"I'm sure if you don't try to kill them they'll be fine." He pulls out a scratched up ball and laughs. "I should probably take better care of these." He tosses the ball and out comes Era, who does a little spin like a ballerina before waiting for her opponent.
Wait, why isn't Bullet here? Zacharaiah just nervously chuckled and shrugged.
"You'll do fine!"

"The world must be an easy place to live in when it's divided into 'weak pokemon for you to beat up' and battle monkeys. At least I care about pokemon!"

Douglas stood up abruptly... and paused, just staring at Raleigh for a moment. On the one hand, he really wanted to battle, to prove that his family was anything but weak.

On the other... he was afraid. Mostly afraid, he didn't want to admit to himself, that Raleigh would beat him again. Raleigh always won. Last fight had probably been a fluke or something which is the only reason Raleigh was losing.

And then... and then he didn't want that to happen again. Not again. Two years. He still hadn't fully recovered.

Also the act of standing sent jolts of pain through his legs, and he wasn't sure if he could keep his face straight and hide that fact long enough for a battle.

He turned away from Raleigh, still fuming. "Let's try the boardwalk, Truse, guys. Leave this..."

"...this..."

"...let's go."

Truse looked up between Raleigh and Douglas, concern on his face as he began to walk away with the breeder. He did notice, among other things, that Douglas couldn't say 'murderer'. Nor anything similar to that, in fact. Huh.

Still, Douglas' fury was if nothing else unhealthy. The machoke sighed as he walked, and glanced at Tundra who was following along a little worried - sometimes, Truse really wished he could just talk to his trainer. Then again, maybe it was better that he couldn't.

Big C was particularly interested in the exchange. Somehow, the fact that his emotions were getting the better of him for the first time since the nidorino knew him helped make Douglas more... well, more of a person, perhaps.

Vicuña was himself more than a little bothered - Douglas this mad was very odd. Part of that made him not too keen on this 'Raleigh' person neither.

He tosses a ball and a crobat pops out.
"Seras here tries to be gentle. Like with this Wing Attack."
The crobat blurs as she moves, appearing in front of Era almost immediately.

Era grunts as she takes the hit, failing to roll with the damage very well. She glares and gets ready to split appear for Double Team, but then a small voice in her head tells her to wait on that. She pauses and then keeps close and uses Confusion, mirroring the grace of the bat.

He actually grabs you, and stares at you.

His facade's crumbling, as he looks angry and saddened.
"I never got to thank him for saving Drake. You gotta raise them tougher so they can be thanked after..."
He realizes what he's doing, and lets go.
"...see you around."
He pulls out his gyarados and surfs away.

Era tries to stand up to the attack, but the wind still takes its toll. She falls to one knee before fainting. Zachariah calls her back. "You did your best. He was just too fast." He looks to his right. "Ambrule, you know what to do."

Ambrule floats out to the edge of the field, flame flickering in the dim light. She glows as the candle flame on her head flickers violently, sending off a small flame that bursts upon nearing the bat.

"Thanks," Kara said looking around, "Is there anyway I can heal my friends before I go on? I've got some potions and things, but I'm running low on my own healing abilities and I'm not sure how much longer this hide and seek game is going to last..." Kara stated with a sigh.

Kara was suddenly distracted by a strange blast of light from Chuchu and Tina and stumbled back confused. When the light faded both of the two pokemon looked much different then before. "Woah!"

The gardener plants a few seeds in the disturbed soil, before nodding to several bellsprout, oddish, and bulbasaur. Within a couple minutes several trees have grown from the ground, full of berries.
"You and your friends can eat your fill, and take five with you."
He plucks several and goes to Anansi, crushing them up with his good hand and pouring the juice down the ariados's throat.

Douglas spun around, as he felt the arm on his shoulder. His face was a ball of rage at Raleigh's rebuttal, as he heard the trainer's stammer.

'What?!', he mentally shouted, enfuriated further. How dare Raleigh, after everything....

....how dare Raleigh...

...Which was when, as he noted the trainer surf away, he realized what precisely Raleigh had /said/. What? So they can be thanked?

The statement just plain confused Douglas, who just watched as the trainer dissapeared from view. He was still so mad - but...

