Zman, can Natalia clip the torch to her belt or something and so leave her hands free without burning herself? Never mind, just answered my own question.
Just realized the Vow of Poverty means that Miriam can't use the wand of CLW.
On the other hand, other characters can still use the wand without needing to make a check, correct? I think you might have said something about needing to have the spell on one's spell list, but upon looking it up it looks like that's only true for scrolls, not wands.

It's a UMD check to use a wand. There is no check if you have the spell on your class list though. None of us have Cure Light Wounds on our Class list besides Miriam.

That's the main reason I've been reluctant for Miriam to take it. Why do you think I suddenly maxed out Natalia's UMD ranks?
Zman, perhaps we should change our name before we all drown.
Done. Pulled back a little on three skills that are in character for Shiny but not essential to the game: Disguise, Gather Information, and Sleight of Hand.

Thanks, Admiral. Natalia's still going to have ranks in UMD, but now it's not as critical. Zman, did Natalia have time to do a quick patdown?
Okay, goodnight all. I just spent the last three hours consoling a friend on facebook whose boyfriend broke up with her. I am starting to hate Thanksgiving break.

Moral of the story, men suck. just ask my other half!

Except you then? And men don't suck, otherwise I'd have far fewer friends.

Good night, Athedia. I'm really sorry about how your week's been. At least the break ends tomorrow?
Is there a list of benefits somewhere? I don't have a book and I've had some trouble finding it online. I'll look for it again...
EDIT: Okay, that's a lot of stuff. Especially the feats. Are any of them good feats?
So, you've been completely opposed to Miriam taking the Vow when you didnt even know what it entailed?! Shame on you Coffee!
It's a comprehensive list if benefits, and is only arguably worth the cost of giving up Magic items. The hardest part is living with the limitations. Miriam will be just fine and will end up as one of the Most powerful Clerics of St Cuthbert around.

It was the no magic item thing. And it seems as though Miriam is still going to be lagging behind a little bit. Eh, she's a cleric, it balances out! She doesn't seem to qualify for many of the exalted feats though. But still, not feeling a normal range of temperatures, not needing to eat or drink or eventually even breathe...That's pretty creepy.

I am playing this for all it's worth.
And if she is played really well, she may end up qualifying for Sainthood.
Eventually she gets +10 Armor, +3 Deflection, +2 Ntural Armor, +8/6/4/2 to stats, Dr10/Evil, Resist Energy15, 9 bonus feats, striking as a +5 magic Weapon, Resistnce Bonus to Saves, Regeneration, and a bunch of other stuff is pretty damned good, not to mention the spells she has access to.
It is really good, but how many of those exalted feats does Miriam even qualify for? A lot of them seem to require being classes she's not part of or have at least 15 charisma.
But like I said, a lot of it seems like Miriam's becoming less mortal. Natalia is going to be freaked out by this and I'm going to milk it for all it's worth. Let me put it this way: Have any of your guys ever played Tales of Symphonia?
As for the mage armor thing, it allowed Mithril in character to explain the circlet, also she doesn't know about the Vow of Poverty yet, so her first thought is "hey one of the front-line people isn't wearing armor, isn't that funny."

But, ther are some descent fears she can take, ie intuitive attack, consecrate spell, nimbus of light, etc. Its all in addition to her normal feat progression.
