Tygerlilly sneaks up behind an unsuspecting Pearl and very loudly shouts, BOO and tackles her legs almost tripping her.

Twisting desperately to avoid the pools of acid, Pearl grunts as she uses her body to protect Tygerlily from harm. She shook her head, lying there on the ground. What lethargy had overtaken her?

"Mother Mishakal! What? Right. Ah. Thank you, mighty warrior."

Abandoning any hope at dignity, Pearl clambered back to her feet.

"Princess, how lucky to have found you here. I don't suppose you could tell us how you came to be here, and what lies beyond tha door?"

"Hunh~ssnnnnnort," Lagri cracks his thick neck and lumbers to Gilthanas' side. He gawks at the damsel in distress they have secured.

"By spirits, zey starve hyu!" he hollers at the lithe princess.

Gilthanas turns to the rest of the group, Oh, I'm so sorry, I should have introduced you all sooner. Laurana smiles a little as her brother introduces everyone in the group. She even shakes Tygerlilly's hand and then checks it afterwards to make sure her rings are still there.

Thank you everyone, thank you for freeing me from them. They were about to take me to meet their Lord Verminaard and I really did not want to meet him. As for how I got here? They snatched me from Qualinesti with a dragon and, she shakes back her long hair and tucks it behind her long pointed ears, I'm pleased to see a few friendly faces again. As for outside of here? I think there are 3 floors? with multiple rooms on each one. I haven't really been around here much, they dragged me down here from outside and I've been locked up with some of the other women in a room on this level.

Hector

Hector perks up at the mention of other women locked up nearby. "Do you think all prisoners are on this level? Can you remember how many there were?

Perhaps they kept the men and women in the same area. If they could free the prisoners, they might be able to get them to safety before they took down this Lord Verminaard person. And maybe, just maybe, I can find my dad.

Laurana thinks for a moment, I'm not really sure, I've been in with women and I'm not sure about exactly where, they rushed me around, and it was hard to get my bearings. In the room I was in there were about 30 women? I haven't seen very many women from the other room. The women I've seen know more about them.

Pearl grimaces.

"The women are being kept apart from the men. There are any number of reasons why that might be. None of which seem like good things.

"Lady Laurana, our friends Rhys and Solon are just on the other side of that door. It would be safer for you to remain with them."

She looked questioningly at Gilthanas, wondering whether he was treating Laurana as one to be protected, or one who might hold the power to save them all.

Gneiss has been watching impassively from the periphery - Gilthanas seems to be all right... mostly... he guesses... but for all he knows, this Laurana could be as bad as Gilthanas's brother Porthios had been - but now he edges forward. "I really wish you could tell us more about the layout here, but I guess that can't be helped," he frowns. "Anyway, the guards - how many did you see? And were they draconians like this lot? Gobs and hobs? Mercenaries? And what do you know about this 'Verminaard'? I guess he's running things here?"

Laurana looks down at the dwarf, I have been abducted from my home, brought here against my will and confined. I certainly don't want to meet the so called lord of this place. He would only seek to use me against my will. I am grateful for your assistance, but I do not know much more about this place.

Gilthanas wraps a protective arm around his sister. I believe my sister and she doesn't need to feel like she is being interrogated after her harrowing experiences.

"And who said anything about not believing her?" Gneiss snaps back at Gilthanas. "I hoped she might know something that could help all of us keep our heads attached to our necks - including you, and now her, too." He advances on the two elves, one stubby finger jabbing upward before his face. "She should be happy to answer my questions, and you should be happy to let her. Now if you're done wasting time, we should probably keep moving - especially since we'll be going in blind, with no idea of the layout." He glares up at Gilthanas, arms folded across his chest as if daring the elf to keep pushing.

Pearl gestures towards the door through which they had burst.

"All righty then. Laurana, thanks again, and your help in keeping watch over this all-important door is much appreciated. Wish us luck!"

She glanced sharply at the normally reasonable Gilthanas before turning to Gneiss.

"Do you hear anything beyond that door, or can we proceed with what will have to pass for safety?"

Hector

Hector can't help but snicker at Gneiss' tirade, but does his very best not to be heard and worsen the situation. The moment the dwarf looks in his direction, though, he gives him a tiny thumbs up. If Pearl does the same, he puts a straight and serious face - nothing happening here.

At first excited by the opportunity to rage at something, Lagri simmers down once he realizes the conflict is strictly verbal.

Laurana almost says something, but her brother stops her as he gives Gneiss a cold glare. I am sure she has told you what she knows, now if you don't mind I will escort my sister to join the other two guarding the back door. Without another word he leads his sister out the door to the supply room.

Kalrin, realizing that he didn't always have to be the one to press for information, smiles contentedly as he moves towards the door.

"I certainly hope so," Gneiss calls to Gilthanas's departing back, "Because imagine how embarrassed she'll be if we all get killed for lack of some morsel of information that she had, but didn't think to tell us! You think then she might wish we'd asked her a few more questions?"

Reining himself in, he turns to approach the far door. He spits out a single disgusted word, "Elves!" under his breath as if it were the foulest curse in his vocabulary, then flings the door wide.

Gilthanas returns and generally ignores Gneiss for now unless it directly impacts their operations here in Pax Tharkas. He's ready to go forward.

Gneiss walks to the far side, around the pools of acid and flings open the far door. Outside is a hallway, there is a turn to the left or the group can go straight ahead.

Gneiss stalks off down the corridor and everyone else trails behind him. Tygerlilly brings up the rear and she doesn't really like the arguing, but she isn't sure what to do about it. So, she twists her topknot through her fingers and drags her feet a little.

The corridor opens up into a larger area (40ft by 80ft) with a steep staircase leading upwards. On the far wall there's another door.

Gneiss halts in the open area and turns to wait for the others to catch up. As Pearl approaches, he gestures toward the stairs and says, "Well, we've found the way up, so we've got a choice to make. Keep slogging along until we clear this floor, or charge up the stairs to look for the Dragonarmy leaders and try to, you know, cut the head off the snake. What do you think?"
