Looking over you character sheets, none of the backgrounds fit together that well. I wanted both characters in the game, but only had room for one game. So you guys are being pushed together. You guys should make a pretty good duo. However I haven't worked out why you two are working together yet. So in the next day or two if you wanted to discuss that, then it would be very helpful.
For the next week, you can make any changes you want to your character. I'm still reviewing the mechanics for everyone.
Also, feel free to choose your speech color.
Game will be up some time tomorrow.

Cary MacNamara will speak in Navy, the closest thing to black that isn't black.
Lineage
Spoiler
1. Caine
2. Irad
3. Lucien, called Lasombra
4. Boukephos the Greek (Independent)
5. Goeffrey of England (Camarilla)
6. Kristos, Prince of Naples
7th: Talley, Templar of the Sabbat
8th: Rafael Antonio di Volta y Castile (Independent, Formerly Sabbat)
9th: Cary MacNamara (Independent)
Other than Cary and his immediate sire, all are canon NPCs from somewhere or other. Cary knows Don Rafael would kill him if he went Sabbat, and suspects Talley is still around to kill him if he goes Camarilla.
10-minute background
Spoiler
5 Essential Things
1. Cary was born in Belfast, immigrated to New York in 1927. He served as a police officer until World War II, then joined the Navy as an MP. Upon the end of that war, he moved to Chicago to attempt to find new work as a cop, but his sire systematically destroyed his opportunities there before finally embracing him in 1946.
2. Cary is a private detective and knows quite well what he's doing. He appears to be a man in his mid-thirties. Like a true investigator, he's kept up with technology, though some of the newest things still baffle him.
3. His sire would put him out of his misery if he ever went Sabbat. His grandsire would probably murder him if he joined the Camarilla. Until Cary feels personally strong enough to defeat either of them, he's going to sit on the fence. He doesn't mind accepting the Camarilla's business, though, whether they pay in boons, cash, or respect.
4. Cary owns a mid-sized pleasure yacht, the Shadow of Montano, which serves as a haven for him in Lake Michigan. There are no mirrors inside, but many dark corners which have never seen the sun. He's been compiling navigational charts of Lake Michigan for twenty or thirty years, and considers the lake his ocean.
5. Though he's trained to use firearms, he rarely carries one. Chicago's gun laws are what they are, and he'd rather avoid a fight for the moment.
Goals:
1. Achieve enough personal strength and experience to make his own decisions about his future (long-term, unlikely to be achieved in play).
2. Secure a private island on Lake Michigan so he has a safer haven than his yacht.
Secrets:
Known: Cary's mortal family are still going strong: his nieces and nephews survived his sire's purge and have had children and grandchildren of their own. Cary will never seek them out unless he feels he can protect them from his sire.
Unknown: Cary's embrace was the subject of a competition by his sire and grandsire: if Talley had embraced him instead of Don Rafael, Cary would be either dead or a Bishop of the Sabbat by now.
Three People
1. Don Rafael Antonio di Volta y Castile is an old-world Lasombra antitribu. Embraced Sabbat, he rebelled against his sire and fought for his independence in the 1850s. He's not precisely his childe's friend, and is busy in California investigating San Francisco from a safe distance, but he's not an enemy either. Such things are hard to come by. If Cary absolutely needs to get a message to Les Amis Noir, shadowy council of all Lasombra regardless of sect, Don Rafael is the Kindred to talk to.
2. The Prince of the City is not at all friendly with Cary, but understands his usefulness when he needs to investigate something without arousing his court's suspicions. Relations are likely strained of late due to your plot, but Cary considers him a powerful rival, not an enemy.
3. Talley, by contrast, is out-and-out an enemy. A powerful Sabbat templar, Cary's grandsire is capable of horrifying deeds in the name of his dread sect. Jaris has only crossed him twice, both times with Don Rafael. It remains to be seen if he'll survive a third encounter with the deadly elder. Of course, he's still a Lasombra, and both he and Cary know there's worse things out there in the world. I against my sire, my sire and I against my line, my line and I against the Lasombra, the Lasombra and I against the world.
Three Memories
1. “I remember wondering who'd turned out all the lights. I flashed back to my war days, but that was unhelpful: we weren't being shelled, there was no panic to turn out. Just sudden silence and darkness. When I woke, the recruiter was gone, but the door was still locked from the outside, so they eventually let me go. They found poor Sgt. Flanigan's body three days later.”
2. “He didn't seem like much to be calling himself Prince, but something was off about him the first time I laid eyes on him. He might not have been older than I was, but he was definitely tougher. I resolved straightaway to change that: I'd need to be tougher to keep up with this Camarilla ponce, and I'd definitely need to be tougher if I were ever to face my grandsire and survive.”
3. “The first time I left the Lake for any great period of time, I was under a lot of stress. I figured that was the reason for my weakness. The second time, there was a storm, and I was too close to the Beast for three days to notice myself wasting away. The last time, I nearly died on a road trip to California before I dunked myself in Monterey Bay and recovered my strength. I took a plane back out of San Jose and learned I need the sea to survive. My lake is close enough for jazz.”

Maybe Cary did some work for Kadim's mentor, who I picture as a sort of hermit on the outskirts of the city. He could definitely find use for an unaligned kindred.
Vincent and Cary could have struck up a friendship/partnership that way.
Also, I'm thinking Red

Right, well I guess the real question I'm asking is 'When things go to hell, what exactly will bind you two together so that you don't run in separate directions?'
Perhaps Vincent has just arrived in town and hasn't yet set up a Haven? So he's sharing with Cary.

Enlightened self-interest. I would rather have the Assamite stand with me than have the Assamite stand against me. Plus, he seems a humane enough fellow, for a blood sorcerer.

... hope you didn't take the "Can't Cross Running Water" flaw.

I can see Alan calling in a favor Cary owes to have him introduce Kadim to the city and "crash" with him for a bit.
Will post IC tomorrow.
Also, I don't see Cary 's backstory anywhere. Can you give me some info in him?

Cary looks like a grizzled man in his early fifties, and has been a fixture on the Chicago Kindred scene since about just after WWII. He's known for being a diehard fence-sitter, and will take work from anyone whose money/credit/boon is good. He is clearly not an elder, though he's not exactly new, either.
He'd be very interested in paying off his favor to you, and I'll say something about that in the IC shortly, I suppose.

Just as an FYI, I will be out of town from a couple hours from now through Sunday (I'll post again in the IC before I go). I SHOULD have internet, but in case I don't, that's where I am.
