Huh, skill checks auto-fail on natural ones? I wasn't aware. Either way, I hope no one minds me sniping all the time. I'm not sure if it's effectively in or out of character, so if it's annoying anyone I'll try to stop.

Hey, I'm learning things with those, so no problem here.

P.S. I'm still participating but I can't such post IC if all Thomas does is mumble to himself and perhaps change his posture somewhat.

Alagaesian, I really like it that everything a character does has consequences. I don't know if anybody picked up on this but I threw something at the goldies just before I ran into the room with all of you. I missed and it broke the shopwindow.

RAW they don't. From the SRD:

But I know a lot of DMs who house rule it in as such, which I'm assuming Alagaesian has done.

Yes, that is what I have done. I did it because it means there will always be a chance for success or failure with every skill check. Granted, at this point, any check you make where you roll a natural one is almost guaranteed to fail anyways.

One of the things I'm really starting to enjoy about DMing a PbP game is that I have a large amount of time to improvise with. I don't need a concrete plan all laid out ahead of time because there's no pressure to have everything ready at once. I can change and add in details as we go. Sure, I have a general framework for this campaign set up, but if someone throws a bomb through a window, I can adapt to that.

I fail to see how us enjoying this campaign and wanting to continue is hurting Alagaesian. That being said, I'm the first one to agree that real life always takes priority.

I mostly want to make sure it's alright, since I know I can be hurt by things like people agreeing that it would be nice if I showed up. That's why I'm on every day, unless my computer's broken. That is a tangent, though.

Argh. This is when Real Life really gets on my nerves. I decided to leave the thread waiting for a while so people besides Zolkabro could respond to the last couple of posts, and of course I become busy and loose regular internet access for almost a week as soon as someone responds. I sincerely apologize.

This campaign isn't hurting me in any way - in fact, now that I'm out of school, this should be helping me by holding off the boredom that usually comes when your summer vacation literally takes up a third of the year. I just had a few personal and technical issues I needed to work out. I will make every attempt I can to post more regularly - daily, hopefully - and to at least get a message out to you guys if there's going to be any sort of delay.

Anyways, more secret rolls.

I don't mind waiting a bit between updates. I used to play interactive histories where it could take months between updates.
It's just the sudden stops without news that get to me

Wisdom check to notice Curdis beginning to take his breast-plate off while I am presumably being a part of the current conversation.

it's great to have you back Alagaesian.

when you post (and not pm) that Curdis is removing his breastplate that means we all noticed it? do we need a wisdom check or spot check?

I'm afraid I'm about to leave for camping trip, and I'll be back on Tuesday night. I'll do a post now which will explain inactivity, I just hope it will be enough to stop any inconvenience for you guys.

EDIT: Post made. I'm counting on Horten not talking, which should ensure that Falxio not moving (as he won't be able to until Tuesday) will not hinder you.
Although, if Horten does want to talk, then Falxio won't be able to react, which could be problematic.

Spot would be the proper check for this circumstance. However, I didn't have everyone run a Spot check was because Curdis is in plain sight to all of you sans Falxio. You'd have to make a pretty horrible check to not notice him. However, Horten has his back to Curdis and has failed the Listen check to notice him removing the armor.

The second post of rolls was a collection of Listen rolls for everyone - no one but Punto was able to hear him at all, and as such, it's fairly obvious that Curdis has made a very good Move Silently check. If everyone else's checks had been better or Curdis's check had been worse, then this action would not seem nearly as obvious. Or suspicious.

Huh. Unfortunately, the best way of action to continue the campaign would include Horten telling you everything. However, there are still a few actions that need to be taken in this shop, so Falxio probably won't be forced to move for a few days anyways.

More rolls.

Woo, I'm back, sorry if I inconvenienced you!
Wow, big reveal... Um, sorry if I forced that when you didn't what to reveal it yet, I didn't mean to cause trouble. But, wow. So, I'd better go do a reaction post.

Also, the huge numbers of secret rolls you are doing are kind of terrifying me. I keep thinking the high ones are move silently checks for an army of dire half-dragon demon were-rabbits and honey badgers sneaking up on the house, and the low ones are our failed listen checks against them...

Heh. No, nothing like that. Though the "honey badger" reference does give me a couple interesting ideas, I'll reserve them for when you guys are at higher levels.

And, hey, no worries about forcing the reveal. It had to happen at some point. The way you did it, you let me give Horten a very nice dose of character development. By that, I mean you pressed his Berserk Button more than a couple times.

By the way, I can't help but admit that the irony of the campaign's current situation is staggering. I'm just saying that for future reference, for after you find out what some of those secret rolls were about.

I'm sorry, but I'm not really "feeling" this game anymore, and I've lost what little character development I've had with Punto. I'm honestly sorry to say this, but I think I'm going to have to drop.

Well, good luck in other games, Hellfire. It just shows different tastes in games, I've been loving this. Don't worry if this isn't your thing, I'm sure you'll find a game or RPG you enjoy. If you want to try something other that D&D, then I recommend Paranoia, although admittedly it doesn't work as well over forums as it does IRL, unlike D&D, which I think works equally well either way.

A way to make him leaving work is that he seems to have gone to the pub, everyone else goes to the gaurdhouse. So, some Goldies are at the pub and murder Hellfire, while we are all safe under gaurd. I don't know if this works with the plot, but if the DM approves it, then that would take care of that.

Do we have any other alternatives who can step it?
This could also cause more conflict with the whole "It can be any group of 6" and that we are all expendable thing, because if another of us dies it backs this up, and would make this difficult for Horten. So, even though it's a great shame Hellfire is leaving, if we look on the bright side, it could add some interesting plot details.
