Since Baern joins us a liiiiiiiiittle after deadline, you should pretend there's another token there with a big blue B.

That makes a Satyr, a Drow, a Human, two Dwarves and a Goliath. Seems well-rounded out enough!

Is there a way we should determine who goes first, if anyone wakes up before the others, or anything?

Edit; And I'll claim Blue as my color.

Aaaah I love the smell of a new campaign in the morning

I'll claim Dark Red for my character dialogue.

And I'd like to point out (even if I didn't mention it anywhere except my first post) that it's Maxi Boerson. You just translated it to english

Save vs hangover to wake up slightly first? (alcohol poisoning/drugged) (1d20+2)[16]
I will move over to the door and if it has a keyhole, peer through it, otherwise pressing my ear to it and listening for anything on the other side.

Well, to be precise, I don't mind if you want to use colours. It just never struck me as useful as in IRC or some such since on the forums, you can tell who's speaking from the poster and the narrative. :P

Yes, you are allowed to start posting!

Pepz, I just took the liberty to assume! Since you posted 11:55 PM my time that it sunday was over, I figured, "Hey, perhaps...", since finding people from the same country's always a fun pastime.

Also, Jack, 6 perception doesn't learn you anything of beyond the door, but you needed no roll to determine it is locked and rotting wood. Rolls should be made in the thread if you'd like, preferably in spoiler blocks. Remember not to preview your post prior to posting, as it will mess up the roll. You MAY edit after posting with a roll.

Ah okay, i wasnt sure. some of the other games, we make rolls in the OOC threads, then use IC for the roleplay and acting out of actions, and the DM giving descriptions and results of our actions. I'll spoiler rolls IC from now on

I find it easier if it's in the IC thread itself, given I won't need two tabs open just to make a post. :P

And yes, a 6 doesn't even meet the easy DC for a perception check, so everyone's noise (and perhaps still being sluggish) makes it so you do not hear the footsteps at all.

Everyone has 10, 11 or 15 (Maxi) Perception, which is enough to catch most things, but you still need to actively search the room and roll for Perception to discover anything new that I don't point out at first glance. Hidden pathways, secret caches of gold, murderous zombie germs that eat you from the inside out, loose stones, etcetera.

Well since he wasnt able to hear anything, Baern will try to peer through any keyhole or find narrow gaps in the rotting wood.

Edit: I am the densest and most unperceptive dwarf ever

And now the waiting, for others to commence with their posting

Sorry, I'm still a bit new to D&D.

I can still roll for a skill I'm not trained in, right? And if I fail, can I do it again? Can my allies do it if I fail?

It depends on the skill, atleast what the outcome is. you can make athletics and perception checks trained or untrained, but knowledge checks, like history, you 'remember' or learn less/not as useful information then if it were trained, representing study.
It all comes down to DM judgement call

I'll note any instances where you need to acutally be trained in the skill to use it. You don't require magical training to determine if there was magic at work in the chest, nor thievery training to pick the lock.

But, say, undoing the effects of an ancient Ritual that binds the soul of a lich to zombie germs would require some training in Religion or Arcana.

Typically, a Perception, Insight, Bluff, Diplomacy and Knowledge Check is made only once. You either notice something or you don't; you either convince them or you don't; and you either know that bit of information, or you don't. Generally, any skill check that influences someone or something, or that serves to learn something are made only once.

Tasks which can be repeated, such as picking a lock, breaking a door, disjointing a ritual or the like, you can roll for as many times as you'd like. Generally, skill checks related to physical activity can be repeated as many times as you'd like, pending DM changing situations and all.

I'll note whenever a check can be made infinite times, so any time I don't mention it you can assume it's a one-time try.

Just had fun tinkering with the map some more. ^_^

Can you put the maps in spoilers, please? They stretch my screen, and it's pretty annoying.

Well, shucks. Now I'm going to feel like the odd one out, so perhaps instead I'll choose green for my speech colour.

Ah, my apologies for starting the colour-coding trend then I've only been in one pbp game before, and in that one the colour coding was over and done with when I finally checked out the OOC thread.

And no problem with the translation, I just thought it was my little bilingual joke It always surprises me how international this forum can be

A magical barrel of Open Door (+5), maybe?

Vesth, Yes, you are ;) I figured the average Goliath would be pretty enormous for a kid who's lying on the floor. He'll get it into perspective soon :)

Jackofallbuilds, Maxi heard it but was still "asleep" while you'd all gotten up already.
