"Pffh, you call that mercilessly?" The dryad says with a roll of her eyes. "I hadn't even started yet."

"If you were a dragon, you wouldn't need a sword." The hermit reasons. "But your answer intrigues me so I'm going to ask something else. What do you put most value in, the subjective or the objective? Are you a practical man, or a idealistic one?

"Really? I didn't have you pegged as an Eilistraeean. More... I'm not sure. Perhaps Freya, with that leather." Eilistraee is as sexist as Her mother, in my opinion- I seem to recall reading that Eilistraee didn't accept many male clerics, and those that did have to be gender bent for certain rituals. A good drow deity should combine Eilistraee's temperament with Vhaeraun's acceptance- whilst the patron of male drow, He'll accept female clerics. Usually converts, admittedly, but still.

If a group of soldiers is escorting a messenger somewhere important and they're ambushed, a practical man will run off while the soldiers are distracting the ambushers. An idealistic man will join their charge. An intelligent man that values both will pass off the message to someone unassuming before saving as many of the soldiers as he can; you don't need to fight to survive, and a living man is better than a dead hero. His family would likely agree," Harnel says, beginning to lean against the door frame.

"I see. But killing Ashar is an idealistic goal, is it not? Or do you do it for the reward? What motivates you here? Why do you seek the blade? This is very important so please think about the answer for a while." The sage asks. "I can sense that you desire many things but your own idealism is keeping such desires in check. But perhaps it's not idealism, perhaps it's practicality? After all, if you give in to greed, you might lose everything. Am I right?"

"Idealism is good. So is practicality. Here's the fact of the matter; I'm doing it for both. Any idealist is hoping to get returns - being a good person - for his actions, and while that's definitely something I want to be, I can't deny that the promise of rewards is enticing. You don't have to be a saint stricken by voluntary poverty to be a good person," Harnel smiles.

"Well, it's kinda..." And Lucy makes the 'wishy-washy' sort of hand motion. "I'm not particulary devout, but growing up around followers of those two, it kinda rubbed off on me, you know?" Which, given Angela's portfolio, may or may not have been literal.

And there do need to be more drow deities. Especially good ones. After all, most drow are Good now, just ask any drow PC.

I don't have any drow- I have a drider, who used to be a drow, and she's not good.

"So you grew up in HALO? I can't think of anywhere else Angela has spread Her religion to." Dalachrechians worship one deity, but they accept the existence of others and try to respect them as much as possible- including the deific capital. "What's it like down there? I haven't had much experience with their members, and regrettably much of the little experience I have had with them has been less than positive." Azurelle offered to buy Din for some snow-spider eggs way back when Din was Elezibethele's slave.

Perhaps thankfully for Azurelle, Lucy has little to know knowledge of Din.
"Well, sort-of. I visisted there a few times and my mom was a good friend of Angela's from before she came a Goddess," she explains with a smile. "So I heard a lot about her and her ways kinda appeal to me, you know?"

"Now, I've heard some rather odd rumours regarding HALO, especially regarding mothers and children. Specifically, that some children in HALO have two mothers and no father. Is that true?" She doesn't think it is, but there's enough doubt in her mind that she feels it's worth asking.

"Actually, that's one of the tamer rumours. And it's true, as far as I know anyway. Magic can help you do just about anything, you know?" And Lucy smiles.

"Really? How interesting." Azurelle makes a mental note to look into that later. "I'll admit that it's not the only rumour I've heard, however I pay no attention to most accounts due to the nature of Angela's faith and its presence in HALO." Meaning that she's uninterested in most accounts of the curtainous activities and merely disregards them as Angelan rituals or rites.

"Trust me, a lot of them are way overblown." Even if she does find them amusing. "But yeah, magic is fun like that sometimes," Lucy adds with a grin.

"Many of Dalachrech's rituals are secret, and I'm sure there's much debate about what exactly occurs within the Temples. Because the rituals I performed as a cleric are religious secrets I cannot talk about on the most part, I refuse to talk about the rituals, secret or not, practised by those worshipping another deity." There's one she can talk about, but it's more a method of relaxation and it's also a public ritual anybody can do- all they need do is ask.

"Well, I guess I can respect that," Lucy says, nodding in understanding. "I don't know too much about them myself, really. More a...casual follower. My way's more the way of the ninja."

Ninja rules the night, and all that.

"Ninja... They're like the hashashin, right?" The hashashin are where the English word 'assassin' comes from.

"...assassins? Well, some are. Others are more honourable. But sneaking, striking from the shadows - that's what appeals to me. Well, that and swordplay." And she grins impishly; it's clear she enjoys the use of her katanas.

"Oh, I see. What about you? Are you an honourable ninja or a ninja-assassin?" Although ninja almost certainly never used katana, as those swords were limited to the samurai class.

It should be noted that Lucy has no actual ninja training. All she knows about ninjas she picked up from books. And entertainment. Such as Deadpool. Thor help us all...

"The former, of course. Not that there's any great shame in the latter. It's simply not my way." After all, Angela started out as an assassin.

As most of my comics graphic novels are second hand and I don't own very many, I only have one in which Thor is a character, and that Thor is a clone. No Deadpool, though I'm on the lookout.

"Oh? Is that because you don't feel able to kill in cold blood, or are you just the kind of person who prefers some kind of framework around which to base their life?" In the latter case, primarily Lawful.

Deadpool is hilarious. This fan video gets his personality dead-on. (Also, just watched season 3 Transformers: Prime teaser. Reaction: WOAH.)

Oh, I know; when I'm bored, I sometimes look things up on Wikipedia. Including Deadpool. I really want a graphic novel with him in as a major character.

"I see. Personally, I will do what Dalachrech asks without question. No matter what. Any gold I make from the deed will go to maintaining my weapons, my armour, my health and that of my dependants." A good trait for a paladin. Slightly worrying when said paladin worships a deity of chaos and evil, however. Especially as said 'dependants' are slaves.

As for who her mother was, well, that'd be a spoiler at this point. Unless asked of course. Azurelle never met her though. (At least, I don't think so.)

"Really? Then maybe you should look into finding out more about a chap called Abbathor. He's the dwarfen god of greed. He might help with the whole 'shinies' thing, but might not be too accepting of a non-dwarf seeking to worship Him." He's from the Faerunian dwarf pantheon. I don't think anybody plays a cleric of His, but dwarfs aren't too popular for some reason.

Ilpholin arrives at the judging area. She's wearing her usual, since her catsuit is her combat suit, though she has recently added a mechanical glove resembling the bone structure of a hand to her rather lacking amount of clothes.

Still whip at her side, she takes a seat. Crazy, errr... whatever you call purple-haired people, doesn't even apologize for being late.