"Rrrrrrrr." Vicuña was particularly bothered by how much this Raleigh guy had pissed off his trainer - and his growls were significantly louder now that he was much larger.

Douglas took a deep inhale, and an exhale, and squenched his eyes shut. For a few more moments, he kept himself just standing steady, hand clenched into a tight fist.

Then.

"Heh, it's okay Vicuña, you can calm down. Guess he didn't want a battle after all."

He patted the increasingly worried Tundra on the head. "So how about that boardwalk? It's cooler there, so you'll probably enjoy it more, Tundra. And while you sure as heck can't stomp there, at least you'll be able to enjoy the sea without being horribly seasick, huh Vicuña?"

It took a couple moments, but Vicuña headed in that direction, still a little bothered - but Douglas certainly seemed fine now. Maybe it'd been nothing. And a couple moments later, an errant accidental-kick from Calzoncillo was the new source of his irritation, causing the machoke to chuckle a bit and hurry forward out of his reach. Tundra kept up with the two of them, glad Douglas was feeling a lot better.

Douglas' apparent change in demeanor didn't fool Truse for a second.

But the machoke just watched his trainer, as he walked for a bit. Keeping himself composed, especially in front of his family, was something Douglas was very skilled at. But maybe this was something that he really shouldn't bottle up, before he exploded. What if that had happened at a critical moment?

For the second time in less than an hour, the machoke felt helpless. But at the instant, he wasn't sure what to do - Douglas wasn't psychic which was the only way he knew of for the two to actually talk.

At least he could be there.

He glanced at Big C, who was smirking. As Big C also had seen through the facade - he knew a pack leader had to keep himself looking tough no matter what happened - he'd seen the Nidoqueen in charge of their pack do that dozens of times, not to mention it was built into his nature as a nidoran. Douglas was, thus, a very good pack leader - but he'd need to be properly tested.

He noted the machoke staring at him, and raising an eyebrow, started after the trainer. Not knowing what was going through the nidorino's head, Truse followed.

The group headed to the boardwalk.

"Sorry, Seras. Go, Levia!"
He recalls the crobat and tosses a tentacruel out, splashing in the water.

Douglas glanced around at the boardwalk - and noted Vicuña and Calzoncillo's antics. That machoke had to watch it, though, lest the camerupt give him a mash.

Still, that was for later. For now, he looked around - Tundra was enjoying the cooler air, and - and.

Hwa?

Hesitantly, Douglas readjusted his sunglasses for a moment to make sure he'd seen that properly. "Is that water purple?" He squinted, leaning a bit closer - he must be seeing things, as he was sure it winked at him.

Truse was, for once, too busy contemplating to be paying much attention to his environment.

As tended to be the norm, Douglas recognized the danger and mentally reacted before his body was capable of responding itself - he attempted to slip backwards, but his weak legs would not allow it. Truse jerked up, noticing the pokemon far later than was normal for the machoke, and his eyes widened as he reached forward.

But this time, Big C was the one to react first - interceding between the trainer and encoming pokemon, pushing Douglas backwards. He reared back for what was probably going to be a horn attack.

"Wait!"

When he instead halted. Douglas whipped out his pokedex. "What /is/ that? I think it's trying to be friendly."

"Choke?" Calzoncillo also seemed to find the new pokemon interesting. Reaching forward, Zon poked at the sludge-like creature curiously. Truse, now that he was focused again, gently moved Douglas a little further back.

"Grimer, grime!"
One of its hands sloughs off, and is reabsorbed as another one forms. It shrinks and flows under Big C, and tries to hug him.
What's Big C's speed?

Major: "Wha? Kyogre?"
He looks confused as he pushes away from his desk, a dull looking purple stone at it.
"Why would there be a legendary sea monster here?"
(I'll widen it to poison ones that can be found in a field, but keep in mind the breeder has a male nidoran)

Nox roars again. His body glows and a pulse of energy radiates from his body. "ZWEI!!! (KILL!!!)" The voice actually is audible in everyone's mind, though different sounding than that of a telepath. "That's not good." Zachariah starts going for the hydra's ball, but not before the attack gets set off. (Yea, I know trainers go before Pokémon. Just fluff.)

"I'm working out how to synthesize a new kind of stone, maybe a new species of eevee even. Maybe multiple new species of pokemon, actually."
