all the clues you've received, that will come to light if you take the time to sit down and talk about it. :-D
Once again, I'm sorry my life has sort of exploded recently, but all is coming to gather, and I should be back to full time attendance sometime in the near future.
Cheers,
X
P.S. @ Sucrose: 'Never never never split the party!?' You guys are no fun at all ;-)
Work in Japan has been going really well, but I caught a cold almost immediately after arriving here, which, between general misery and medication, has really cut into my off hour activities.
I am recovering, however, so hopefully will be able to post more often.
Once again, huge apologies for my absence, and I really appreciate your patience.
Thanks X, I'm doing a lot better myself. I'm seven and a half weeks out with this hand, and it'll only be another 4.5 till I can use it again.

My work is complete. The shows in Fukuoka are finished, and went reasonably well, and now I'm at my grandmother-in-law's house in the country side.
To make matters even better, I'm almost over my cold, and my employer lent me his portable wifi hotspot for the rest of my trip, so I'll have consistent (if not particularly fast) Internet access for the foreseeable future. :-D
Making use of said access, I've just posted Real posts to both threads, may you all quiver in fear!! >:-}

Glad to hear your hand is doing better. What'd you do to slice it open in the first place(if you don't mind my asking)? Hope the progress keeps accelerating!
I broke a window. Basically, I was already pissed off to an extreme extent due to infected (though we didn't know that at the time) spider bites on my foot, and someone said something rude/stupid which pushed me off the edge, so I basically just punched the thing next to me. Unfortunately, this was a window. Luckily, however, it was my left hand.
Anywho, just realized I forgot to roll initiative.

Oh, dear. That is a quite effective foe. Glad to hear that things are going well for you, though.

4th level HD: (1d8+3)[4]
Increasing con this level, so now it's 16.
Edit: And choosing stunning fist as bonus feat (thinking about taking sacred fist once I reach sixth).

Sorry for my absence over the last few days, I've been being defeated by GitP's DNS Cloud Server Errors. Expect my attendance to be spuradic untill Thursday, when I get back State side.
For Malthos: You can re-roll that Hit Die since you rolled a 1, if you like.
A question to the group:
The spell True Strike has a duration listed as 'applies to your next attack, if taken by the end of the next round.'
Soooo... Might an Extended True Strike(doubled duration) apply to your next two attacks taken within the next two rounds? Or would that be way too overpowered? (True Strike provides a +20 insight bonus to attack.)

How overpowered it is would depend upon the conditions of the fight, whether there was time to pre-buff, and so on.
However, doubling the duration would not allow the spell to apply to multiple attacks. It would still apply only to your next attack, though that could occur at any time over the next two rounds, for similar reasons to why it wouldn't apply to every attack in a full attack, despite lasting for a round. It explicitly states that it only lasts for the first attack.

Hey guys, I'll be joining the party at some point in the near future. This is my first pbp on these forums; I've mostly been playing over at rpg.net and doing more old-school games (OD&D, BECMI, ACKS, etc.). I've got some experience with 3.5 'tho, so hopefully will be able to add something to the game.
Awesome. We really, really need more players, these last few fights have taught us that much.
I've found that 3.5 is pretty easy to get around. I was able to play within a week of buying the core books. I'll help out if you have any difficulties.
And X, Sucrose is right about TS.

Just FYI, I'm flying back to the States tomorrow morning, so I should be around with significantly increased regularity starting in about 24 hours (+/- Jetlag modifier.)
Also, for anyone who's interested, here are the IC threads for the two alternate parties:
Home sweet home... It's been Wednesday for about 43 hours, and I've been awake for about 36 of them... Crossing the International Date Line is a bitch :-P
But I'm back now, and working up posts for all parties (though in my somewhat braindead state, you may need to confirm with me whether or not they make any sense).
Feel free to check the two magic Items Fredric just created. I did a fair bit of research for them, but since they are of my own device, I am open to argument to their validity.
Here's the Math:
Spoiler
The 'Lens of True Strike' follows RAW for creating Wonderous Items, with the Formula as follows:
Base Price = {Spell Level(True Strike=lv1) x Caster Level(Usually minimum for Spell Level) x 2000(Use Actuvated)}/ (5/charges per day(5))
= (1 x 1 x
2000)/1
=2000gp
Actual Cost= 1/2 Base Price gp, + 1/25 base price XP cost
=1000gp, 80xp
The Minotaur's Teeth, I made a ruling on...
I wanted the Item to apply the Power Attack feat, for which the most logical associated spell requirement would be 'Bull's Strength', a Lv2 spell...
However, Bull's Strength is also the requisite spell for the 'Gauntlets of Ogre Power, and the 'Belt of Giant Strength', and while legitimate, I felt it was sort of lame to have the same spell apply to a feat Item too.
The only Feat item I could find (though I might be blind) in the SRD, was the 'Gloves of Arrow Snatching', which provides the feat 'Snatch Arrows' even if the user does not meet the prerequisites(Dex 15, Improved Unarmed Strike, and Deflect Arrows), and requires the following: Craft Wonderous Item, spell 'Shield' (a Lv1 spell), and has a base cost of 4000gp (A number which I have failed to replicate with the provided formulas).
Soooo....
Since I can't get the numbers of the above Item to balance with the formula, AND I believe that Exotic materials (such as a Minotaur's teeth) should be valuable in their own right, I have ruled the following:
If you acquire a symbolically significant piece of a creature (or person), you may use it to craft an Item that bestows a signature feat of that creature, without a spell requirement.
The restriction on this, shall be the number of prerequisites required for the feat, shall equal the equivalent cost of a equal level spell, and the requisite caster level to provide the spell...
Examples:
Power Attack has 1 prerequisite (13+ Strength), and so, creation would be calculated with the cost of a 1st Lv spell, Caster Lv1(Though no casting would actually be required).
Spring Attack has 4 prerequisites (Dex 13+, Dodge, Mobility, Base Attack Bonus +4), and so, would be calculated with the cost of a 4th Lv spell, Caster Lv 7.
Feats that have no prerequisites shall be treated as 0lv spells, and be calculated as .5 for the purposes of base price (As per RAW for 0lv spells).
Note again, that for any of this, the creator requires a symbolic piece of a creature who possessed the feat, and for whom the feat could be argued was a signature effect, and is not required to actually cast a spell, or even be of the appropriate caster level.
In Fredric's case, the Minotaur's teeth represent the strength and ferocity of the beast, as told by it's Power Attack (which it used to great effect in nearly wiping out the entire party.)
The formula thereby being:
Base Price = Spell Level(or in this case # of prerequisites) x (Appropriate Caster Level) x 2000(Continous)
= 1 x 1 x 2000
= 2000
Actual price = 1000gp, 80xp
As usual, I'd like to hear your thoughts, and am open to discussion/argument of my results.
I like this. It adds good flavor to the game, and could be very helpful, as some of the prestige classes I'm looking at require a lot of feats. Full support.
