I've set out on a mad project to draw the Ponythread. Which is to say, a series of pictures which are to represent different bits of continuity/locations/themes or something.
It's probably going to take a while before I can put it together for the final image, so I thought I'd share the bits as I go, here*.
Spoiler
So, first up Stalliongrad (And Silent Night's original, or at least older body)
Second we have the Mad scientists of mad-science-equestria. Against some kind of orbital-rainbow-weapon backdrop because what else, really?
Edit: Divebomb is a Pegasus. Stupid non-earth ponies. >_>
Edit - Also some Gummy-Dimension, with it's resident eldritch pony fiction addict, Thubby.
Admittedly pretty terrible.
Heaven knows how this is all going to turn out.
*I'm not really after constructive critiscism or anything, just fancied putting them up somewhere.

Sorry for falling off the map again. Been drawing sporadically, but life has been keeping me away from posting. Things are kinda wobbling around, but I'll contribute, comment and stuff when I'm able.
First "column": Jake, Twilight Sparkle, the Ice King as the Nice King, Sonic, and Tails
Second: Elmer Fudd, Pinkie Pie, and Sonic hugging Tails
Last: Fionna, Finn, Bugs, Marceline, and Rob, the guy with no ears
I was drawing these to demonstrate how easy it is to suggest pony-ness with just the colors.
The adventure time ones are nice! I really need to start watching that...
But your Sonic and Tails are perfect.
Homosexual Sonic is similar to Homosexual Goku, two character variants which are a bit too popular in their fandumbs fandoms considering the canon relationships they are in.

Nothing really to add though, horse anatomy isn't really my thing.

Today I told myself I would finally try to use SAI and make something. And post it! And it was a sucess! Yay for trifle challenges! It's the fuzzy feeling of victory that matters, not the usefulness of it. Granted, I doodled them in gimp first and colored it in SAI.
But I must say, SAI is fun even if my stuff is not so good. It's so refreshing working in a program that isn't fighting against you.

It is. There's less customisation than regular pokemon games (each pokemon only has one move, for example) but there's a great deal of stategy to it that makes it very entertaining.
The DS is one of my all-time favourite consoles, up there with the N64, Dreamcast, SNES and Mega Drive. If you can scrape up the cash for an old second hand one (look for the original larger version, which will likely be cheaper) then I highly recommend getting one, and not just for Conquest. There are loads of great games for it.

(The DS isn't a console in the gaming sense). I've never really played with one, but I agree there is a lot of stuff for them. They've been around for so long now.

Speaking of clothing, I found a little clothing folds tutorial during my daily internet exploration. Sadly, it's in Japanese, but the basics should be understandable. Hopefully this may help folks out (I'll be using it at some point, I'm sure.)
Anyone have any suggestions for what I should draw next?

Hence why I added the gaming clause. Still not exactly clear, but while it is a console in the technical sense, any gamer I know would interpret console as the box that connects to your tv.

Useful, though I wasn't really focusing on the cloth aspect of the clothes in that last drawing (didn't have the time).
You should draw an old man. flyingchicken just did, and the only "real drawing" I remember ever doing was a copy of the Da Vinci one (which is on another continent, otherwise I'd look to see how good it was). Old people look different enough that I think it might be useful to draw them.

Yep, just what it says on the tin. I was going to draw a horse, but I ran out of time. I'll get on these draw suggestions tomorrow. If I don't fall off the face of the earth for a few weeks or so.
This was based on a doodle I made at work. So I went home and colored it in SAI. The twilight is hopelessly off model and rather strange anatomy wise, but it was mostly color practice.

An old man and a squirrel are now in my queue. I'll get to them just as soon as I finish the picture I started yesterday on my own initiative. I got hit in the face with a brick of inspiration so I decided to draw it. It's... a bit dodgy so far, but with a bit of clean up it just might be good!

A DS I guess. Basically what I was trying to say is that if you say something along the lines of "I'm playing a game on a console" people will assume you mean the current gen PS3, Xbox360, or Wii.

