Default [NEXUS] WATCHTOWER 14: Now a Family Business.

Jutting out of the side of Overlook Waterfall like some sort of weird cathedral that got turned on it's side and converted into a fortress, is the WATCHTOWER.
Who built it? Unknown (A sect of mages known as the Dillinites). What purpose does it serve? Unknown (Dillinite Forward Command Base). How do people even know about these things? A sort of sixth sense, really, which tells everybody in Acronymia when a new thread is created (Unknown).

Previously abandoned, the WATCHTOWER has now been refurbished, thanks to the constant attentions of the members. However, due to recent events it still bears several craters and battle damaged bits and the like.

The base is also now Dimension Locked, to members and non-members alike. Teleporters, and other such users of inter-spatial travel, will only be allowed to appear or disappear at or from the main gate, at the closest.

She seems a bit confused.

"Thank you. At first I have to clear my needs. I felt a need of gold, but I can't say why."

Indeed it's a dragon thing she will feel better laying on a mountain of gold.^^

[Courtyard]

There are bunch of inanimate corpses outside and their beaten up, though still useful, Lethargia power armor. It no doubt will start to smell extra bad soon enough. They are totally godmodable.

They'll have to get them out of the armor and then Cessie should be able to burn them quickly. This should probably be done offscreen.
Glad that destroying the dagger freed the zombies, Wenomir begins to look for someone to relate his success to.

Cessie can no doubt burn a couple of mindless zombies off screen if they indeed are in torment.
Wenomir is of course welcome to relate his success to anyone thought.

Front Door

"Nay, the power to bring the dead to life once more is... is... There's a pause, as the ifrit desperately tries to think of a suitably impressive way to phrase an explanation. "You know what? Screw it." The whirlwind collapses in on itself, forming into a roughly humanoid form, a simulacrum of ash and embers, with two burning coals for eyes.

"No, I can't. No killing people, no unkilling people. Can't mess with their minds either. I guess I could point you to someone who can revive him though." The homunculus spits, sitting down on the doorstep, obviously rather bored. It's no fun when his owners refuse to be impressed, much less when they're so damn uncreative with their wishes.

[Somewhere That Way, Outside]

"I imagine that is our destination up there."
It's where those directions said to go, right? Right.
So this has to be it, because people never lie in the Nexus.
Never ever.

Reviline places her hands in the pockets of her big billowy winter coat and busily fails to think about limping wolf she saw earlier.

[At a suitably vague distance away]

Marcus peers at Watchtower. After a moment he concludes, "This place...too big to be lookout post." Which makes him wonder why it has such a name.

"Would make sense why any person knows where it is. Big place like this must be important, most people would know of it."

As he's peering at the fortress, Marcus's eyes also pick up on the craters and other signs that this place has seen some sort of combat. He points at them, "Looks like there have been fights here too. Powerful people, magics used, maybe? Holes made by something more than sword or bow."

[Vague is the New Clear]

"The various organizations are supposed to be rather well-known, I would imagine. They are big powers, for this city."
Reviline knew something of them, not even being a natural resident of the city.
Then again, she's known a couple people here, so perhaps that helped.

"I can't say what caused the destruction, but a magical battle is likely, yes.
Not entirely sure why it hasn't been repaired, I know there are people capable of it, simply enough."

Oh well, off to the gate.

[All shall be made clear in vagueness!]

"Regular fights, maybe? If often attacked, might be hard for them to keep place repaired." Or maybe they're just lazy, or maybe the relatively minor damage that remains isn't worth the effort to repair it. Who knows?

Still, Marcus can't help feeling a little uneasy since this place clearly has been attacked before. He heads for the entrance at a relatively brisk pace, "Seems safe, but never know. Best to get inside just in case." That's probably just his natural paranoia from living in a beastie-filled wasteland for so long talking.

Wenomir shrugs. I trust her. She's proven to be committed to our cause and she's had plenty of opportunities to betray us if she wanted to. Mind you, she doesn't by any means guarantee it will work.

[To the Gate!]

The gate may or may not be closed, which will result in Reviline and Marcus being forced to stop there.

The former glances at the entrance and hums a little.
"Very secure looking location, one way or another."
Might be forced to wait for someone to greet them, or let them in, depending.

Something tells Reviline it'd be rude to find a way to just force in.

[...yay gate?]

Yeah, Marcus knows better than to simply walk in and start wandering about.

Learned that lesson the hard way the first time his tribe sent him to arrange a sale at a town.

The mayor got rather angry when Marcus simply walked into his office. The tribe weren't too happy when he reported back either.

"Yes. Not seen anything like this before. No big forts in wasteland, magic would tear them apart."

