Does anyone have a problem with day four? I'll wait a few hours in case somebody hasn't had a chance to read this yet. If nobody posts opposition in sixish hours We'll move on to day two.
@ RPGAgmJAY: You will be able to set eight snares in two hours. Different checks for each, you can take ten.

I thought you were just looking for survival OR use rope, I didn't know it was a complex skill check that required use of both? (many snares are simple small pits with reverse spikes to catch and keep a leg caught, or a cage of branches or rock that falls when a stick is touched... though I can also think of a few that do use rope as well.)
RPGAgmJAY: Yes, I just think that an animal would have a chance of escaping from something that traps it. I'm not sure what sort of check that would be besides escape artist. I'll try to work on something more complex, maybe different types of traps with different rolls to make each. I'm beginning work on it no though it is work in progress, feel free to critique.
Trapping:
Spoiler
Trapping has two basic parts, catching, and escaping. Some of the DCs may be fixed, some may depend of your check. A trap looks as follows:
Trap Spreadsheet:
Spoiler
Name: (Descriptive text)
Time to Set:
Trapping: (Skill V.S. Skill, [ex: survival V.S. Spot] Set DC V.S. Skill, [ex: DC 20 spot to notice the pit] or Skill V.S. Set DC. [ex: Disable Device {May be subject to change} V.S. DC 15 to rig the box to fall when the meat is grabbed])
Escape: The skill the animal can use to escape (ex: Str V.S. DC 25 to lift the box, Escape Artist V.S. Trapper's use rope +10 to get free of the snare, Jump DC 20 to get out of the pit.)

Snare:

Snare: This is a basic snare, easy to set, and simple to make.
Time to Set: 10 minutes per snare
Trapping: Survival V.S. Spot
Escape: Animal's Escape Artist V.S. Trapper's Use Rope +10.

Alright, there's no way I can word this that doesn't sound like me sucking up, so I'll just be out with it.
Nice write-up. Those rules fit a generic small game snare perfectly.
How you'll figure out how many animals and of what kind actually interact with the snare I leave up to you. The details behind it I don't need to know (though as a fellow GM I'd be curious as to how you tackled it). I look forward to seeing how my first set of traps worked in game.

I'll probably roll in real life every hour to see if something shows up. I'll make a table of stuff that might fall into the snares and see what happens when something comes.

Now, when I'm told to compose a piece, is that going to be a perform for just making something up, or do you want me to roll craft? And, if it's craft, does he provide the materials?
@ RPGAgmJAY: I though you where checking them at the end of the day.
Yeah, but I posted all my actions until then so I have to wait for everyone else to catch up. Until then I just didn't want anyone to think I vanished due to lack of posting.

Hey, I don't know what's going on, but the In character thread seems to be eating my posts. I'm going to wait and see if it does that thing it sometimes does when posts appear after the next person has posted, but I thought I should warn you, in case you were wondering what was going on.
Oh man, I didn't realize there was actually rules for this. Anyway, I assume I can only teach each dog one trick per week whether I succeed or fail the check.
Yeah, funny about the stuff you can find by reading the basic rules...
Did a 1st level commoner just walk through a persistant gate to the spirit world? Wow... that's ballsy. I'm going to put my money on 'probably not going to survive the experience'.
Here's to hoping folks wrap up their actions for the day and we can move forward. At least I'm not the guy who has to wait for a week to see how his training attempt turns out...

It was almost two real months before we made it to day 2, so hopefully things will speed up a bit from here. It sure seems like they have.
Yeah... two months for 24 hours... that's unbelievably aweful. Folks, not to rain on the rp parade here but for goodness sake, POST MORE THAN 1 SENTENCE.
Let's give each other enough material to play off of. If you can reasonably guess how things are going to work out, lay out the entire situation as your character would behave.
After two days of, "Hey." and "Hi." the story needs to move on already.
PbP isn't having a conversation one freakin sentence at a time over the course of weeks. It's have several conversations in a single post that covers the day and filling in gaps and quick retorts as time allows between SL movement.
DM, do your job. Give folks the material they are looking for without slowly dragging it out of them one sentence at a time. Then we can all move on to what's next.
I've got traps I set days ago (IRL). Another dude's got a week (In Game) for his handle animal check. At the same time, someone is RPing their handle animal check over the course of half a day attempting to teach a wild mutt the trick "Come".
All I'm asking is we all get on the same page and get this show on the road. If we're going to lag around then you'll have another onslaught of folks leaving the game because NOTHING IS HAPPENING. I don't want you to make orcs raid the town, I want you to stop posting like this is an Instant Messenger program and start resolving folks actions with the goal of MOVING THE STORY ALONG.
Rant Complete. Now I hope to enjoy this game.

I will admit, I would prefer this to move faster. The first day I posted ahead quite a bit and ended up feeling I pigeon-holed myself into not being able to post more because we were waiting on others.
I would much prefer posting two or three paragraphs once or twice a day than one or two sentences four or five times a day.

hobbitkniver: Yes, one trick per week, unless you want to train them for a specific purpose. If you only want 2 hours of free time, you could train them for two tricks a week.
If everyone is okay with it, We can move on to the trap checking, performances, etc.

Decided to continue the discussion on crafting here, so as not to clog up IC. I'm going to start tomorrow instead, to allow for Day 4 to finish up as soon as people want it. I know you said it was DC 10, but RoS says DC 12 for a 5 Sp Poem. Which value would you want me to use?
Crafting Answers: RoS, I didn't know it was there. I looked in PHBI and found the cost for a simple item (example, iron pot, costs 5 SP) I didn't know it was listed somewhere else. Battle axe works as well.

Almost all of the crafting I'll be doing is from Races of Stone. It has a chart listing different types of written materials with a price range and a DC.
Edit: Also, reading into it, apparently writing uses a fixed 2 Gp per week or 3 Sp per day instead of normal raw material costs. All of this is on page 131 of RoS.