A work in progress, NPC character portrait for Rogue Trader.
A while ago now, I improvised a description of three NPC's on behalf of another player in a Rogue Trader game. His character was a crocodile looking horror of a navigator due to rolling on more mutation tables than he was actually supposed to have.
There's a pun there. We made it repeatedly.
So, when he requested three blonde Charlies Angel style npcs to escort him, I made up the deliberately anime inspired Caimen Sisters. The GM didn't mind, so now they're a thing.
Spoiler
This is the eldest, Esobel 'Tibb' Caiman. She is quiet, competant, thoughtful and authoritative but a tad grim and pessimistic.
I might go on to finish this, fix the bits I'm unhappy with etc. I may not. If I do, I may go on to do the other two, which was breifly my sincerely held plan.
Gave Paint Tool SAI a go. Started simple, drew a pie. I guess I see definite potential in this as a coloring tool, because for once there are brushes (that I had to find and download, but still) that work for coloring well enough that I can use them without undue strain on my hand. The pencils still don't feel quite as good as the real ones though, so I will definitely stay with MyPaint for the sketches. (That, and you really can't beat an infinite canvas)
So I decided I wanted to colour something (or at least start something) so I grabbed the Gilda sketch that Flying Chicken did.
Here's the unshaded version that I was going to dig into people with, but I'm deciding to be nice and just post...PM me if you want my rant that I was going to give (:

And here's the very blockily shaded WIP, although the eyes are mostly done...Maybe.
I thought you drew a real pie, then I clicked the link and found out you were just punning. So I decided I would draw a pie, but then I gave up and drew a Pie instead, with two pies.

I think the line along the body is too straight, plus it's nearly completely perpendicular to where she's looking and pointing, making it awkward. I think a casual viewing will draw your eyes straight at her crotch, but at the same time you're distracted by where she's pointing.

Yeah I got bored painting, plus the size and resolution was terrible for paintin anyway; also her face changed for some reason, I'm still trying to experiment on how to do paint-overs in a way where I don't radically alter the design established by sketch...

"Some girl," based on some girl from a porn photo set:

Still a work in progress (another one?!), with the steps I've taken roughly shown:
reference pic
spherical forms sketch
darkening contours, other details
inking
flat color blocks
start paint-over
to be completed: add nipples
Of what's nearly done, I think the nose could use a bit of work, make the bridge a bit more colorful and less dirty-looking, making its contour more visible.

Finally, just an idle doodle done entirely with my mouse, a hard 3px round brush and the fill bucket:

Everything below the waist looks wonky. I think the blending looks a bit blech as well.
Yeah, I don't disagree.
Plus everything above the waist. And the Posing. Also the colours and the armour design is pretty uninspiring.
I gave up on being an Artist a long time ago. The only real reason I'm assaulting the canvas with such blechy painting is because I've lost the brainworkings necessary to even begin using lineart anymore and must instead whittle crude blocks of colour into place instead. Ponythread got me doing this stuff again for the first time in quite a while, though, so I figure I might as well share.

That's one of my lines!
@ flyingchicken
I quite like the effect you got going with that fire wizard piece. I still haven't quite found a way of doing fire I like, and I can't quite eyeball the technique you used for that one - was the fire layered, or did you just blur and re-do the edges?
My one nark is that the pink muzzle of the woodbear totally ruins it's menace for me.

Thanks, and the rant was basically how a lot of people on forums (less so this one, but there are still a few) will grab a sketch by someone and then put flats on it and call it a complete picture. I hate it and want to burn their babies. I wanted to basically go "here's what lazy people do, and here's what an extra hour will get you. Stop being lazy you asses."

IDK, I think sometimes just flat colors are appropriate for some finished things (after cleaning up lines and stuff ofc).

Well, two-layered: the fire proper, and the luminance layer for that eye-searing glow. First I paint a thick, medium-lightness outline of the fire, then blend that to create the dim glow around fire, then re-paint the edges, yes; then I paint in the brighter inside of the fire. I'd place some dots and stuff around the fire to give it some... idk, fire-y-ness, then dab-blend around to soften (but not totally soften) some edges too. In the luminosity layer I just grab the medium lightness color and then just lay it down and blend it every which way.
Something I made to collect my thoughts on the process:
Sean Mirrsen's style has always been a little uncanny looking to me, but I figured I would try it, for science.
That fire stuff is interesting, I'll try and file it away if I ever do this computer painting stuff. Although I think with the corrected green colour there is a bit too much difference between the outer and inner ones as opposed to the orange, if that makes any sense (may be just be my eyes, seems a little too neon-y to be green fire IMHO).