[Yippie Ki-Yeh Gate]

"Fortresses are rather common in magically stable areas, as a means to keep out intruders or invaders.
I would guess Watch here has a reason to keep people out, or in."

Reviline leans up against one of the walls near the gate and rubs the sleeve of her coat a bit.
"I imagine this won't be the end of the new things for you."

[Can't be bothered thinking of gate puns]

"Perhaps attacks on the city are...happening often in this direction? So they put fortress here to defend from attacks?"

Well, y'never know, perhaps all those invasions of Inside did pass Watchtower first! It's not impossible!

"Lots of new things here, yes. Always finding new things in wasteland too. But not been attacked by beast here yet, and already found many new things."

[Lazy Gate]

Doesn't seem likely that all the invasions would detour to a cliff, on the way to Inside...
But maybe, perhaps.
It's possible.

"With luck, the beasts can be avoided for a little while yet, until you're comfortable here. Plenty of individuals are randomly dropped here, so I imagine you can find someone to relate to, in that department."

The two at the gate might spot Wenomir heading towards it from outside, his player having decides to backtrack a little so that he can meet them. He raises his eyebrows upon spotting them and quickens his pace.

[The path to lazyness...has a gate on it]

Who knows? Perhaps the invaders usually go via the cliff because it would be totally unexpected and just the sort of dirty trick that would catch the defenders of Inside off-guard!

"This place is strange and full of strange things. If not for places like the city and this...Watch...fortress...it would feel like home. The only thing missing are the big beasts." Marcus should really be more careful about tempting fate...

But oh, what's this? Someone approaches!

Marcus turns to meet the approaching person, "I was thinking someone inside fortress would greet us, but someone outside instead, it seems."

[Lazy Path Gate?]

"Careful what you wish for. This land is notorious for making one's words truth."
Reviline slides her gaze over towards Wenomir and acquires a warm smile.

Someone from outside works just as well as inside.

She moves away from the wall and straightens her coat out a little.
Need to look presentable for the fellow.

The scarred, red-eyed man stolls up to the two newcomers. Curiously enough, he doesn't have his sword with him and he's not wearing armor.
Mind if I ask what you're doing here? Are you here to join or report some threat?

[Watchtower: The gate in the path to lazyness?]

"I know not why she came," Marcus says, nodding at Reviline, "I have nothing to do, so thought worthwhile to follow her, find out things...like the purpose of this place? Might be worth joining if I could be of use."

Marcus...well...if the numerous animal furs from various mutated beasties that make up his outfit are anything to go by, he can probably handle himself fairly well in a fight. Of particular interest is the four-eyed bear head he used for his hood, its mouth stretched wide open to fit round his head, several teeth kept in to add to the fierceness of it.

Oh, and he has a crude serrated-bone from some beast tied to a simple wooden handle as a weapon.

"I came in the hopes I could help, yes. Assuming you're not full or denying employment."
Reviline gives a little upper-body tilt/bow, keeping up with her smile.
She politely does her best to not stare overly much at Wenomir's scars or eyes.

Maybe he's sensitive?

Ariel's Room

"Oh, I think I'll be able to provide you with a few-"

There's a brief interruption here in which Ilpholin grows slightly more tense. Ariel was using magic on her. Not just any magic, HER kind of magic. Being a nymph drow provides her with a certain amount of awareness and natural resistance certain spells. Lust potions would almost never work (though why they'd be needed, I don't know) and such.

However, getting someone to relax falls under a variety of different schools and powers because of the numerous reasons for it. Course, given who Ariel is, it's probably more along the lines of Ilpholin's talents. Still it means only a partial success. Which incidentally negates the heightened suspicion and tension that just occurred and nulls itself out in a way. And Ilpholin isn't particular eager for the massage to stop, though she's now a bit more on the guard.

Ariel might notice this slight change in the all of a second interruption that occurred just now.
"A few reasons." Ilpholin says, blinking her eyes.

Ariel's Room

As soon as Ariel feels the resistance, she stops trying to force her to relax and instead concentrates on alternating heat and cold in her fingertips as she kneads Ilpholin's muscles. "Oh?" She asks playfully. "I think I'd like to hear a couple of those." If Ilpholin is looking ahead, she might see the tip of Ariel's tail slither into her sight before the tip moves back and forth, teasing her.

Reviline gives a little upper-body tilt/bow, keeping up with her smile.
She politely does her best to not stare overly much at Wenomir's scars or eyes.

Maybe he's sensitive?
Wenomir folds his arms across his chest. Reviline doesn't really need to worry, since he's used to people noticing his eyes and scars.
We are recruiting, yes. And the purpose of this place is to tackle big threats to the Nexus and its inhabitants. If you want to join, you'll have to each pass a test to prove your worth and usefulness.
