Technically, I guess I wasn't her mother.

Gen was... hell, Gen was never around, much less around for Amanda.
Neither of them were really stable. I had to be the mother figure, the loving stepmom, the one who had time.
And now my baby is dead in the Abyss.

She draws her knees up to her chest.

Wrong? Well... you want to lash out. Your baby got hurt and you couldn't save her. But Carrie, you need to listen to me because I've been down this road before. It's not your fault. It's not because you weren't strong enough, it's because you weren't in the right place at the right time. So what are you going to do, follow around all of your family at once? That's stupid. Yes, letting your kids have freedom means taking the risk that they're going to get hurt without you, but at some point you have to let them grow up and live a good life. You can't dwell on what could have been. Instead, think about what you're going to do next.

Sam is still talking with Dani and Karyana, but another plotclone can be found in the firing range.

Sam is practicing quick draws with the Glock in the concealed holster at her back of her belt. After she goes through another magazine, she stops to smile at the death goddess.

Hullo, dear. I can't complain. ... Are you all right? Sam sets her gun down and walks up to Carrie, looking concerned. It's the exact same expression Tobias had earlier, so for a moment Sam strongly resembles her brother.
