I thought it was somewhat-heavily-implied in one of the novels that the Bluhd Rehvans are loyalist Thousand Sons? The red heraldry and, in the novels at least, high incidence of psykers, makes it not-unlikely. The novels do make up a lot of new information about the Ravens that isn't reflected in the games, which are arguably the primary Blood Raven information source.

I love creating my own chapters, etc, but I want to work within a framework this time. I want to play an already named chapter with its own heraldry.

Basically I want the following from a Chapter.

1) Can use Codex: SM
2) Doesn't use orange Company marking for the 6th (Bike) Company, or has lots of bikes in general.
3) Has awesome heraldry.
4) Has transfers or a shoulder pad mould that can be easily used.

It depeneds. It IS heavily implied in the Novel "A Thousand Sons" which takes place in the Horus HEresy. But for the dawn of war novels? Not so much. Also, those ones are pretty terrible.

I find it funny that a lot of prominent worlds / locations are named after 20th century scientists (eg. Schrodinger VII) and are not suppressed by the Inquisition. Or the fact that they even recall those names.

It probably doesn't have an in-universe explanation, GW hasn't exactly been creative when it comes to naming things. But if you want one, maybe the names are just dimly remembered as great people that served humanity. I'm pretty sure nobody knows anything about them, really.

Yeah, it's just author amusement. There's a mention in one of the Cain books about a planet/system called something along the lines of Aimsoboyard, Nothynere, Anutharock, 'named by a very weary explorator'.

Is it bad that I almost looked up Anutharock before I realized it was just "another rock?" Because I totally almost googled it...

Yeah, the Cain series is really full of those. One of my favoirites is "Nusquam Fundimentibus", which (with a bit of massaging) translates to "A*** End of Nowhere".

Reading Priests of Mars at the moment and had a reference to ships burning off the shoulder of Orion (probably done in by c-beams).

Also mentions that Sisters of Battle can get married.

Cain's Last Stand also mentions that Sisters don't have a vow of chastity, but they rarely get the opportunity to exercise that right.

That would be the planet Sodallagain.

There's a LOT of shout-outs to various media in the Cain books. TV Tropes lists a few.

Abnett's been talking about it since he finished Ravenor. But about four, five months since the offial announcement.

And Priests of Mars is really good - longer review on my blog if you want to know more.

One (relatively minor and contextless) spoiler tying in to the Horus Heresy:

Okay, does anyone know if Storm Wardens use Company markings? I don't think they use the usual markings.

If they don't, I'd certainly consider making a Storm Warden force.

I'm pretty sure they do, actually. They're mostly codex compliant.

The images I've seen of them only seem to be blue and silver. No other colours indicating company.

The shoulder pads always seem to have blue rims, and that is normally only for the 9th, Devastator reserve.

So, I've listened to it a couple of times now, once properly, and twice whilst painting. Malediction.

Minor Spoilers
Spoiler

Kind of significant spoiler (but if you're not planning to get it, who cares?)
Spoiler

So, aside from the false marketing (it's about Imperial Guard, not Dark Angels), and the very poor ending. It's very good. However, if you've played 90+ hours of Mass Effect and loved it, and suddenly hate the entire thing because of 5 minutes worth of ending...Then maybe you should just click the second spoiler.

I've just finished Priests of Mars and found it fantastic, up in the top three i've ever read out of the Black Library. Can't say much because all I say is probably spoilers but loved the pretty much the entire story and can't wait for the sequel.

I loved it too, though it was quite weird reading it not long after seeing Prometheus. Still, McNiell's definitely my favourite BL author and PoM is one of the best 40k books out there.

Well, previously and up until now; The C'Tan did it. But ever since Ward's ruination and de-powerment of them, it's been unclear what the purpose is.

Related to the above, how much Void Dragon is in it?

None IIRC. Basically it portrays the mechanicum as the people of the Imperium (and the vast majority of priests) know it.

Which part of the void dragon content do you object to? That he was captured by the emperor, or that he is somehow the source for the Mechnanicum capabilities? I kind of like both!

Yeah, with the old fluff, having the Omnissiah actually be an ancient necron star-god was really cool, and always made me wonder if we were ever going to see a rebellion of Mars as the techpriests fell under the sway of the Void Dragon.

With the new fluff, you have to wonder why big E didn't just powerfist the stupid thing to death while he was down there. It certainly would have been within his capabilities.
