Yes, it's still a thing! Although it looks like it'll just be you and Grlump and Guy and me and maybe LastResort33 (the others are still welcome as well, if they can wrangle it). There's a Guy's couch available if you need it, too (or his bed. It's pretty big). And the destination is Bramley Station - we'll grab people from there.
Finally home, as I missed my train by about 30 seconds, but thanks all for a fun day! Would love to do it again sometime (but probably not in the near future).
I'm glad you made it back okay! So sorry about the train, we somehow went into the bus part - we even ended up coming out via a "buses only" lane! Hope we can catch up again sometime.
Don't let a few bureaucrats sully your impression of the country as a whole, Serps--I'm sure you have the same officious little twerps in Australia, too, you just maybe haven't run into them this way!
I know how rough it can be dealing with the system, believe me. But as factotum said, don't let it spoil your impression of the country.

Spoiler
The Honest Man (3.5 LG human fighter), Princess Kailee (4e Good elf cleric), Elric (4e Good human paladin)
Talia Dakashnit (3.5 CE human fighter), Gabriel Stryfe (d20 Modern fast hero), Tacin Willow (3.5 NG human fighter//bard)
I called the National Insurance Number people. They were all "so you applied for jobseeker's allowance? Then you need to call.." and I was all
and made her listen to the whole thing from the start. She then made an appointment for me in Leeds to get a Number... on the 16th of May.
I should keep calling every morning until then, though, in case there's a cancellation and I can get in earlier. In the meanwhilst, I should call Her Majesty’s Revenues and Customs for a unique taxpayer reference so that I can get paid if I work before I get my Number (although it'll cost me more in taxes).
So I call the number she gave me... which just has a voice thing telling me to call somewhere else. So I do. I'm put on hold for I don't know how long, and finally I get onto someone. They're all flummoxed at my lack of a National Insurance Number, as usual, but eventually gets my information then puts me on hold to do something.
At which point I run out of phone credit.
After starting out with $19 on my phone.
I have spent more than $30 in phone credit trying to get this damn National Insurance Number. I can't bloody afford a National Insurance Number.
I dunno. Gotta talk to Guy. I'll probably be going up to Newcastle this weekend unless I get told I've got a job and a house by the end of the week (and maybe even then, if it'll be a while before they kick in), so it'd have to be before then. edit: Actually, it'd be nice if I could grab the card of you tomorrow, if you're sure you're okay with me having it (I can pay you for it, if you like). Wanna come hang out for a few hours during the day?

Tommorow, I'll be getting back for about an hour, before off to cubs for the day, so probably not possible.
Day after? Or if you could come pick it up before I go.

If you are able to get to a jobcentre, they have telephones you can use to contact the NI number people for free.

Blue is strictly for emphasis.
And grey is kind of like an aside to my main point.
Serpentine has managed to get locked out of the house today. She stopped at Grlump's place but forgotten her key for my place. And I'll not be home until as late as 6:00.
So see you this evening, but not before 6:00.

I'm up for that, but are you going back to Guys? If so, maybe the Vue on Kirkstall Road would be better (I know it would for me). It is between Kirkstall Abbey, and Leeds, good buses, etc.

Not much point me going to Guy's as I can't get in 'til 6, but I can meet you wherever. I don't know where those places are, though <.<
edit: Grlump reckons the Bradford one would be easier cuz it's right next to the bus/train station. I don't really mind, though.
What time we thinking of meeting up?
There is also a Vue in the light, which is 5 minutes walk from the train station, which is better for me, cause I don't know how to get to Bradford >.>

I don't know what that means <.< To get to Bradford by train from Bramley Station, you get a Bradford train going west from the far/downhill platform (platform 2?). Goes straight to Bradford, and the cinema's right next to the station.
I'm good any time.
