[Nexus] Vaess Hive

In an abandoned town, there lives a hive of the strange and spidery Vaess...
LOCATIONS

1. FOREST. The area surrounding the town was always forested, but is now much overgrown from the decades of abandonment.
2. ANGEL LAKE. The lake is partly in the boundaries of the abandoned town; the beaches are both a place of relaxation for the Vaess as well as a hunting-ground for the water-walking Nogess. The canals running through the city are also popular with that caste of Vaess.

3. MALL QUARTERBLOCK. Once a mall, this place has been converted into a quarterblock; each of the spaces where a mall store was is now quarters for several Vaess, depending on the size of the space. The quarterblock, like all quarterblocks, contains an overseer Kahzess, who assigns duties and runs the supplies.

4. HOTEL QUARTERBLOCK. This quarterblock uses the lower floors of an old hotel; the basement and ground floor are regular castes, while the second and third floors are for Kahzess.

5. PARK. The park contains a pond with sandy banks, but more importantly is connected to the forest, so hunting parties generally go out through it.

6. TUBE STATION QUARTERBLOCK. An underground subway station which has been converted into a quarterblock.

7. CENTRAL TOWER. This is where the Kahzess report for orders from... the top.

She nods, leaving a scent marking on the tree.
We'll get Vohtess to deal with them.
Back to the Hive they go, where C'nor may have a charry waiting!

Indeed, C'nor does have a character waiting, now that he's located this thread!

Specifically, a pale, even for that notably wan caste, Sukess; her armor is more white than grey, with ice-blue tints, while her skin is nearly cyan, and even her eyes, while teal, seem to have had a bit of white added in.

"Welcome back... How did your hunting go?"

Seskila smiles when she sees their friend and quartermate, scuttling over to give the pale gal a hug.
Hey! It was good, though we'll need to send some Vohtess out to deal with the humans... how've you been?

A'hassa smiles as well, happily returning Seskila's hug.

"I've been alright. A bit bored, but that happens when there's nothing going on and your friends are out. What sort of trouble did you run into that it'll take Vohtess?"

[Hive - Mall Quarterblock]
Human hunters with guns! We killed 2 but there were more and we decided it wasn't safe.

Mall Quarterblock
"Yeah! I was all like: STAB and he was all: DEAD."
"Then I got these cool little tube things from them." he said as he showed off the shotgun ammo he picked up off of them.

A'hassa nods thoughtfully, frowning a bit.


"Hm. You didn't happen to get the things to shoot those, did you? That could be quite useful, if we need to hide our presence here..."

Adam frowned.
"I disagree. Those things are loud and scare off the prey. Not to mention we'd have the possibility of everyone else here mistaking the shots for humans instead of Vaess."
"Which is why I grabbed the tube-y things instead. I have a much better idea of what to do with them!"

[C'nor]

[Mall Quarterblock]

A'hasssa smiles reassuringly at Seskila when she speaks, but then, when Adam interjects, turns to him, frowning as well, and clicking her legs against each other.

"Yes. Everyone including humans, which could be quite useful in keeping them from finding out that Vaess are here, something much more important than whether or not prey is temporarily scared off from a small area."

O noes! Argument!
Seskila frowns, not speaking yet.

"Oh really? It was to my knowledge that the humans already knew we were here, since they come onto our land even though they know we're here as was told to us when we were given our mission."
"Or was that a lie? And you just made us kill innocent people who didn't know any better?"

[C'nor]

[Hive]

A'hassa hisses in frustration, laying a hand on one of her katars.

"I didn't make you do anything, you idiot! I had nothing to do with sending you out, as one would think you'd have gotten from the fact that I look nothing like the person who did, and that I had to ask what you'd been doing!"

It's true. He's quite inattentive.

The Sukess nods curtly, scuttling over to the other side of Seskila from Adam, apparently still rather tense, though she's at least taken her hand off her katar.

[Mall Quarterblock]
Oh boy, they've done it now.
Seskila scuttles quickly into a corner she keeps dark specifically for these times, getting into a right old sulk. It's practically the most prominent Oohness skill.
She hates it when they fight and can get dangerously passive-aggressive about it---not talking, not touching people, even sometimes not eating.

A'hassa smiles at him, and waves back, before gently disengaging from Seskila, if allowed, and offering him a hand to shake.

"It's nice to meet you, Adam... I take it you're a friend of Seskila's, yes?"

"Yes, I'm her friend...and I'd shake your hand but these arm blades are a bit touchy..." he said, just as one of them accidentally unsheathes itself.
"Still trying to get used to them being that way."

Seskila giggles nervously and prays nobody accidentally dies.

"That could be rather troublesome...", A'hassa agrees, keeping a safe distance from him. "Are you certain they should be that sensitive? Perhaps the sheaths are damaged somehow?"

Adam shrugged as he took off the arm blades.
"I don't know."
He then offers his hand to A'hassa.
"Anyways, it's great to meet you, A'hassa. I hope we can become friends."

[Beans]

Seskila watches, glad they seem to be getting along.

[C'nor]

A'hassa smiles, shaking his hand, and nods.

"As do I. Especially since we're going to be living in the same place. It could get somewhat messy otherwise."
