At the same time, the priest came upon him, striking the giant goliath's legs. Instead of getting up, the troll just pushed his weapon at the goliath, driving it three times into the goliath, nearly severing his left leg.
Just to make sure (as it could mean life or death for Makul for this round):
The priest moves and strikes first? I'm going to assume he does as you posted the priest's rolls first in the OOC as well.
Why does Makul get an AoO vs. the troll if the troll does not get up though? I'm just going to assume he does not get one for now.
Wow, what a counter-barrage from team us! Let's see if Makul survives. I fear those daze-fortitude saves (even though his fortitude save isn't +12 but +17 with all the buffs Makul received).
So. I'll do this chronologically. Priest moves and triggers an AoO from Makul - Makul attacks to trip (touch attack):
Attack +18 (+21 -5 stone power +2 furious counterstrike): (1d20+18)[33] (+2 from bracers for 35 total); trip check: (1d20+19)[33]; follow-up attack (incl. +4): (1d20+18)[25]; damage: (2d6+18)[27] +(3d6)[11] fire
Quote:
Troll vs. Makul at -4 (1d20+20=38, 2d8+15=21, 1d20+16=30, 2d8+16=22, 1d20+20=22, 2d8+16=26) --> Troll hits Makul for 21, then for 22, and I fear the third attack hits, as well (26), for a total of 69 damage. Ouch. For each hit, Makul has to succeed at a Fort DC 25 or be dazed for one round (not stacking, i.e. max. one round).
Mal - wouldn't the last attack be at +12 and not +20 again? Unless he's hasted of course. *grasps straws*
Here are the saves vs. daze:
1st attack: (1d20+17)[26]
2nd attack: (1d20+17)[22]
3rd attack (if it hits): (1d20+17)[26]
Darn, so dazed he is. But I do hope that his trip vs. the priest is successful which would mean 27 damage less.
Damage:
27 from troll's AoO, 10 of which go to delayed damage pool and are counted off Makul's temporary hit point received via stone power.
=> 17 damage taken
69 damage taken from troll's attacks (or 43 if the third attack doesn't not wound him).
Worst case scenario (no trip and third attack hits):
96 damage - 10/106 hit points remaining
=> he lives, for now.
Mal:
Makul dealt the troll 25 normal and 11 fire damage (36 total)
The priest received 27 normal and 11 fire damage on Makul's AoO (if trip is successful)
*crosses fingers mr. troll, mr. priest and mr. leader mess up their saves*
Hey, Mal. Can we get a heads up on who of the enemies is still standing - particularly priest, troll and hobgoblin fighting Dunlan are of interest. I'd really like this piece of information as otherwise my post will be very much an if then program of several steps.

Yes! That means it drops its weapon as well. Nice.
... we probably did see that the troll was regenerating, right? I'm assuming, obviously, but... I mean... a troll. That's the classic regenerating bitch monster in fantasy.
*keeps fingers crossed for Gabriel's shots*
Edit: Well, that looks like one hit to me. And nice damage rolls to boot!
He was tripped already, now he's 'down' which means he drops his weapon as well. But as I pointed out, we'll have to expect him to get up again.
Interesting thing though - how does Tasha's Hideous Laughter and saves interact with an unconscious creature? Wouldn't he automatically fail his save? That'd be awesome.

There's been a long discussion on whether unconscious creatures have saves (and Will saves, in particular). I've posted my opinion on the matter here.
So yes, unconscious creatures usually do get Will saves, absolutely.
Ha! I believe that is where I read about it actually. I just couldn't remember what the reasoning was - or the result of the discussion (or your opinion).
Well, if he does fail his will save, that would mean funny dreams for mr. troll.
(that was somewhat close, at least for a moment or three)
Maybe we shouldn't let any greenskins flee? Maybe some have been sent off early on, but those at least didn't witness what was happening (probably). Gabriel, that sounds like a job for you...

I would help, but Aria has a range of effectiveness that stops at about 60 feet. Besides, she's more interested in closing wounds and Summer than she is by fleeing hobgoblins.
Seriously, though, have you seen Summer's Charisma?

Hey now, stop staring at my charisma. My face is up here.

On it in an hour or two.
So if I see it correctly: we have one hobgoblin that is blinded and slowed and two hobgoblins that run. Is that correct Mal?

Agreed. And Mead (softhearted academic though she is) just said that IC.

That's really sad to hear. That said, I've never been quite clear on the issues you have with the dice roller that is built into these forums. We could even make a dice thread, where posts can't be edited or deleted.
EDIT- Invisible Castle is back up and fully functional.

I often follow an iterative process of rolling, writing, rolling... and finally posting. It's easier for me to work with invisiblecastle.
That makes sense, especially with big DM posts. It's certainly a huge inconvenience to have to make a post, then go back and edit in the appropriate actions.
