Ongoing Games (In-Character)Play-by-post games are going on in this forum as we speak (well, read). All threads on this board are actual games, so please, only post on a thread if you are a player of that game.
Brought together by rumors of a truly massive dungeon, the group has been traveling for about a week, up into the hills to the far northeast of the town they met in. The rumors say that recent earthquake activity opened up an entrance to this area. Your group set off hoping to find this entrance.
As the afternoon wears on, you come upon what appears to be a fresh opening in the side of the hill you are climbing up. The opening leads to a cave.

Door Policy
Spoiler
1.) Everyone spreads out
2.) Elia checks the door for traps, and disarms, if applicable
3.) Kulkav uses his tower shield for full cover, then opens the door, as he has the best odds to survive any leftover traps, at least at low level. In addition, his bulk and tower shield should make it very difficult for any dangerous foe within to get off a surprise attack at our group.
Taribo walks next to Frederic with a hint of curiosity on his Face.
"I wonder if thats the dungeon we've been looking for."

"It could be, we are in roughly the right place... Or it could be just another crack. The quakes certainly wreaked havoc across the area, so it may take a fair bit to find the opening we're hoping for." Fredric replies.
Mother nature playing yet another prank on us? Could be... though the same prank repeated over and over again would become somewhat boring. I, for one, really hope that we find a entrance to this mysterious dungeon as soon as possible.

Fredric
"Well, we shall know soon enough. If there is an entrance here, no doubt Elia will find it..." he chuckles, "And have half the treasure bagged by the time we get there."
Kulkav brings up the rear, for the moment. His titanic glaive is held with both talons, ever battle-ready. His newly-draconic lip curls in a jovial grin.
"Well, so long as I get half of what remains, I suppose that's acceptable."
Spoiler
Normal vision, everburning torch

"You know, Kulkov, a part of me would would disagree with that method of dividing the rewards..." he gives a meaningful look at Kulkov's glaive, "But then another, larger, part of me suspects that any disagreement between myself and that tree trunk of yours is likely to be somewhat one sided." He smiles. "Besides, if this dungeon proves to be even half of what the bards are singing about, we shall doubtless all come away well rewarded... Even if it is only with a pair of wings, and a single pass portal to the celestial planes."
The cave is relatively small, only 20'x30'. Inspecting the floor of the cave, Elia sees numerous tracks in the dirt. The tracks appear to be from many creatures, small and large. Following the tracks, they lead to a tunnel in the back of the cave that goes deeper into the hills.
Keeping his eyes open, Elia proceeds to move cautiously through the tunnel after inspecting the cave properly. If he sees something unusual he inspects it. He also tries to gage the freshness of the tracks and tries to remember if any of his partners had skills in this department.
Also Elia makes little dance moves which he does sometimes when nervous, but nobody knows about it since he's pretty stealthy about it.
"You and your gold... what if all thats to gain there there is knowledge?" he says and pauses for a moment."But if theres any gold, I want my fair share!"
Then he walks a few steps forward to see where Elia is. "Hmm. Sniffing around, as always." he mumbles something unintelligible about whisper gnomes and noses and seems fairly amused. "Ey! Look! That tunnel - looks like we've found the dungeon!"
Spoiler
Nope, don't have survival... I could scan the cave for magic though if u think thats a good idea.

"Indeed knowledge is a stable market commodity... And a little bit of knowledge can often be stretched much further than a similar portion of gold might."
Fredric comes into the mouth of the cave, just behind Taribo.
"My, but this does look promising. Taribo, if you'd be so kind as to remove the hood from your torch, that the poor eyed among us might see as well, I would certainly appreciate it."
As he speaks Fredric absently removes the dagger at his hip, an old polishing cloth, and a small vial of yellowish oil, and proceeds to apply the oil and cloth to the blade.
Kulkav tromps up to Taribo and Fredric, and peers forward.
"Well, I'll be... it seems so. Well done, Elia!"
Holding his glaive in one hand, Kulkav reaches into his pack, and draws out a torch that is already alight, before strapping it to the side of his pack, resulting in a hands-free, apparently non-burning torch.
"So, any objections to just heading in?"

"Ah yes, lets bring some light into the shadows..." Taribo pulls the hood from his everburning torch and straps it to the side of his pack in the same fashion as Kulkav. Then he pulls his light crossbow out.
"Indeed, after you, big fella. But don't worry I've got ur back!" he says as he waves his crossbow around.

After about 300' of traveling the tunnel, you come upon a finished stonework wall with a 15' gap in it. The floor transforms from rough dirt and stone to finished flagstones.
I sense people having doubt and continue going forward at maximum speed, except I'm also keeping my eyes open, being stealthy and searching everything (including the wall) as I go, so it's not really max speed. Also I'm not really good at reading other people, so I don't really sense anyone having doubt anyway.
"Hmmm." Taribo squints his eyes. "Can't even see the end of the room. U guys see anything? Perhaps we should just move toward the middle of the room... carefully."
Spoiler
Er, lets move back into our marching order? Just saying seeing how Taribo is behind Elia.
Note to self: Don't buy a everburning torch for next character. Buy a everburning javelin.

Elia is gonna try and scan the room, making sure he can find his way back. He's stealthy, perceptive and searches along the way. Also doing some dance moves.
Elia moves around the room, achieving an amazing feat of moving stealthily and jerkily at the same time. He finds nothing of interest, the room is 75'x75' with doors in the northwest and southeast corners.
Spoiler
Note that the shading on the map is actual lighting, bright vs. dim. Also, if you need to see someone's field of vision at anytime I can easily post a POV map for that player.
Kulkav enters the room, making a game of stepping only where Elia has already set foot. Given his substantially larger frame, this does restrict his mobility considerably.
"Find anything so far?"
